Location description from owner

The England region

West Penwith or 'The Land's End Peninsular' is situated in the far South West of Cornwall and is arguably the most picturesque area of the country. The Peninsular has diverse land and seascape with hidden sandy coves some of which are only accessible by scrambling down rocky cliff paths. It boasts long golden beaches, ancient moorland, rolling farmland, shipwrecks, sunken treasure and iron age settlements. Lands End is a stone's throw away with its rugged cliffs and tales of mystery and buried treasure under the waves.

The far west of Cornwall enjoys one of the mildest climates in the country which makes it a perfect getaway all year round.

Penzance

Penzance is a busy market town and boasts a variety of great bars, restaurants and cafe's. Located within easy reach are the city of Truro and the sailing capital, Falmouth. If it's surfing or sunbathing you're after, or perhaps a romantic walk along a deserted beach, then you are spoilt for choice with some of the area's best beaches on your doorstep such as Sennen, Praa Sands and Porthcurno. The Eden Project is also only a 45 minute drive away.

The famous St Michael's Mount (described as the jewel in Cornwall's crown) and Lanhydrock House are located close by or you may chose to take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly on 'The Scillonian'. The terminal and ticket office is just a short stroll from the holiday homes.

A particularly enjoyable and picturesque journey is from Penzance via St Erth to St Ives. Once a small fishing village, St Ives has grown to become one of the most famous & popular seaside towns in Cornwall which attracts scores of holiday makers every year.

There is so much to do and see in this special part of Cornwall, whether it be walking along the miles of coastal paths, taking part in water sports, including surfing, dolphin and whale spotting, bird watching, rambling, cycling, relaxing on one of the many stunning beaches, visiting the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno or the myriad of art galleries – there is something for everyone.

“Great place to stay, close to the center of Penzance”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2014

We stayed here for four nights. The two story apartment was clean, well looked after, and very well equipped, with washer, dryer, dish washer, and lots of kitchen equipment. It is very central, and close to the bus and train stations. It is an easy walk to a lot of good restaurants, and there is grocery shopping both in the immediate vicinity and near by. A great base for exploring Penzance, St. Ives, Lands End, etc. The only caution might be for anyone physically challenged - there are stairs in the apartment, and the escalator and elevator used to access the 2nd floor don't operate outside of the commercial hours in the winter. Outstanding find and good value for money. The staff contact, Grace, was very helpful, and everything went very smoothly. Although we weren't driving, there is secure parking as part of the rental as well.

“Home Away From Home”

Totally recommend John Dory house. We were two couples with two toddlers stay was enough spacious. Few steps away from Penzance station, bus stop and tourist visitor centre. Iceland, tesco express, even high street was easily accessible. Two other couples with us stayed in Crow's nest. They also highly recommend it. We were provided with everything we could imagine including gas BBQ :D FYI for parents with buggies...Escalators and lift works only opening hours of shopping centre as these apartments are located on top of wharfside shopping centre.

“Johns Dory Penzance”

The holiday home is in a great location and really well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Grace the Agent was ever so helpful and checked to see if everything was ok with our stay which it was and we really appreciated this. There was a great welcome pack , fresh flowers and a bottle of cider waiting for us on arrival. The kitchen had everything you needed including a dish washer which was nice and even a tray with biscuits, coffee and tea etc and milk in the fridge. The house felt like home from home and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Penzance.

Many thanks for your kind comments. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and come again soon!

Spacious, clean and stylish accommodation. Well equipped kitchen. Great location. Couldnt have had a better base, right in the town centre, with a view of the sea! Fantastic holiday.

“excellent accomodation, very well equiped, lovely and clean”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2013

We stayed here on our honeymoon, while touring through Uk, this cottage was very well equiped and we found it to be lovely and clean. Brilliant location in walking distance of everything we could need, it was great to be able to securely park the car for a few days and walk around the town.

Dear guest, we are so pleased you enjoyed your honeymoon in John's Dory and thank you for the kind comments. We look forward to welcoming you to Cornwall again in the future.

“Home from home in Cornwall, right next to the sea”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2012

Spent three nights here with my husband for our Wedding Anniversary. It was very well presented and far superior to the majority of self catering properties I have stayed in in the past. Am already planning another visit when the weather is a little warmer!

Thank you. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Merry Christmas
