Location description from manager

The England region

Acton Castle is located in a fantastic part of Cornwall. There are local coves within walking distance of the castle and larger bays with miles of sand. Praa Sands is most renowned for the sands that stretch on for close to a mile and is one of the more popular beaches in Cornwall. Various local attractions are situated around this area, and account for the great popularity that Praa Sands enjoys almost year round. There are great restaurants on the beach at Praa and plenty of opportunity to learn surfing and have fun in the sea.
It is a family friendly beach with rock pools at low tide and lifeguards in the main seasons.

St Michaels Mount can be seen from the Castle grounds and is a must for a fascinating day out. Not far away is the amazing unspoilt surfing beach at Sennen Cove with a fabulous restaurant on the beach overlooking the stunning scenery.

St Ives is only a 15 minute car ride away and a lovely day can be spent in the galleries and shops or sampling the wonderful food in the myriad of local restaurants and cafes. Stunning views are seen from all around St Ives and it too has fantastic surfing beaches with beautiful golden sands.

Penzance

Local attractions include Paradise Park, Trengwainton House, Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, There is a Cider Farm nearby and the incredible Minack Theatre.

Falmouth has a great maritime museum, and slightly further afield for a great day out you can visit the Eden Project with its fascinating bio-domes. Further north is Port Isaac - the home of Doc Martin, and Padstow Harbour - brought to fame by Rick Stein.

Rosudgeon is only 6 miles from Penzance. Here you will find an interesting mix of art studios, elegant historic buildings, individual shops and award winning restaurants. The castle is in a wonderful position for discovering this beautiful part of Cornwall and to make the most of all the area has to offer. Being right on the coastal path it is perfect for walkers and lovers of the great outdoors with all the spectacular scenery.

Praa Sands golf course is only minutes away.

“Fantastic holiday”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2017

We stayed in the February half term and could not have asked for more. There were fresh flowers, wine, biscuits, tea, coffee and more so first impressions were amazing. The garden apartment was clean, tidy and very comfortable. We arrived at night and had no idea what a lovely view we had! The view was so beautiful, I didn't use the dishwasher because it was so nice to look at whilst washing up. It's a short drive to Penzance and we did a few of the walks recommended in the welcome pack. Lots of information was provided so we could plan our day from the sofa! The only slight problem we had was the storage heaters, they were very hot but we turned them down and it was much better. Our daughter especially loved the frogs by the pond and flying her kite. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. Attention to detail was great, umbrella and binoculars were in the porch and blankets for the sofa. It's a home from home. Best part was the puzzles, especially where's wally which took us all week to complete. Overall I would recommend the garden apartment!!

Owner's reply: Dear Jemma, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Acton Castle. We are delighted you had such a wonderful stay with us and you're right, the location and views really are breath-taking, whatever the weather. I will let our caretaker know who much you appreciated her care of the apartment and we look forward to welcoming you back again. Best wishes from the Cornish Seaview Cottages Team
