Description

The market town of Pickering is perfectly placed to explore the North York Moors National Park, the seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and beyond or to the south - York. All not much more than a 30 minute drive

19 has been carefully modernised to offer all that you require and more. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom with big corner bath and separate shower.

Downstairs the cottage is almost open plan with cosy sitting room through to kitchen with dining area overlooking the garden. At the top of the garden is a den for enjoying morning coffee, a barbeque or just the peacefulness. 19 Burgate is 4 minutes walk to the town centre, North York Moors Steam Railway and the Castle.

19 Burgate has been inspected as a 4 Star property with a Gold Award.

We are happy for the 3rd guest to be a child (over the age of 10) or an adult member of the family.

Pets are welcome by arrangement but must not be allowed either on the furniture nor upstairs.

Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Pickering is the gateway to the North York Moors and also the perfect base for the Yorkshire Coast, the Wolds and York.
You can use the steam trains of the NYMR to get onto the Moors and then walk for miles in wide open spaces interspersed with pretty traditional villages.
For cyclists there are the steep hills and descents of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire and , of course, the ultimate test that is Chimney Bank.
Prefer to be off road-amazing scope on the Moors and in Dalby Forest where stages of the Mountain Bike World Championship have been held.
Sail or surf on the coast, watch the puffins and gannets at Bempton Cliff or walk/cycle the coastal routes
Castel Howard, Nunnington Hall, Beningbrough Hall, Burton Agnes,Sledmere House are all nearby. For those who prefer their historical buildings to be older we have the Abbeys at Rievaulx , jervaulx, Kirkham and Byland and castles in Pickering and Helmsley.
You can watch the gliders at Sutton Bank, seals at Ravenscar and whales and dolphins off Whitby,
Take the kids rockpooling and fossil hunting at Runswick Bay and explore the smuggler villages of Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay.
We have amazing local food in delis, road side stalls, local markets and eateries of all kinds, The area is the Capital of Cake and home to some of the country's great fish and chip shops. We have Michelin Stars AA Rosettes and Breakkfast Awards in abundance supported by nationally recognised tea rooms cafes and take aways.
The produce is so fresh and so local that it gives every food outlet an inbuilt advantage.
For kids we have Flamingo Land (the white knuckle riders favourite park),Go Ape in Dalby Forest, the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough and an amzing choice of outdoor activity.
Beck Isle Museum in Pickering and Ryedale Folk Museum provide an insight into life in the past , Eden Camp , a former Second World War POW camp, focusses on WW2 and there is the award winning Captain Cook Museum in Whitby. Of course York has the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum, City walls and a fascinating Roman history.
Theatres in York and Scarborough are supported by a plethora of cultural events around Ryedale and the Coast-the Milton Rooms in Malton. Helmsley Art Centre, Kirk Theatre Pickering,
There is a vibrant entertainment scene and you will always be able to find live music in a local pub.
For retail therapy York is a mecca ,the City Centre, Designer Outlet and Vangarde Centre with its new John Lewis.
There are high quality independent shops in all our towns and villages-you will be amazed what you can buy.
So indoors or outdoors, adventure or culture, fish and chips or haute cuisine, on foot or on wheels, folk club or classical festival we have it all and it is always changing-there is never a dull moment in our part of Yorkshire
