Description

Squirrel Cottage is known for its comfort with many repeat bookings each year. It sleeps two in double or twin beds, the bedroom is spacious, a large sun room over looks the garden. Shower and a separate bath. Many guests comment on all the extras.

Squirrel Cottage has lots of wildlife. Regular visits by Red Squirrels that will amuse and entertain you. Lots of birds at feeders, particularly the bedroom feeder which is only feet away from the window, many guests comment on how wonderful it is. There is the occasional roe deer, and rare visits by Pine martins. We are currently setting up a pine martin feed station in an attempt to attract pine martins at times when guests can view them See this on Squirrel Cottage Face Book Page.

Full oil fired central heating throughout and wood pellet fire allows for extra heating in the living room. Heating and electric charged at cost (no mark up - you pay exactly what we pay); we feel this is the fairest way to do this, as some people

Full oil fired central heating throughout and wood pellet fire allows for extra heating in the living room. Heating and electric charged at cost (no mark up - you pay exactly what we pay); we feel this is the fairest way to do this, as some people spend lots of time in Squirrel Cottage while others are out most of the time. We do not feel it is fair for low users to subsidizing high users. Hope you agree!

Sleeps two, but it is NOT suitable for children under 16 years of age on account of the steep river bank and we keep it free of all animals for those with allergies. It is for non smokers, inside and outside.

Located just above the village of Killiecrankie, 3 miles equidistant from Pitlochry and Blair Atholl.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Squirrel Cottage is located just above the village of Killiecrankie with its own oak wood and wildlife pond at the back and large garden at the front shared with the Coach House. Highland Perthshire http://www.highlandperthshire.com/ has lots to offer the holiday make.

There are a number of walks you can do from Squirrel Cottage, including to Killiecrankie Battle site, a circular walk through the Pass of Killiecrankie and the National Trust Visitor centre. Also a circular loop to the 30 foot falls of Girnaig and also along back roads to Blair Atholl and for the more energetic to Pitlochry (which a number of guests do when staying at Squirrel Cottage.

Pitlochry

Squirrel Cottage is 3 miles from Pitlochry, a popular highland town with lovely Scottish Baronial Victorian built buildings, it has an excellent choice of restaurants and of course it has its well known dam and fish ladder, which allows over 5,000 salmon each year to spawn upstream.

There is much to do in the area with Dunkeld and its Cathedral on the banks of the River Tay 15minutes by car away. Blair Atholl and Blair Castle the ancetral home of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl, 3 miles away. The Scottish Crannog Centre at Kenmore and plenty of walks in the area that will keep you busy for weeks.
