“Drapers delight”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2017

We stayed 3 nights in this simple yet well appointed and dog-friendly cottage ideally located near the town centre, railway, and the moors beyond. The coal fire and log burner add to the authentic feel (with plenty of coal supplied). The owner Helen is very friendly and responded quickly to any qeuries we had before we arrived and during our stay. We would definitely return to this cottage in future.

“Lovely cottage for a couple or up to two children from 5 years up wards. Well presented and clean cottage. Well situate”

Great stay for the railway station. My boy .6. was over the moon to be able to watch the trains from his bedroom window. Easy parking. Spacus cottage. No washing machine for long stay breaks. Would book again.

“lovely cottage in great location”

lovely cottage, ideally located for the town. Got the train from just across the road to Whitby, very handy. Only 40 minutes to Scarborough too. Great base to explore the area and coast. The cottage itself was very clean and nicely decorated. The little finishing touches made it feel homely, like the flowers and cake.

Pickering was my favourite village and this cottage was also one of my favourites. The fireplace was fantastic for the chilly evenings (second coldest spring on record while we were there!), the kitchen had everything you need, the co-op was just down the road and also highly recommend the Chinese restaurant. The train station is just across the road and we were there during the special events week, but the train noises did not worry us at all, they started about 9 in the morning and finished in the afternoon. The price is fantastic for what you get and I would not hesitate to recommend this place. If I ever make it back to the area I would be sure to book again!

“perfect”

stayed here for weekend to celebrate daughters 13th birthday and we all had a great time. Helen the owner truly has made the cottage a lovely , warm , inviting cosy place to be. The cottage was spotlessly clean and there was everything you could hope for and more , the attention to detail was lovely from the lovely cake upon arrival to the fire already being built so we only had to light when we got there and relax . Close to walk into the centre of town and only short drive to other attractions Would definitley stay again.

“a perfect cosy retreat in a great location”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

This fantastic, cosy cottage is so well laid out and furnished it doesnt feel small at all. Helen supplied us with many homely extras and the lemon drizzle cake went down a treat. The terrace garden is well laid out and secure for both children and dogs or just a relaxing place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. It was great to be able to book for just a weekend especially in the height of summer, this cottage is a real little gem, we will definitely stay again and recommend it to our friends and family. Helen is a very friendly host and on hand if there are any problems or if you need local information.
