LA NICCHIA has been decorated in the typical Tuscan style with vaulted ceilings of old red brick, terracotta floor and bathroom done out in Italian marble. The apartment, which is situated on the ground floor, includes a spacious bathroom with shower and an open plan room of about 45 sq.metres.In this room three distinct areas have been created with two steps delineating the areas:a living area with sofa,a bedroom area with double bed and a fully equipped kitchen area. From the kitchen you go out onto a small loggia with a table and chairs which overlooks a pound. There is another door at the side of the building which takes you into the living area. The forniture is in keeping with the building, simple but comfortable at the same time.

LA CAPPELLINA is a delightful studio which has a ceiling with wooden beams and brick supported by two tie beams and a Tuscan terracotta floor. From a small balcony(with cast iron table and chairs)you go through an imposing door and a magnificent glass door with its original coloured panes into the apartment.Once inside you find yourself in a large bright room(50 sq.metres).Here two distinct areas have been created:a bedroom area with double bed and a living room with sofa bed(sleeps one or two). The kitchen area is slightly raised and fully equipped.A few steps and a hidden door lead you to the bathroom.

There is the possibility to have two separated bedrooms:actually we have another apartment in 30 mt. from the chapel(La Chiocciola);it has 2 bedrooms (on request I can add another),2 bathrooms,1 kitchen and one big sunny terrace. It is on the 2nd floor ;it has a detail:for the moment the access is with a spiral-staircase,but till now it wasn't a problem for our guests. Please contact the owner for prices or more information.
ITALIAN LANGUAGE LESSONS given on request. There is also the possibility to have lessons of THEOLOGY OF ART , BYZANTINE ICONOGRAPHY and BYZANTINE PAINTING.

Further details outdoors

“exceeds expectations a wonderful adventure”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

My Wife and I and 3 children 6 months-8yrs stayed in "La Cappellina" and my mother in law and friend downstairs in "La Nicchia" both were charming and beautiful full of lovely architectural details and attention to detail that Nilo artistically incorporates to every inch of renovation he has done. The grounds have lovely walks and offer lovely views, the centre of the village is a short walk and has everything you need. although we visited Pisa and a number of beautiful towns and villages as well as the beach at viareggio the thing that our children will always remember are Nilo, his tractor which he generously gave them rides around the grounds on and his 2 dogs!. Silvanna and Nilo are excellent hosts and it is amazing what they have done and are doing with this magnificent Villa - . Silvanna generously did a bit of essential shopping for us before we arrived and set up a visit to a vineyard..amazing place to stay..certainly will go back some time and definitely recommend.

“Magnifico”

Villa Margherita was extraordinary. To stay in a 14C converted chapel on the grounds of this fabulous building was both beautiful and enlightening. This was largely thanks to Silvana and Nilo - who had provisions waiting for us on arrival and who kindly showed us around the villa and grounds - plus told us history . . . They recommended a winery 'Pitta' which was well worth it especially with Valentina our guide who taught us so much. Villa Margherita was in good driving distance to Pisa, Volterra (highly recommend a visit) and the beach. I cried when we left.

“Perfect”

The location & setting is beautiful - a perfect Tuscan manor and its grounds set a very short walk from the lovely little village of Fauglia. The apartment (we stayed in La Limonaia) was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for a short stay. Fauglia itself has a cafe, shop and restaurant - all you need for a short break. Pisa & Livorno are within easy driving distance. Booking and arrival was painless and efficient via Silvana (the owner). Great value and a lovely break. Would certainly return with my family next year.

“Very pleasant”

Just back from a trip to Tuscany with my three teenage children. We stayed in an apartment in the villa which Silvana and her husband Nilo live in themselves. They are in the process of lovingly restoring this amazing property. This really is a labour of love as you can see that Silvana and particularly Nilo are passionate about restoring this villa to its former glory. We had a lovely view of the Tuscan hills from our terrace. Silvana and Nilo are both very charming and welcoming guests. Silvana speaks good English, her husband Nilo does not speak any but more than makes up for it with his charm and friendliness. He gave me a tour of the old building, right up to an amazing tower which if you can stomach the height affords the most amazing views of Tuscany. We enjoyed our stay in Fauglia which has an excellent restaurant and is well priced. There is also a very good small pizzeria and a gelaterie which serves the most delicious ice cream. Lovely to stay in a place like this as it offers you a chance to experience the real Tuscany. Good base to tour from also as it is only about one hour from Florence and approximately 20 mins from Pisa.

“La Dolce Vita in Beautiful Tuscany”

My wife and two daughters stayed in La Cappellina, a spacious converted chapel, in the owners grounds. Silvanna and Nilo, the owners, were very welcoming, made us feel so at home and went out of their way to help us. Silvanna was exceptionally tolerant of my feeble attempts at Italian and I was so pleased to be able to pronounce San Gimignano by the time we departed! My youngest daughter says that by the end of the holiday the wonderful Silvanna and Nilo were like her Italian long-lost relatives! She also really had a good time playing with the dogs Weiss and Trillo and misses them alot (and she is still waiting for us to get a dog!). The village of Fauglia is perfect for exploring the Tuscan countryside, seaside, quaint hilltop towns and fantastic cities. Our highlights would have to be the main tourist towns and cities of San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa, Florence and Sienna. However, don't miss the nearby little hilltop town of Bari and its famous pasta factory. We were delighted to be escorted round by one of the owners' family and to take some of the pasta home. We can't wait to return.

We booked on very short notice for less than the recommended stay and were taken care of by Silvana very quickly and efficiently. We stayed here for two nights and had a lovely stay. Our girls are 5 years old and they were able to run and play on the wonderful property - they were especially delighted with the dogs, who were friendly and gentle. Silvana was very helpful and friendly, always there to assist if we needed and, even though we are hopeless with the Italian language, Nilo attempted to converse with us which we much appreciated! The converted chapel was our accomodation and our parents were in la Nicchia below and it was very convenient for dinner and for the kids to go back and forth. The recommended restaurant was good for lunch and we were able to drink our cappucinos on the patio in the sun all at a very reasonable price. Pisa was very near and we were happy to leave the busy city and come back to this quiet country place. The only thing missing for us was a toaster and a coffee maker but this may be a North American thing - we enjoyed this vacation very much and would recommend it to anyone!! Thank you!

I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay in our property:you all are so pleasant and friendly people and your young girls are very, very nice(my old dog missed them !!). I'm only sorry I forgot to put in the apartments the tosters and the American coffee machines:I have them, but I don't know why they were not in the studios. In case, next time ask me what you wish. Thank you very much for your great feedback, best regards !

“unique place with charm and friendliness”

My girlfriend and i stayed at la cappelina for a week and had a really good time. The appartment itself was unique in many ways. An old chapel with high ceilings and tainted windows with many authentic details. The owners are very friendly and extremely dedicated to the renovation of the old house. They were also very willing to show us around and give us good tips on the surrounding area. All in all a very good experience.

“Peaceful and relaxing location”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2011

Could not ask for more helpful hosts with Silvana and Nilo who responded to all questions and requests promptly. The dogs very friendly and welcoming, particularly the 'old girl' who would come along and greet us most days and then take her leave to sit a yard or so away and keep us company. Local restaurant very friendly, local wine well worth tasting. We would recommend the small tiny bay with sandy beach at Marina Di Pisa, just a bit further than Tirrenia but very secluded. And all flavour ice creams MUST be tried!

“Our wonderful hollidays”

This August we took a rest in Fauglia, nice calm village. Fauglia has a very good location. it is easy to reach many different places: Lucca, Florence..., different (rocky, sandy, pebble) clean and free beaches. There are some very good supermarkets in few kilometers, and it is possible to buy necessary things in the village. We rested in La Cappellina, and I have no enough words to describe how we liked it. It is a beautiful building, decorated in a real tuscany style with great elegance. Apartment is equipped with all facilities for comfortable rest. Silvana and Nilo (the owners) are very tactful benevolent persons. It is nice and easy to contact them. I hope I shall have an opportunity to spend my next vacations in this place.

You are a very nice and friendly family and it was a pleasure to meet you. I'm happy you found everything good and that I contribute to make your holiday wonderful. I really hope to have you as guests again in the next years.

“A good base to travel around and very peaceful location”

We stayed in L'Arcaiola which was a former orangery. It was perfect for us as we have a young child and being on the ground floor made things a lot easier. Silvana and Nilo we great hosts and were very flexible and helpful. Our son loved the dogs and was very upset when he had to leave them and go home. The property is well located and Pisa, Lucca, Vinci, Florence and safe / clean beaches are all within easy reach. The property was very comfortable, clean and was very well presented. The shops in the village are very friendly but a bit expensive so we went to the larger supermakets nearby for anything other than the basics.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It was a pleasure to have a so nice family as guest,to suggest excursions or recommend shops, restaurants and try to meet all your requirements.I hope you will be soon my guest again.
