Description

A sizeable property with 4 bedrooms (3 x double, 1 x twin) and a bathroom on the 1st floor. On the ground floor is a large kitchen, cloakroom, lounge/diner, a second bathroom and a separate wc. All bedding and towels supplied. There is a colour TV, dvd, video, books & games. The property is equipped with electric cooker, freezer, microwave, iron, washing machine, fridge, dining table/chairs, central heating, barbecue etc and all rooms are of a good size with ample storage facilities. There is a good size lawned garden. All bedding, towels etc supplied and all utilities included in price. Cot and highchair can be supplied if arranged in advance. A welcome pack is provided. Free Wi-Fi is available but download speeds are not great despite now being fibre-optic.

Slippery Sam's dates from around 1450 and is a Grade II listed building. It is named after Samuel Jackson, a notorious smuggler who once lived here. The property is located on the old Roman road Stone Street around 4 miles out of Canterbury in a fairly rural setting.

“Value for money for those who do not expect a lot of luxuof.”

For a decent price you get 4 large bedrooms, a large living/dining area and a reasonably sized kitchen. Three toilets to suit al the guests (we were a party of 6). The garden is also big enough for playing kids as well as resting parents. On the downsite: the interior is outdated, there is only 1 small shower (plus on the first Floor a bath, but without a shower), no dvd-player and no dishwasher.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the review which is basically factual. We wouldn't claim the place is luxurious and furnishings tend to be dictated by the fact that the place is a very old, listed building. We are unable to get a dishwasher in due to plumbing issues (and that's what men are for on holiday!) but have added a DVD player to the existing satellite TV, video and internet.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
