We have a brand new 6 person hot tub on the terrace which catches the sun between 3pm and 6pm (weather permitting of course), perfect for an apres-ski soak :-).Please check out our recent reviews http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/VacationRentalReview-g562741-d2252774-Alpoholics_Chalet_Blanchot-Macot_la_Plagne_Savoie_Rhone_Alpes.html

Location description from owner
The Rhône-Alpes region
Last season was our 2nd year of operation but due to the relocation from Morzine to La Plagne, it felt like a whole new and wonderful ball game. We now had the convenience of piste side and town centre location, so no more transporting guests to and from lifts/bars/restaurants on a daily basis. We also now had the benefit of high altitude, snow sure slopes with 70% of the ski area above 2000m including the amazing Bellecote Glacier offering skiing up to a whopping 3250m!In all fairness, the move was a slight gamble, given our initial lack of familiarity with the resort and ski area but the gamble paid unquestionable dividends. We enjoyed the best snow season for more than 60 years with over 6 metres of snowfall by the end of January alone! The pistes seem in limitless supply and are extremely varied with challenging high altitude blacks through to gentle, tree lined blues down to the villages of Montalbert , Monchavin and Les Coches. We also found, to our delight, that la Plagne offers without doubt the best and most extensive off piste terrain that I, and indeed everyone who stayed with us had ever encountered. It seemed like we were discovering new, safe stashes every day throughout the season and that, coupled with fantastic sunny weather for the majority of days made it the best 5 months of skiing and boarding of our lives. The resort also links with the equally vast area of Les Arcs which can be accessed via the gargantuan double decker cable car that is the 'Vanoise Express' which was built in 2003, doubling the skiable area covered by the Paradiski lift pass. The village of Plagne 1800, where the chalet is situated, has 3 bars and at least 4 quality restaurants, all within a few minutes stroll of the Chalet and each has its own style and character. 'La Mine', our local bar, as the name suggests, is stacked with mine themed character and even has an old mine cart track running across the floor with authentic mine carts making up the tables. Drinks are very reasonably priced for an alpine bar and they have live music and/or DJs most nights during the season. Just around the corner is the 'Bobsleigh bar' which was the main hangout for the seasonaires due to low prices and live Sky Sports. Just up the road from there is 'Mama Mia's', a quirky and very French little Pizza restaurant and bar run by the hilarious Daniel and Xavier the pizza dude. This was a popular destination for our guests on chef's day off due to the reasonable prices and vibrant atmosphere. Just opposite the chalet there are two more restaurants, 'La Loup Blanc' which is great for a beer in the sun en route back to the chalet and 'Le Petit Chaperon Rouge' (Little red riding hood), which serves excellent Savoyard cuisine, again, very popular with our guests.Just up the road is Plagne Centre, which is the main focal point of the resort and is packed full of shops, bars and restaurants. 'Scotty's' bar is right next to the piste and is very popular with the Brits for its simple yet quality menu, live sports and live music. We often found ourselves dancing on the tables with guests and friends alike on a Wednesday afternoon after a day's riding. Our favourite bar is without doubt 'The Mouth' in Plagne Centre as the drinks are cheap, the bar staff and owners are awesome people and great fun and they are constantly putting on fun events and nights including A DJ night on a Tuesday night, which always goes off, karaoke on a Thursday and the infamous Seasonaire Awards in April. There is a bus service which runs until around 1am to ensure that everyone gets home safely after a few drinks. There are dozens of great restaurants on the mountain including 'La Bergerie', just above Plagne Centre which is always fun and keeps the sun until late, La 'Grande Rochette', right on the Peak above Plagne Centre and with stunning 360 degree panoramic views and excellent food.Perhaps the thing that really makes La Plagne stand out above any other French resort is the Olympic Bobsleigh track (http://www.la-plagne.com/fr/hiver/decouverte-plagne/les-la-plagne-plagne/bobsleigh-plagne.html) with is located 2 minutes down the road from the chalet and is the only one in France that is open to the public. There are 3 different options ranging from the 'Bob Raft', in which four people are sent down the track together reaching speeds of up to 80km/h. For those who seek an even bigger thrill there is the 'mono bob' in which you are sent down the track lying solo in a single man bob reaching up to 100km/h. As if this wasn't enough there is a 3rd option, the 'Taxi Bob' in which 3 of you are placed in a proper Olympic bobsleigh with a professional driver and this bad boy achieves speeds of up to 124km/h and 3gs of G-force! It really is an amazing experience and like nothing else I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. So come see us and experience the joys of La Plagne and Alpoholics first hand!

- Very Good
Excellent chalet. Good food, great staff and fantastic facilities including tv, dvds, games and great snowboard maintenance area. Test boards are a great idea, although i didn't try them out! Hot tub was good to have as well. Not quite ski in, but only a 2-3 minute walk to the chair lift.
We took a group of 11 to Chalet Blanchot and we all loved it! Great chalet and a great team looked after us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. A big winner was the lovely three course dinner, wine and beer that is made for you 6 nights a week. Add to that the hot tub and the location close to a chair lift...great stuff! We will be back!
“if Carlsberg made chalets....”
We were after a super chilled out fully-catered chalet and I had heard some great things about Alpoholics and La Plagne so we thought why not?! After speaking to Charlie (the owner) we realised this would be perfect. He was super helpful with liftpasses (having them sorted for when we turned up) and along with having the fridge packed with beers our first evening was as relaxed as we could have hoped! The food was incredible - better than any of the 5 star hotels/chalets that i've stayed at previously and along with the super friendly staff, it was wonderful just to be able to chill out and relax. It genuinely felt like a home from home. This is perfect for groups of friends but also families. Definitely going to be heading back for a super relaxed, ski-out, affordable and non-pretentious catered chalet! Thanks guys!
They'd probably be the best in the world! (although we would never serve Carlsberg in the chalet as its horrid beer ;-)). Thank you for your lovely comments. You guys were such good fun. I look forward to riding some epic pow with you again next season :-)
“Great location, great food, great chalet”
We had a really good stay with Alpholics. The team were very friendly and helpful and the chalet is perfect for a large group of friends. Benny's cooking hit the spot every night and the cakes in the afternoon always went down a treat. Loved the hot tub and being able to almost ski in/out was brilliant. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Thanks so much! We really hope to see you again next year. Don't forget we have a 2nd chalet next year which sleeps 19 and has a huge, luxury hot tub and a sauna not to mention heated boot warmers :-)
“Professional and mind blowingly fun? Is it possible?? yes with Alpoholics!!”
Two great lads look after you in this cosy, warm and fully kitted chalet. if you need a soak after a hard day shredding then their hotub Jacuzzi eases all qualms, if you want to veg out and eat cake whilst watching endless dvds and tv series after, again, a hard day of shredding, then the alpo lads can cater. In between the fantastic 3 course meals at night, tea and cake in the afternoon and a hearty breakfast in the morning, you start to think that this is the only skiing holiday in which you will put ON weight, but luckily the lads (if your good boy or girl) will take you up on a shreddable tour of the mountain and work off any food comas that can even work up an appetite! I highly recommend you spend your la plagne vacation with the alpo lads as they provide an all out experience with comfort and style, big up the Aplo household!
“Homely, relaxed and well catered.”
The staff were all very friendly and we received a good breakfast and evening meal. The chalet was comfortable and right on the slopes, so no real complaints.
“Could not have asked for more”
I recently stayed at Alpoholics chalet with some old friends I had not seen in ages. Charlie, Benny and Jas were extremely welcoming from the get go. They supplied us with a lovely breakfast, afternoon tea and three course dinners for six days out of the seven. The food was accompanied with what seemed like endless beer and wine. The accommodation was comfortable and the facilities ample. The hot tub is definitely a good touch. There is great access to the lifts from the chalet. The hosts were happy to go beyond the call of duty to help us in any way possible. Charlie got all of our ski passes for us and even serviced my board for me in their little workshop. Benny and Charlie also showed us the best places to visit in the different towns and the best runs to take on the mountain. I am so glad we chose Alpoholics and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. I will surely be back next year because the whole package was just perfect. Thanks Alpoholics I will be back next year!!
