The Paphos District

With arguably the best Mediterranean climate, Cyprus enjoys some 330 days of sunshine every year and is thus very popular with visitors from the UK.

Paphos offers a great mixture of old and new. According to legend, Aphrodite the Goddess of Love was born here. Petra Tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s Rock) is a short drive away and an ideal spot to have a swim on a hot summer’s day. Paphos is also a designated UNESCO heritage site and has many treasures for those interested in archaeology. These include the Tombs of the Kings and the Mosaics which are situated down by the harbour.

The older traditional part of Paphos town has a large market and numerous shops, restaurants, tavernas, bars, bakeries etc. Kato Paphos is the newer part of the town, with the usual tourist attractions. The recent refurbishment of the area along the seafront is now complete and the mile long walk along the front is a delight. This is a wonderful place from which to witness the fantastic sunsets that Cyprus is famous for-maybe with a cocktail or a beer?

A lovely day out is a visit to the Troodos mountains. There is a choice of villages to explore en-route., where the local people will make you feel welcome. Alternatively you may join an organised trip.

Golf , fishing, water sports, walking, scuba diving, horse riding and karting are some of the many activities that are on offer in the area. There is also a Water Park in Paphos-great for all the family.

Peyia

Peyia is situated just a few minutes drive from the main Coral Bay Resort. The village has an abundance of facilities including banks, chemist, bakers/patisseries, butchers, fishmonger and supermarkets. There are five or six excellent traditional family owned tavernas/restaurants, which we prefer to the more "commercial" ones in Coral Bay & Paphos. There is also a choice of four bars in the village. The village celebrates all the main festivals in the square, where everyone is welcome.

Although set in a quiet area, there is so much to do nearby. The lovely Coral Bay beach is only 5 minutes drive from the village, where a selection of water sports and PADI scuba diving are available. Coral Bay also offers a wide variety of restaurants , bars and nightlife.

Less crowded beaches can be found at the nearby village of St Georges or on the spectacular Akamas Peninsula. There are also enjoyable walks along the coast.

If you like wine tasting, there are numerous vineyardsin the Paphos area - some better than others!!

“Absolutely Fantastic!”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2016

We have just' returned from a fabulous holiday at this idyllic peaceful retreat! The villa is just perfect and has the most amazing stunning views over the Mediterranean. We loved the design of being 'upside down' because having the bedrooms downstairs meant being able to get changed into your swimming gear, then simply slide back the patio doors and straight out to the pool - perfect! The mini fridge in the main bedroom was a good addition too as it saved having to go upstairs for those much needed cool drinks. One of our best evenings was having a BBQ, sitting with a drink and watching the sunset. Something I would highly recommend to future guests! The villa was absolutely spotless and extremely well equipped. The pool was well maintained by a lovely friendly man who visited 3 times during our 10 day stay. The gardens are also beautiful and well maintained. Although crime is very low key in the area, the villa offers extra security of a burglar alarm which is straightforward to use and gives that little bit of extra peace of mind. Normally after 10 days we are ready to return home but this is the first time we really didn't want to leave. I would definitely say that car hire is essential as the amenities are not really within easy walking distance. We tended to stay around the pool during the day and then drive into either Peyia village or into Coral Bay for our evening meal. Finally a massive thank you to the owners John and Linda for sharing this lovely property and for making us feel so welcome and therefore giving us such a fantastic holiday.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay so much.

“Fantastic villa in ideal location!”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2016

Just back from a two week stay in Braeside Villa and we couldn't have asked for more! John and Linda have been so helpful in answering any queries we and communication was prompt and friendly- we were made to feel very welcome! The villa is very well equipped, a home from home, which made our two week stay very comfortable. It is very spacious, especially when you included the outdoor areas. The pool is a really good size with wide steps at the shallower end which are good for younger children and, as we found, a great spot to sunbath on! Pool area is also well equipped with plenty of loungers and seating as well as the BBQ. Beautiful, well kept gardens full of gorgeous flowers, fruit trees and the odd lizard! We were very grateful for the air-con in the upstairs living area as well as the bedrooms - Cyprus got very hot in the second week! I had been a little worried that having to go upstairs to the living area and kitchen might get annoying but not one grumble from anyone (and we had two teenagers with us!). It wasn't a hassle at all and we didn't even feel the need to use the small fridge in one of the downstairs bedrooms. Braeside is in lovely location with other properties near by but still very private and has uninterrupted views down to the coast. Peyia village is a little gem and has everything you need but both Coral Bay and Paphos are a very easy drive from the villa too. I would definitely recommend Braeside, would return in an instance and miss it very much!

Glad you and your family enjoyed your holiday so much Sara.

“Fantastic Location and Facilities”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2012

We travelled with two teenage children. First visit to Cyprus, loved the area and loved the villa. Fantastic location and the facilities are superb. The villa is like a home from home. Great barbecue and so relaxing. Plenty to do locally Peyia is a lovely village, Coral Bay not bad and Paphos superb. Loved the pool, loved the villa, we have never re-visited a location before but have already booked next years stay would definitely recommend to others

“Very peaceful location with stunning views”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2012

Have stayed at this villa the past 2 years and have booked again for 2013. The most important factor for my family is the peace and tranquility the villa offers- no noisy neighbours or loud music to contend with! Villa is well equipped and maintained to a high standard throughout. Location is idyllic and is a good base for travelling whether it be to the many beautiful villages, north to Polis and Latchi or even further afield.

“fan-tas-tic!!!!!”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2011

we stayed at the Braeside for two weeks, as we was in Cyprus for our wedding. Sdaly because of a busy schedule we didnt get to spend many days up at the villa- but the days we did they were amazing. The villa is what you see in the pictures and more! Being upside down and having to use the kitchen upstairs took a little while to adapt to, as Kids are always hungry so I had to keep dashing up and down but its worth it for the wonderful views you get whilst enjoying breakfast. The pool is lovely and clear, would say to anyone take inflatables etc for the kids as you are a drive away from paphos, so unless you are going to drive down everyday its best to keep them occupied with the pool. The Villa has no negative points, and if there was I would of found it!!! Paphos is a good 30 minute drive, but to be honest if you have children then Coral Bay is a nicer evening out then Kato paphos unless you want the harbour. When we book our next Cyprus trip hopefully this villa will be available. many thanks to John and Linda for the information provided to us in the lead up to ourstay.
