The Canary Islands region
Lanzarote is situated just 79 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.
Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm. This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.
As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian'.
The dry climate means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.
Take a walk up ( easier than it looks ) Montana Roja and experience the view inside the caldera of the volcano. This is a must as it is right on the door step and the views are fantastic ... so don't forget your camera.
The promenade of Playa Blanca village is a beautiful place to while away a few hours over a fabulous tapas lunch with a good bottle of Lanzarote wine you can watch the ferry going back and forth to Fuerteventura which is a short 20 min crossing. You will probably want to leave some spare time for some duty free shopping.
A recent development in Playa Blanca is the Marina Rubicon. Located at the eastern-end of the resort, Marina Rubicon is a sea-front development of upmarket restaurants and designer boutiques positioned next to a beautiful Marina of luxury yachts and boats. Here at the water's edge you can sit back and sample either the local or international cuisine that is on offer.
About 2km east of the Marina lie the Island's most spectacular beaches - Papagayo. These beaches are accessed via dirt track and there is a small entrance fee. There are multiple beaches and coves to choose from, though it is worth noting that since this part of the Island is untouched, public facilities, such as toilets and refreshments are limited. The beaches are also reachable by water taxi from Playa Blanca harbour. We would advise you to take the cool box with refreshments and plenty of water.. Don't forget the sun lotion.
The nearest beach, Playa Flamingo Beach, is a 5 minute car drive or 20 min walk. This beautiful golden beach is in our opinion the safest for families to enjoy a sunny day. It offers parasols sun beds and pedalos to hire, and a selection of cafes and supermarkets nearby.
Dorada Beach is the 'waterports' beach, with pedalos and jet skis for hire as well as a cafe overlooking the beach providing snacks and drinks and more cafes on the promenade

"Best villa ever !!!!!!"
Just arrived back from two weeks holiday at Villa Celestial, the Villa is excellent with a very high standard, and is equipped with everything that you need for a excellent holiday, the rooms are nicely decorated and very modern and clean, the Villa owners Karen & Mike are extremely helpful and friendly and helped to make our stay unforgettable, the pool is clean and heated and in excellent condition, the photos on the web page are excellent, but you have to be there to fully appreciate the standard of Villa Celestial, the location is excellent and has the most breath taking views over mountain and sea. In all we couldnt find any faults with the villa ,location or our holiday.. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa and will hopefully be able to return in the future, thanks again.
