Description

An immaculate 2 bedroomed detached barn conversion in the Peak District village of Peak Forest. Only 5 minutes drive to the spa town of Buxton, and Castleton, famous for its caverns, Blue John and Mam Tor. Bakewell, Chatsworth house and Haddon hall less then 20 minutes drive. Ideally located for walking, with the Pennine way right on the doorstep, Eldon Hole - one of the wonders of the Peaks is just 20 minutes' walk from the cottage.

This homely cottage has open countryside walks from your front door and is also only minutes away from the Monsal Trail at Miller's Dale, the Derbyshire Dales and the more rugged Peaks of the northern Peak District.

Candlemas Cottage sleeps 4 - one double room, one bedroom with bunk bed. Upstairs bathroom with bath and shower over. Views over open countryside. Fully Centrally heated. Open plan living downstairs with two 3-seater leather sofas, electric fire, television with freesat box. Fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer.

The village recreation ground with children's play area is just a few strides away and the village pub is only a couple of minutes' walk.

Weekend breaks, weekly longer stays available. Changeover day flexible.

Minimum 2 night stay at Weekends (Friday and Saturday), and 3 night stay other days.

Private off street parking for two cars next to the cottage.

Ideal for families - children welcome.

Dogs welcome, maximum 2.

“Wow”

Absolutely loved the cottage and the park situated out front. The whole area of the peak was amazing and as a family had an amazing time. We will return without hesitation. So much to do and is situated 5 mile to Buxton for shops or chapel en le frith. Both have an Aldi or Morrisons. 30 mins drive to Matlock baths which is like a seaside town and the heights of Abraham which we also great and a fab day out for the little one. We loved going down the caverns and doing the treks into the peaks so all in all a fantastic place to go and see. On the way home we stopped off at lady bower res which I have attached a pic. All week I must have said “look at that amazing view” a thousand times. Breathtaking area to go see. We will be back again.

This cottage is in a lovely village with many walks from the door. Pleasant views from the lounge. The A623 passes through the village which can be quite noisy and very busy. The property itself is more appropriate for 2 people than 4 as it is quite small and could do with a few things tidying up. My main issue was the overall cleanliness which let this property down. The floors had quite obviously not been hoovered or cleaned as there was hair and other bits on the floor. The curtains need to be rid of cobwebs and maybe cutlery and crockery checked as we had to wash before using. The ‘wardrobe’ is ok if you are about 6ft tall, I couldn’t reach the hangers and even though it is stated the property has WiFi you may if lucky get a weak connection sat on the stairs!

Lovely cottage in a quiet village. We really liked the cottage and had a great time. A few things to note though is that there are no shops in the village so make sure you bring everything you need. The pub at bottom of the road is nice and dog friendly but the food was just okay and not a lot of choice for beers or drinks. We still enjoyed it though.

A beautiful cottage cosy and well. Equipped. Ellen was amazing! Cottage close to Buxton Bakewell, Castleton all in easy reach would definitely recommend even with children as little park outside the cottage.

Lovely, well appointed cottage with lots of nice finishing touches,such as tea, coffee, milk, washing up liquid, handwash etc. all provided. We arrived in the evening and it was wonderful to walk in to a warm inviting place to stay with everything we needed. Our visit was very brief with little opportunity for sight-seeing as we were visiting relatives but the cottage totally suited our requirements. The area is beautiful and we hope to return again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is nicely furnished and comfortable throughout. It is detached, so no need to worry about noise, and we managed to squeeze 3 cars into the designated parking area. The downstairs area comfortably housed 4 adults... the rooms upstairs are fairly compact, but comfortable enough! There is a pub a 2 minute walk away which serves excellent food. The area is beautiful and has some stunning walks. Booking and gaining access was all straightforward. Would recommend!

We all enjoyed our 3 night stay in Candlemas cottage. It is well equipped and in a great area, close to Buxton and Bakewell. The kids loved the playground opposite. We had issues with the wifi when we were there and the curtain in the small bedroom was paper thin - not great when the sun shines in first thing in the morning! Otherwise all very good and would recommend.

cottage was well equipped and beautifully clean and tidy. Set in a quiet location a short ride to many of the peaks attractions. We enjoyed some lovely walks even though the weather wasn't up to much. The caverns are pricey if you want to do them all...we were disappointed with speedwell and the peak cavern, not much to see . Highlight of the break was Go Ape in Buxton.

How do damage deposits work?
