Enjoy a romantic rural getaway in a luxury built log cabin situated in the peaceful English Liddel Valley, Penton, Cumbria. The cabin is constructed from locally felled larch trees and has a cedar shingle roof, it is in a truly fantastic private location on the banks of the river Liddel which is only yards way from the Scottish Borders.

With home from home comforts that include a fully equipped kitchen, log burner, 2 bedrooms, a luxury bathroom, a separate cloaks, stunning views and a Jacuzzi hot tub outside on the elevated deck. It is a perfect retreat from the stresses of everyday life but yet still close to Carlisle and the Lake District and only yards from the Scottish Borders.

We have, over the years stayed at many log cabins across the country and have become aficionados. The Liddel water cabin is the best we’ve stayed in on every level. The location is stunning and the cabin in fixtures and fittings is perfect. It’s everything and more you could ever want from a log cabin break. The owners could not be more friendly or helpful and we’re already planning out next stay. Five star by what ever measure you use.

Another wonderful break at beautiful Millpond Lodge. The setting is so peaceful, lodge is extremely high spec and exceptionally clean. Will be returning, possibly to the amazing new Minetrack Lodge to celebrate my 50th!

Lovely location, peaceful and quiet yet easy to get to. Well furnished, good quality kitchen equipment. The hot tub was great.

Loved this place soooo much. Perfect location right on the river. Very secluded and luxurious for a romantic stay. I don’t want too many people to find out about this place though!! Close to Hadrian’s Wall - 40mins or so by car. Surrounded by beautiful countryside. Really nice pub a 10min walk up the road. Nice walk along river by Penton Bridge. We were blessed by perfect spring weather for our entire week there and made use of the BBQ and hot tub every night. From the balcony we watched the sun set as the swallows swooped over us. During the night we listened to the owls hooting to each other...bliss... We will never forget being enveloped by this place and its surroundings. And the new place on the hill is amazing - fantastic stair case made with a tree complete with roots on the side! This place is a labour of love!

We really relaxed as a family, loved walks ,the sound of the river, wonderful log fire and hot tub, listened to the owls at night in the trees, would have loved a whole week to explore countryside more

Can't fault a thing about the experience. Beautiful lodge, exceptional location. I hope they never get wifi or phone coverage as being able to totally disconnect is what makes this place so special. Looking forward to returning. Hoping they don't add too many lodges as the isolation is part of the experience.

Stayed at lidded water lodge in early July. Blessed with good weather The lodge exceeded our expectations. Beautifully positioned next to the river the lodge came equipped with all you could require for a lazy few days. Hot tub,barbecue,beautiful vistas and a wonderfully crafted lodge. The smell of the larch, from which the lodge is built I found out, Is intoxicating. Most appealing though was the seclusion,the peace and the quiet. If you are looking for somewhere to recharge your batteries,relax and unwind then I would highly recommend you pay a visit. The lack of internet or phone signal , from my point of view was an added bonus.

How do damage deposits work?
