Description

House on the Rock has a magnificent coastal setting on the harbour of old Pittenweem, one of the most charming fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife. The house is set on the rocks overlooking the Firth of Forth and enjoys spectacular south-facing views out across the water towards the Bass Rock and North Berwick beyond.

Totally refurbished during 2012, the cottage offers a remarkable lounge with south facing windows, breath-taking views to the south, west and east, across the lapping waves of the Forth. There is one double and two twin bedrooms, all with en suite facilities and also a further spacious attic twin room. A new luxury kitchen has been installed in 2015. There is a separate dining/sitting room with a traditional wood-burning stove to relax over dinner after a day spent enjoying the East Neuk of Fife.

The renovations have been carried out sympathetically maintaining many original features while incorporating life's little luxuries

The accommodation comprises:-

Main entrance hall which leads onto the newly installed for 2015 L-shaped kitchen with integrated appliances including an induction cooker, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.

Adjacent to this is the dining room which has laminate flooring and a lovely wood-burning stove, perfect for keeping cosy in the winter months. The dining table has seating for 9 and a sofa in front of the stove.

A spiral staircase leads up from the dining room to the first floor lounge with plenty of comfortable seating and a TV with Freeview and DVD player. It features windows on 3 aspects with particularly stunning views to the south.

Bedroom 1 is on the ground floor - it has twin beds and it boasts a window seat and ample storage space in the form of built-in wardrobes. There is also an en-suite bathroom with WC, wash hand basin and bath with shower above.

Bedroom 2 is on the first floor with double bed and can be accessed from the lounge. It has exposed ceiling beams (a lovely feature), fitted shelves and a tiled fireplace. It has an en-suite with self-contained shower, bath, WC and wash hand basin.

There is a second door into Bedroom 2 which leads off from the main staircase and is directly opposite the entrance to Bedroom 3, another comfortable twin bedroom with built-in wardrobe and cupboard. Again, it has its own en-suite with a double shower compartment with electric shower and mixer shower valve, WC and wash hand basin.

Bedroom 4 is in the loft and is an airy twin bedroom with velux windows letting in plenty of light. The utility room with washer and drier is also on this level. The attic room has an en-suite wc and sink in the utility room. Please be aware that the stairs leading up to the top floor are narrow and may be unsuitable for young children, also ceilings on this floor are low and may therefore be unsuitable for tall guests

Outside there is parking for 2 cars with plenty of free parking nearby. There is a private south-facing seating area to the south of the property with a bench set - great for relaxing outside in the warm summer weather and enjoying the spectacular sea views.

Location description from owner

The Fife region

Tucked into a corner of the east coast of Scotland between St Andrews and Edinburgh, the East Neuk of Fife is one of Scotland's most beautiful regions. It has a character all its own, attracting artists by the thousands to its unique combination of history, sea, farmland and beaches, its picturesque fishing villages with their Dutch-style houses and its world famous golf courses. There is so much to do here for the whole family, from kayaking to horseriding, and yet there is great peace here too. In the summer, flowers line the hedgerows and the fields are rich with crops while fishing boats bob in the sea. It's a perfect place to relax, to eat well, and to recharge the batteries. Eight coastal villages comprise the East Neuk - each with it

“The best house in Pittenweem”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2016

This was a fab house to stay in. Warm, well furnished, kitchen well stocked. Loved the welcome bottle of wine. Kids wanted to move in! Sink in walk through bedroom's ensuit could do with a pressure reducing valve to slow the flow of water, this would save the floor from getting wet all the time.
