This is because we, too, are vacation rental travelers, and as expats in Athens we know what it is like to want to come home to a comfortable, familiar apartment where friends and family can spread out and relax after a day exploring the historical center of Athens, the beaches along the souther coast, or climbing the ruins around Nafplion or Delphi.
Minimum stay 3 consecutive nights, although occasionally we may find ourselves with a "hole" in our calendar, so feel free to ask about 2 night stays, but please, don't be upset if we just can't offer it.

These days we're all obligated to travel lighter and lighter, and that makes our homes even more attractive. Not only will you find our beds fitted with super silky high thread count bed linens, you'll find the closets stocked with fluffy soft bath sheets and towels - we've even provided wash clothes and hand towels as well as thick cotton bath robes. And our guests who are venturing off to the beach for the day will find beach towels provided specifically for this purpose. As you might imagine, families love our places, and we're glad, because we love kids. To welcome you home to Athens, we provide a crib and high chair for the littlest travelers in your family and a nice selection of games and movies for kids of all ages. And at the end of the day, there is nothing quite like our spacious verandas to relax with a glass of wine or our terrace for stunning Acropolis views.
Further details outdoors
Although there's no need for a car to explore central Athens, many of our guests wisely choose to base themselves in Athens while exploring the greater Attica area (Sounion, Vravona and Marathon) or the Argoloid Peninsula (Nemea, Mycenae, Corinth). Fortunately for them we've got indoor parking (extra fee) just adjacent to the apartment. For those who want a rental car only for the day, there are several agencies we work with who will be pleased to pick you up so that you can sneak off the back way to the highway, avoiding the maze of streets within the Syntagma Square and historic center areas.

“Athens First Duplex was a wonderful gateway to even more wonderful Greece”
Having interest in history, nature, food and culture we wanted to visit Greece for a while. We finally planned this trip amidst the Euro zone turmoil. We arrived in Athens airport with no expectations on how our visit would turn out. When we stepped out of the airport, Nikos, the driver Carole arranged was waiting with a placard. From that point till we left Athens 12 days later, we were treated for full of surprises all over Greece. Our stay at First Duplex provided an excellent base to arrange day trips, find great restaurants, reliable taxi service and great shopping as well. (Btw, the taxi fares through Carole were competetive with the ones from Fodors. The itineraries suggested by Carole were fantastic!) Athens First Duplex is located in a pleasant and quite neighborhood. It is in a modern five story complex with all the amenities and comforts that made it feel like a home away from home. The facility owener Carole and the manager Nadia went out of their ways to make our stay very pleasant. Mornings we would walk down to one of several bakeries within walking distance and pickup fresh bread and other delecacies to start the day. There was a vegitable vendor with his sons selling fresh olives, vegitables and fruits. We would pick up milk and greek yogurt (made locally in clay pots!) from small family owned grocery stores. Although the apartment is in a quite neighborhood, the main street is less than 100 meters away. Acroplois is 3 km and we would take taxi for 5 euros. The only problem we had as with taking taxis back to the apartment. Many taxi drivers were not professional drivers. They lost their jobs and taken up to taxis temporarily. Though they were nice, didn't know the streets well. Luckily, we solved this issue by asking them to talk to Nikos who would answer promptly. Summarizing, we had a wonderful experience with the stay at First Duplex and the help we got from Carole and her stayff in planning the trip. We would strongly recommend their services.
“We had an wonderful time welcoming the New Year in Athens and look forward to returning.”
Carole did an incredible job helping us to put this trip together. We traveled as a group of 7 with older kids and we all had a wonderful time. Carole's suggestions for day trips and things to-do in Athens were perfect for us. We never would have had such a wonderful trip without Carole's help. The apartment suited our needs perfectly and the guides and the driver were all professional and made you just want to return. Thank you, Carole!
“A very good location and a great apartment.”
Easy access to Syntagma Square and the City center by 10 minutters busdrive or half an hour walk. A great sunny apartment with views to Acropolis from the upper floor of the house. Authentic restaurants in the neigbourhood where you can enjoy great food. We were a couple, so space was not a topic. A very thourough description from the owners gives advices of where to eat, shop etc. If you follow the advices you live like a greek.
“Highly Recommended! Spotless, functional, comfortable, with an amazing host!”
We were so happy to settle into our apartment after a very long trip. The penthouse was spotless, very comfortable, and wonderfully located. I was worried about it being quiet at night in such an urban settling, but this place is tucked just far enough off the main road, that it was delightful in the evenings. We would enjoy our meals on the outside terrace, and retire to our comfortable beds. Everything was functional in the apartment. There was even a clothes dryer! We came to realize this is hard to come by in Greece. Just a few minutes walk is everything you may need. A few banks, a pharmacy, many bakeries, and lots of restaurants and urban shops. Carole is an exceptional host. While we were there, she came by and gave us even more details as to where to eat authentic Greek food, and several other tips. It was such a pleasure being in contact with her, and she is so helpful. We hired her recommended driver for both our airport transportation, and a day trip to the Peloponnese. He was punctual, very friendly, flexible, informative, and overall a pleasure to travel with. Our three year old took to him really fast! :)
“Fabulous apartment with a great balcony and lounge.”
We had a wonderful stay in this penthouse apartment. It was quiet and very well equiped. It is a 30 minute walk to the centre of Athens and all its amazing sights. The food market tour was brilliant and gave us the chance to try some great cheeses and meats. The supermarket down the road has a good supply of fresh food.
“The apartment was nice, clean and high quality.”
The apartment was nice, clean and high quality. The hosts were very accommodating and offered plenty of information about fun things to do in Athens.
“This place is awesome!”
My experience of staying in this place for 2 weeks was amazing. I stayed there with a couple of work colleagues because we were in Athens for work and this place was walking distance to our office and is also located right near a lively intersection of places to eat, places to grab a drink, etc... Everything worked out really well for us. Super clean, very comfortable, felt like home right away. If you're a tourist looking to stay here I would still recommend it. Most everything you'll want to see in Athens is either a short to medium walk, quick Metro ride, or a cheap taxi trip (assuming you don't have your own rental car for transportation - which if you do this area seemed to have pretty accessible parking spots which aren't always easy to find in Athens). Lastly, I want to address the common perception that Greece is unsafe largely due to their financial situation. This stay wasn't my first time in Athens and won't be my last either. Every time I've been there I've never once seen a protest or demonstration and have never thought that I wasn't safe. The people in Athens are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are being well taken care of (from my experience). During the day and at night people are out spending money and everything is very normal. If you ask a citizen they'll likely tell you that things have toned back from what used to be normal before their financial troubles, but from my perspective as an outsider the city and people operate regularly and everything is lively. My point is to not listen to the media. Greece is a fantastic place to go and visit.
“Clean, Spacious Apartment in Great Location”
My parents, my wife and I spent four days in this centrally located apartment that was easy walking distance to the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus, the Plaka, the Olympic Stadium and many other sites. There was a market and several restaurants along with several newspaper stands within two blocks of the apartment. The apartment was very clean and with two levels, there was plenty of room to spread out. And of course there is access to the rooftop deck with a fantastic view of the Acropolis. The availability of laundry, especially towards the end of a two weeks spent throughout Greece, was greatly appreciated. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to spend time in the heart of Athens. If/when we come back we will stay here. I should add that Carole can provide access to a tour company that can provide day trips outside of Athens. We had arranged a day trip to Corinth, Nafplios and Mycenae that was so good, we set up a sunset trip to the Temple of Poseidon the next evening. Each trip the driver set us up at fantastic restaurants. I can't recommend these tours enough. Thanks for everything Carole.
“Lovely apartment. Comfortable and stylish. Great location.”
Hosts were very helpful ahead of time. The flat is well equipped, comfortable, spacious and styish. Lovely balconies and great kitchen. Super clean and in good condition. We walked almost everywhere. The location was safe and convenient. Fantastic place to stay in Athens!
“Perfect apartment in a perfect location”
Walking into the apartment, we immediately knew this would be our oasis in the city. And how right we were - a cool, calm space walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafe's, bakeries, taxi's, buses. We love being able to "go local"in a foreign city, and with Carole's thorough information booklet and blog, the location of her apartment and the recommendation of Nick as a guide, we really could relax into this incredible city. Our aim was to see and do as much as possible while enjoying down-time as a family, and I think the spacious apartment accommodation in a central location provided exactly the refuge we needed to retreat to after hot, busy days of sightseeing. From the first email, to what I hope won't be the last, Carole has been an ever-flowing source of help and kindness, with a real understanding of what it means to be a stranger in a strange land. Thank you so much for this, Carole.
