Location description from owner

The Marche region

Le Marche is one of Italy's best kept secrets. On Italy's East coast, between the Adriatic and Apennines, the Marches are relatively undiscovered, yet surprisingly accessible. A mosaic of ancient cities, rolling hills, dramatic mountains, hidden valleys and long, sandy beaches, Le Marche is an outstanding holiday destination. The inland area is almost tourist-free and the local people are friendly and helpful to strangers.

The landscape of Le Marche ranges from undulating agricultural fields and vine clad slopes to snow-capped mountains and dramatic gorges. The winters in this region are always snowy and there are several ski resorts in the area, whilst the summers have Mediterranean sun and heat.

Le Marche is rich in historical, artistic and cultural heritage which has been preserved and unlike its neighbours Umbria and Tuscany, is relatively undiscovered and still unspoiled by tourism.

Every small hilltop village in this region has a beautiful church and a welcoming bar, but more than that, throughout summer and autumn each village has its local festa or sagra, usually based on produce from mushrooms, sausages, fruit, wine or chestnuts depending on the season. It is a time for eating and drinking, processions, music and dancing.

Pergola

Pergola, the nearest town to the house, is an historic town with winding streets and beautiful old churches. It has a wide selection of fantastic, reasonably priced Italian restaurants and cafes.

The area surrounding the house has several other villages and towns for you to explore. Each holding its own historic castles, churches and museums, along with delightful cafes and restaurants.

The whole area is a walker's paradise with many mountain paths, guided walks if you require, and a stunning array of wild flowers to be seen.

There are several places to go for wine tasting in the area, and you will be able to sample the excellent and reasonably priced local wines.

If you want to travel further a field it is easy to go on day trips to Tuscany, Umbria and the coast at Senigallia.

It is also the perfect place for relaxing by the pool.

“Brilliant Family Holiday”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2015

We spent a brilliant 10 days in Casa delle Querce with our 3 children. The villa is in a really beautiful location and the view from the pool is spectacular. In fact it was difficult to drag ourselves away to do some sightseeing. The Frassasi caves were well worth a visit, as was the medieval city of Urbino. The villa itself is very well equipped and Joe and Heather are very warm and welcoming. We loved the holiday and would definitely recommend both Casa delle Querce and the area, especially for families on a budget. We couldn't believe how reasonable it was to eat out in the local restaurants and the food was delicious.

“Fantastic location, wonderful accommodation and lovely hosts.”

We had a truly wonderful holiday. The accommodation was perfect for us, like a home from home. The pool surrounded by lovely flowers and wildlife had amazing views across the countryside. The bbq was a welcomed bonus because we could cook in the lovely sunshine and sit outside to eat. The area was perfect for us with lovely towns close by, especially the Castle down the road with its wonderful ice cream.

“A lovely clean and spacious house, with beatiful garden set in a stunning and very peaceful moutain location.”

Casa delle Querce in Pergola was perfect for us. It was our first trip to Italy with our three children(3,6 and 9 years of age) It had the benefit of a lovely clean spacious house, teamed with a fab pool and garden. Having use of our own bbq was lovely also. The view from the pool was beautiful, many days were spent there as the children were in their element. The guest information folder was particularly useful, as was the owners advise regarding places of interest and where to get the best ice cream ! There are plenty of pretty villages/markets and hill top castles to visit. We were made exceptionally welcome and would not hesitate to recommend to couples and families alike.

“A location to die for, the warmest of welcomes - this really was the holiday of a lifetime.”

Nestled in an idyllic location in Le Marche region; we had twice the fun of last years trip to Tuscany but for half the price. There really is an embarrassment of fantastic restaurants in the surrounding area, and a number of independent gorgeous wineries -it is a foodie heaven. The views at the house, looking out across the mountains really sell this place - especially the views from the pool. We had a really warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who was helpful throughout our time there and the house itself was lovely, comfortable, very clean and well equipped, and in such a peaceful location.
