There are golf courses, Bells sports centre, an ice rink, an excellent swimming pool with flumes, outdoor lagoon, Jacuzzis and steam and sauna rooms. Trout and salmon fishing can be arranged on the River Tay and its tributaries. Worth a visit are Perth City museum and art gallery, and Scone Palace, which was the crowning place of Scottish kings where Macbeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II were crowned. Two of the worlds great golf courses are within a short drive - Gleneagles and St Andrews, the former was the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup. There are also numerous public and private courses in and around Perth, such as Rosemount, Carnoustie, Murrayshall,, Craigie Hill and Crieff, to name just a few. Perthshire has some of Europes most remarkable tree and woodlands. There are many beautiful forests and woodlands where some of the tallest trees in Britain can be found. There is the gnarled oak at Birnam which is said to be the last survivor of the wood portrayed in Shakespeares Macbeth. For walkers there are many Munros in the area to tackle like Shiehallion and Ben Vrackie with breathtaking views. The amazing ski slopes of Glenshee are just an hour by car.

Perth

Pitcairngreen is a very small village around 4 miles west of Perth. The village surrounds a green and the local pub, the Pitcairngreen Inn, has a selection of real ales and ciders generally on offer. Meals are served from Wednesday to Sunday. There are plenty of walks from Pitcairngreen which can be accessed directly from the bottom of the garden. Walking across a field the River Almond is easily reached and there is a pleasant walk through woods to a weir where salmon can sometimes be seen jumping. There is a well stocked local shop within walking distance. The village is on the bus route into Perth taking 15 minutes. Just 7 miles away is the best ice-cream in the area at Stewart Tower Dairy Farm. Gloagburn farm shop is just a 10 minute drive and has an array of finest quality local products. Pitlochry is just a half hour drive away with its Festival Theatre and famous fish ladder.

“Weekend Away”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2017

Beautiful place and very warm welcome with fresh bread and jam and also so caramel shortbread! This didn't last very long. The coach house is perfect for a relaxing weekend away. We didn't want to leave. The house is bright and spacious and the garden is huge. We took our collie with us and she loved it and made a new friend (mango the owners dog) Sandra (the owner) left out details of walks and where to find all the amenities. There is an Inn just across the road which serves great food. There are fields and lots of beautiful scenery. We can't wait to go back there for another break in the not to distant future. Perfect for a relaxing weekend! Highly recommend

Owner's reply: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. You and your dog are welcome back!

Stayed with some friends as we were attending the Rewind Festival. Lovely house, very comfortable, will be back

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed. I hope you enjoyed Rewind too!

“Building immediately behind owners home lacking privacy”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

The property was very close and overlooked by the owners house so lacked any real privacy. The owner had a dog and unfortunately the shared garden was unfenced this would have been nice to have been advised of this in the listing. Internally the kitchen lacked worktop space so we found it difficult to prepare food. The ground floor bathroom without an opening window needed a good clean and had mould everywhere the extractor fan which did not over run did not reduce the condensation

Owner's reply: I am sorry you thought that you were overlooked however the garden and courtyard between the buildings do provide privacy and the details state that it is a shared garden. I have never before had a complaint about the bathroom and I can assure you the cottage is always cleaned to a very high standard. Unfortunately the weather when you visited was very wet and perhaps this affected your stay. The kitchen is equipped and seen as adequate for holiday makers.
