Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh is easily reached by private or public transport so visitors can enjoy the varied attractions of the region as well as the famous sights of Edinburgh.

Peebles

As a Royal Burgh, this small town of Peebles dates back to the twelfth century. The town's motto "Peebles for Pleasure" expresses the views of its many visitors and the town's coat of arms depicting salmon fish celebrates its popularity with fishermen. Guests who love walking return to Peebles to explore the many and varied walks in the area which suit all abilities. Glentress Forest has been described as the No. 1 tourist attraction in the Scottish Borders and is a magnet for mountain bikers. There are well marked routes for mountain bikers, walkers, horse riders and wildlife enthusiasts. Like all Border towns, Peebles has an excellent golf course.

Peebles has many other attractions for visitors who come to enjoy one of the many festivals held throughout the year. Peebles hosts an annual Jazz Festival, ArtFestival, Highland Games, Agricultural Show and of course the world famous week long Beltane Festival held in June.

From this holiday apartment, a three minute riverside walk takes you to Peebles High Street with its wealth of popular independent shops, restaurants and take away food shops, local theatre, swimming pool, galleries, the world famous River Tweed, Tweed Green, Hay Lodge Park and other local attractions. There is a Peebles Town Trail and easy riverside walks take you to nearby picturesque Neidpath Castle. The holiday apartment is one minute's walk away from the foot of the wooded Venlaw Hill (part of Glentress Forest) where there are lovely evening walks as well.

Peebles makes an excellent centre for exploring the historic houses, castles and abbeys, famous gardens, woollen mills and craft centres throughout the Scottish Borders. Traquair House, Dawyk Botanic Garden and Kailzie Gardens (where you may see ospreys) are only a few miles away. Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, is little more than 20 miles (32 km) away. Regular and frequent buses stop very near to the apartment.

“A super holiday flat”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2013

I stayed in this flat for 3 nights over Easter with my mother and my 2 1/2 year old. It was comfortable and warm. New kitchen and relatively new bathroom with a super shower - no bath though. Great location and ample on street parking. Would definitely stay here again if in Peebles.

Owner's reply: Thank you Dawn. Please contact us again in the future if you return to Peebles.

“cozy and comfortable home away from home”

Reviewed 13 Mar 2013

I enjoyed staying in this warm, clean, and inviting apartment. It had many nice touches to make it feel more like home. The decorations and artwork were lovely and interesting, and many books and brochures were available to find out more about the Borders area. The property was especially nice since it was located right near a lovely stream that connected to the Tweed, and it was also just minutes from the bus that went to Edinburgh. One good feature was the enclosed shower in the bath, with plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well-equipped and the owner had left fresh flowers in the lounge to make it even more welcoming. I would definitely stay at this charming apartment again!

Owner's reply: Thank you - we do try to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay in our apartment and are grateful when they appreciate the 'finishing touches'.
