We are dog owners ourselves and consider it their holiday too! We welcome a maximum of two dogs and request they are kept downstairs and not allowed on the furniture. The garden area is fenced in, but it is probable that a Jack Russell sized dog may escape. Around the house are sheep to the rear and hens are kept locally. (Free range eggs can be bought nearby at Woodmans Cottage).

Further details outdoors

Rosecroft Cottage, Cropton has a large enclosed cottage garden with patio, barbecue, summerhouse with furniture and drying rack. The lockable summerhouse can also be used for storing bikes. The garden area is ¼-acre and is ideal for a family, with plenty of hide and seek areas and space for playing. There is also a swing in the garden. Outdoor games are available for guests use including croquet and boules. If you come to Rosecroft Cottage in the Autumn there is plenty of fruit to take home with you. We do request that the Raspberries and Damson plums are not raided as they are used for the charity jam, on sale at the bottom of the drive. The garden area is excellent for families with pets. The garden is fenced in, but a Jack Russell would probably be able to get out. We are very toddler friendly with lots of equipment, more can be requested by phone.

Take a steam train trip through beautiful moorland scenery to Goathland (Heartbeat's Aidensfield) or Grosmont. The Beck Isle Museum, in the centre of Pickering, is a good place to visit. On some Sundays in summer there is a well attended Car Boot Sale.

North of Helmsley is the small village of Rievaulx. It is the home of Rievaulx Abbey, a previous home of Cistercian Monks. Looking over the Abbey is the Rievaulx Terrace and Temples. Visit the Terrace for some great views of the village and surrounding area.A couple of popular attractions in the Malton area are the Eden Camp Museum and the Flamingo Land Amusement Park. The Eden Camp will give you a fascinating glimpse of what life was like during the 2nd World War. Flamingo Land will give you the thrills and spills of top class white knuckle rides plus a Zoo with a wide variety of animals from around the world.

Why not take a visit to the charming coastal resorts of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. You can travel through "Heartbeat Country" on the way to Whitby. Wander through the cobbled streets and climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Further down the coast is the quaint fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay. The views over the bay are simply stunning.
