An immaculate 2 bedroomed detached barn conversion in the Peak District village of Peak Forest. Only 5 minutes drive to the spa town of Buxton, and Castleton, famous for its caverns, Blue John and Mam Tor. Bakewell, Chatsworth house and Haddon hall less then 20 minutes drive. Ideally located for walking, with the Pennine way right on the doorstep, Eldon Hole - one of the wonders of the Peaks is just 20 minutes' walk from the cottage.
This homely cottage has open countryside walks from your front door and is also only minutes away from the Monsal Trail at Miller's Dale, the Derbyshire Dales and the more rugged Peaks of the northern Peak District.
Candlemas Cottage sleeps 4 - one double room, one bedroom with bunk beds. Upstairs bathroom with bath and shower over. Views over open countryside. Fully Centrally heated. Open plan living downstairs with two 3-seater leather sofas, electric fire, television with freesat box, DVD player. Fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, dining table and 4 chairs.
Please note: There is a WiFi connection at the property but due to the rural location of the cottage, this can be a bit patchy at times.
The village recreation ground with children's play area is just a few strides away and the village pub is only a couple of minutes' walk.
Weekend breaks, weekly longer stays available. Changeover day flexible.
Minimum 2 night stay at Weekends (Friday and Saturday), and 3 night stay other days.
Private off street parking for two cars next to the cottage.

“Great base to explore the Peak District”
The cottage was fairly priced and immaculately clean. Kitchen was fully stocked. Lounge was comfortable with decent TV and box. Views and setting were perfect. Nice and quiet.

“Cottage was fine”
Cottage was fine but vicious dog living at farm nect door bit my leg on second day of stay. Not the best place if you have kids
Owner's reply: We have lived just behind the cottage for the last 6 years and have never encountered a vicious dog before. We were on holiday at the time, so we do not know where this loose dog came from and have not seen it since, so assume it must have been a loose visiting dog (there is another larger group holiday let nearby). We are sad that this happened to one of our guests but would like to assure any future guests that this has never happened before and we have 4 young children ourselves who love living here so we hope this review will not put anyone off booking.

Nice views. Cottage as stated small but all you needed. Close to public footpaths. No garden but bench at the front was perfect for morning coffees, watching nature and the farmers.
“Peaceful New Year”
Lovely cottage in the countryside, peaceful and quiet, very clean and tidy, had everything we needed for a quiet few days into the New Year. Only negatives was there was no sound coming from the dvd player, so we couldn't watch DVDs and the bathroom was tiny, but other than that, a delightful little cottage..
Owner's reply: Hi Donna - thank you for your review. We could have sorted the problem with the DVD player for you, had you let us know about it during your stay. The bathroom is quite small, yes, but we made the choice to put a bath in instead of just a shower, to help out families, as we have young children ourselves and we know that it's important to have a bath for little ones while on holiday, so we felt it was a compromise worth making to be able to give the very best facilities for guests that choose it at the low price we offer it for. We think there is adequate room in there to do whatever you need to do in a bathroom! We hope it doesn't put you off coming again sometime. Best wishes, Ellen

Owner's reply: Hello thanks for your comments. A previous guest had accidentally packed the bread knife and scissors and they have now fortunately been returned! Had you alerted us to this during your stay, we would have provided you with spares. We have now installed a brand new standard sized under counter fridge and separate under counter freezer for the convenience of guests. Had we known you were allergic to pet hair, we wouldn't have recommended you to book a pet friendly cottage, as whilst we make every effort to remove all pet hair, we cannot guarantee that every single hair is removed. We have, however now replaced the rug in the lounge area. We have not received any other complaints about the sofas or the cooker hood - I'm sorry that they were not to your liking. The sofas are new and from a reputable retailer - not cheap and nasty as you might find elsewhere in affordably priced accommodation. The cooker hood is also installed to the manufacturer's specification - sorry to hear that you hit your head on it.
Absolutely loved the cottage and the park situated out front. The whole area of the peak was amazing and as a family had an amazing time. We will return without hesitation. So much to do and is situated 5 mile to Buxton for shops or chapel en le frith. Both have an Aldi or Morrisons. 30 mins drive to Matlock baths which is like a seaside town and the heights of Abraham which we also great and a fab day out for the little one. We loved going down the caverns and doing the treks into the peaks so all in all a fantastic place to go and see. On the way home we stopped off at lady bower res which I have attached a pic. All week I must have said “look at that amazing view” a thousand times. Breathtaking area to go see. We will be back again.
