The perfect year round getaway! Book two consecutive nights and stay between Nov 1 - April 30 and stay the third night free! Nestled on an island in the Salmon River, you'll make memories in this very unique cottage-like suite. With private entrance & patio at the river's edge & waterfalls, a one of-a-kind ambiance awaits you. Full kitchen & year round outdoor hot tub. Boats & bicycles provided from mid May-Oct. 30. 6 min from the 401, 2 hrs from Toronto, 10 min to Prince Edward County. Please only book two nights on automatic booking and tell me if you would like the extra night. I will then adjust your reservation on my end to reflect the third night free.

In the tiny historic hamlet of Lonsdale, a circa 1829 stone grist mill sits on an island in the Salmon River between two one lane bridges. A waterfall on either side, a river alive with wildlife, gardens full of flowers and weeping willow trees completes the picture.

AMENITIES:

An open concept vacation rental with a one-of-a-kind ambiance. The space is elegantly rustic with many custom features, original mill artifacts and eclectic and antique touches. The full kitchen features a 1930's porcelain sink an antique dish cupboard, antique oak counter originally from the Kingston Whig Standard Newspaper office and custom cut granite. The bathroom boasts a vessel sink and a custom tile and limestone shower with glass sliding door and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. There are two comfy reclining chairs for watching t.v. in the sitting area and large limestone window sills in the three windows which look right out onto the river and waterfalls. The bedroom area is a cozy space with a custom made farmhouse queen size bed, a memory foam mattress, fine linens, an exposed original limestone wall and an electric fireplace for extra coziness. The television is on a swivel and can be viewed from either the bedroom or the living area. Original hand-hewn beamed ceilings and original mill doors as well as other mill artifacts adorn the space. A private patio with a Weber barbeque, fire pit and a dining area complete with cushioned, swivel chairs is situated right outside your door at the water’s edge.

Your suite has a full kitchen and is equipped with everything you'll need to prepare meals indoors or outside. We provide coffee, coffee makers, assorted teas, cooking oils, sugar, honey, and the basic condiments. You will need to bring food h you as there is no grocery store in the immediate area. There are three large grocery stores in Napanee, a 20 minute drive east, also in Picton, 30 minutes south and Belleville, 25 minutes west.

WIFI is available for checking e-mails etc. We do not have access to unlimited internet so streaming and downloading movies is not available, however, there are free movie channels on the satellite television.

You will find a casual, relaxed and friendly atmosphere here. We are usually around on the weekends and during the week in the evenings and will interact as much or as little as you prefer.

SPRING AND SUMMER AT THE MILL:

You'll enjoy dining and relaxing on your river's edge patio. Kayaks, a canoe, peddle boat and touring bicycles are all available free of charge to our guests from May until Thanksgiving and a riverside hot tub under the stars is available year round.

Enjoying nature is the main occupation here. Watching birds and wildlife beside the waterfalls, paddling up the river, or touring the countryside by bicycle can really eat up a day. You can also enjoy a refreshing swim in the waterfalls and pick some fresh organic greens from our vegetable garden to complement your meals. A waiver must be signed prior to using the facilities due to the inherent dangers associated with being near the water.

The river is part of an historic canoe route and many enthusiasts brave the fast flowing water in April/May. The river quietens come June for relaxing paddles. It is the river that gives this place it's magical vibe and brings the wildlife in abundance for our pleasure. Bring your camera! Great Blue Herons, Song Birds, Eagles, Otters, Beavers, Muskrats, Geese, Ducks, Swans, Turtles, song birds and many others are all happy to call Lonsdale home or stop by to say hi. You never know who is going to drop by next. The grounds are full of flowers and birds and the sound of the waterfalls makes this an ideal spot to just kick back and enjoy.

FALL AND WINTER AT THE MILL:

During the fall and winter months enjoy the outdoor all season hot tub under the stars by the river and waterfall. If the pond is frozen, bring your skates, snowshoes or cross country skis for fun right outside the back door. There are also several nearby cross country ski locations and walking trails.
