“Great find.”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2016

Our first visit to North Wales was made extra memorable because of our great stay in Hengoed. I usually spend hours looking at properties before I chose one every year for our holiday and am very fussy where we stay. Was so lucky to find this great house in a brilliant location. Loved being outside the town in a quieter area and so nice to come home to this lovely house after being out all day. It was so clean and airy. Loved the White paint everywhere and the timber easy to clean floors. We loved the walk up the hill behind the house to see the fantastic view over Penrhyn bay. So convenient having a cooperative supermarket a short walk away. Llandudno was a much bigger and busier town that I expected but you definitely would not be bored here. We loved the view of the sea as you came down the hill from the house on your way into town. No complaints at all from the kids.. They were so happy here. Thank you Mark for a lovely stay.

Hi there, many thanks for taking time to write your review of Hengoed. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and found everything to your liking especially the WiFi which I know was important for the children. I look forward to seeing you again in the future. Regards. Mark Harvey

“Perfect holiday home”

We have stayed in Llandudno several times and we just love it. There are so many things to see and do.We love the beautiful Victorian buildings, promenade and pier, great shops and cafes, restaurants, theatre, upland walks with stunning scenery, plus all the surrounding towns and villages which are an absolute delight. Thanks for making our stay perfect Mark. Hengoed is warm, welcoming and relaxing with lovely modern decor and very comfortable rooms. You have taken so much trouble to make sure your guests are very well catered for which was much appreciated. We won't hesitate to recommend Hengoed to friends and family. Very best wishes.

“A lovely cosy house, with a friendly owner”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2013

We have 2 children under 4 and this house perfectly fitted our requirements. The owner was there waiting to greet us and also help direct us to the house via mobile phone when we were nearly there! The house has been beautifully restored and stylishly decorated throughout. We are already looking at dates for our next stay and highly recommend this property!!

Thank you so much for your kind review and I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We think it is so important to meet guests on arrival especially as many come from overseas. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Mark Harvey

“Perfect For All Attractions”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2013

"Hengoed Cottage" is the TARDIS of the self catering Cottages from the outside it looks very inviting with the timber Decking area to have your drinks on a sunny day or evening. What took us by surprise was how well the cottage is equipped, you would be hard pressed to find anything that you needed in the kitchen or other wise that was not catered for. Our 6yr old Grandson was pleased to find his bedroom had two beds one for him and one for his friends Micky Mouse, Poo bear and his giant Dopey the Dwarf and Wifi for his ipad. If you wanted to use the bus service Arriva (bus stop at the end of the road) Arriva do a ticket for all day travel for £3:90pp with your freedom pass which we used to great effect. We would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

Hi, Many thanks for your kind review and I look forward to welcoming back to Hengoed cottage in the future. Regards. Mark Harvey

“A Lovely Base for a Lllandudno Holiday”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2013

Situated 5 minutes’ from Llandudno (by car) this charming cottage sleeps six people. I stayed here with my husband and two teenage daughters. On arrival the cottage was as clean as a new pin and very well-equipped. it is cosy yet stylishly decorated throughout, with artwork depicting beaches and sunsets on the walls, which give it a restful vibe and a reminder that you are at the seaside. Additional touches such as fresh flowers, candles and scatter cushions on the beds made it all the more welcoming. The kitchen was particularly impressive. I am so used to kitchens in holiday homes where you are lucky to even find a tin opener, but we found everything we needed here and I enjoyed preparing meals here. The beds were all comfy and we slept soundly. The leather sofas in the living room were also much appreciated when we were watching TV as we had the space to spread out a bit. Although ideal for us, I would not recommend Hengoed for guests with mobility problems, due to the rather steep steps leading to the door of the property. These could be even more hazardous in slippery, wet conditions. A decked balcony area at the front provides garden furniture and sun loungers, which is lovely on sunny days. It also looks attractive at night when the solar lights come on. A folder of places of interest in the area was provided at the cottage, which we found helpful to refer to. Wi-Fi at the cottage came in useful and the washing machine and drying area was a godsend after our gorge scrambling trip when we came back with wet clothes. Mobile phone reception was not great, though. I very much hope to stay at Hengoed again.

“Best of the best”

This was our fourth year at the house and it was as fantastic as our past visits. Mark goes the extra mile to make this home from home and supplies much more than any other place we have stayed. We love North Wales so this is a fantastic location to explore all the arrears around. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else and have already booked the house for next year. Thanks again Mark, so looking forward to next year.

“Great location, spotless premises and superb value for money.”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2013

My wife and I over the years have continually been disappointed with the state of hotels and a variety of venues even after spending large amounts for rooms. What a surprise to find such a spotlessly clean cottage and also having Mark meet us there personally to show us around. A view of the sea and mountains from the bedroom window, Llandudno a stones throw away and Snowdonia within easy reach by car. I recommend you drive from Llandudno to Betsw-y-coed and up from there on the A5 to Bangor. On the way park by the toilets on the left by lake Ogwin and behind the toilets is a mountain stream and a path up to a lake. As a photographer I count this as the most stunning spot we saw without having to walk miles. Return from Bangor to Llandudno along the coast on the A55. We were privileged to have a tawny owl and young around the cottage which we watched from the patio at dusk. At the bottom of the hill is a supermarket and Chinese takeaway which were very convenient. One of the most enjoyable holidays we have ever had!

“Home from home”

Came all the way from Germany with five friends to this superb cottage "Hengoed" for a week´s holiday in Wales. We were warmly welcomed by Mark, who since my booking in September, had done everything possible to make our stay so perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The cottage was immaculately clean and had so many well thought out touches about it that you simply just had to feel at home there. The weather was perfect the whole week so when we were "at home" most of the time was spent on the spacious patio. Having no car was no problem. Buses ran frequently into Llandudno,Rhos and Conway from just round the corner. Train services from Llandudno were also excellent to many interesting places. A tip: try the steam train from Ffestinniog to Porthmadog. Spectacular views! Finally-do try the cottage. You won´t be disappointed.

“A superb holiday property”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

We have recently returned from a family holiday at Hengoed cottage and can't praise it enough. We were met by Mark the owner, who made us feel very welcome and was so helpful throughout the booking experience. The cottage was immaculate in all areas and it's obvious that the owner had put a lot of thought into creating a real homely feel. The quality of the furniture, beds, bedding and fittings was superb and really had that "luxury" feel to it. The cottage was totally spotless in all areas and so different to other holiday lets that we had stayed in before. We were a party of 6 and the cottage was really spacious for our needs, especially with the luxury of having 2 bathrooms. The front decked area was great for outdoor dining and a real sun trap for most of the day. As for location, it was a 5 minute drive to either Llandudno or Rhos on sea and most days we left the car behind and walked into town. There is however a bus stop at the end of the road. To sum up, if your looking for a holiday cottage without the worry of sub standard accommodation then Hengoed is perfect and from now on we won't be staying anywhere else when we visit Llandudno. Well done Mark.
