The Paphos District
Whether you are a sunseeker, explorer or someone looking for a relaxing holiday with great scenery or an activity holiday with a great night life, This is the place for you. There are so many reasons to visit this beautiful part of Cyprus.
Beautiful countryside, a cosmopolitan resort, historic sights as well as sporting activities, the Paphos region (Pafos to the locals) has something for everyone at any time of the year.
Cyprus is exceptionally fortunate to have one of the most agreeable climates in Europe, with approx 330 days a year enjoying brilliant sunshine. The all year round climate makes it an excellent holiday destination at any time of the year.
The Paphos district is an area on the Western side of the island. Its capital is Paphos which is now a bustling harbour town, with many tavernas where you can sit and watch the colourful boats whilst enjoying a cool refreshing drink, a steaming Cypriot coffee or a mouth-watering meal in one the many harbour side bars and restaurants.
There are 3 golf courses within a short drive and watersports can be found at Coral Bay and Paphos. The region is also popular for Cycling and walking holidays. Fishing and Boat cruises to suit all tastes are catered for from Paphos Harbour and Laatchi, but if the most energy you want to spend is whilst shopping and/or eating and drinking then this area will also suit you too, especially now there is the new Kings Mall opening at the end of Nov 2013.
The sandy beach at Coral Bay stretching within an enclosed bay is considered one of the best in Cyprus with its clear, clean and warm water of the Mediterranean sea.
Peyia, dating back many years, is set on the hillsides above Coral Bay, 15km north-west of Paphos.
The centre of the village still holds onto its very traditional Cypriot style, stone built houses, the locals sipping coffee outside on the pavements, the narrow streets where once only donkies passed through.
Now to compliment all this, modern tavernas and cafe bars, plenty of supermarkets, banks, fully equipped Medical Centre with English and English speaking staff, and supermarkets are all available for all your holiday essentials.
There are many places to eat, whether you are looking for traditional fayre or fast food. Savvas grill a local Cypriot taverna offering a fantastic selection of traditional food. The Grande Cafe is very relaxed and is set in a courtyard, with comfy seating, basic menu, and you can also catch up with your emails here or let the kids play on the computer games.
Peyia is also very popular for wedding ceremonies, with many taking place at the town hall on a daily basis.
