The Istria region

Istria is the westernmost county of the Republic of Croatia and the largest peninsula of the Adriatic. It has been the destination of various forms of curiosity. Here you will find the smallest town on earth – Hum and the highest peak on Ucka Mountain of 1400 m high. The very summit of Ucka is worth to climb on if nothing else but of stunning panorama over the whole of Istria, the Bay of Trieste, the Julian Alps and the Adriatic islands, right down to Dugi Otok.

Pula is the biggest Istrian city that has existed for three thousand years. The town has beautiful beaches spread over nearly one hundred miles of beautiful coastline. It was the home of the Histrians, the Romans and the Venetians. The city-museum will present you with its ancient monuments: the Arch of the Sergi, Temple of Augustus, Hercules door, the Arena –a huge and amazing Roman amphitheater still used as summer stage for film and music festivals. Under the stars, during the summer you can listen to some of the most famous names from the world of music. The most renowned event is the International film festival, which is held in the open air.

It ranks as one of the loveliest archipelagos in the Mediterranean.

Motovun - a town of rich historical heritage in which each stone has its own story. This medieval Istrian town is situated on a hill with a view of the river Mirna valley. The park-forest Motovunska šuma (the Motovun Forest) is the most famous place for truffles, an exceptionally appreciated mushroom which grows underground.
