“Marvellous stay for the family, including our cat and dog”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2017

We stayed at the Oker View Cottage at Darley Bridge Matlock the weekend before last together with our cat and dog. The lovely scenary in the Peak District needs no further introduction from me. The cottage was nice, cosy and conveniently located at 5-minutes' drive from Matlock rail station. What I would like to highlight in this review is the friendly and enthusiastic help of the cottage owner, Elaine, which went far beyond the provisions in the cottage for a comfortable stay. When planning for the vacation, we wrote to Elaine to ask if we could bring our cat and dog. Elaine promptly said no problem. We wrote to Elaine again to ask for advice on transport in the local area, as we would bring a cat and a dog but not a car. Elaine responded promptly again and said that she had checked with a taxi operator which would allow cats and dogs to be carried. A big thank you to Elaine for a marvellous stay.

“Great Value Family Cottage in Good Peak District Location”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2016

Our first trip to the Peak District as a family of five, we found the cottage in a really good location to explore the area. The cottage is one of a small row of three in a quiet cul-de-sac, and was presented in really good condition with a nice layout, including three good sized bedrooms. Everything we needed had been provided by the owners to ensure a comfortable stay without having to bring much at all from home. Darley Bridge village is situated on the River Derwent, but whilst the village itself is not especially picturesque, it is only a short walk to more scenic surroundings, and a short drive takes you to some superb walks, outstanding views and very pleasant towns and villages. Next door to the cottage is a proper local pub with a good atmosphere and a nice simple good value food menu.

“Fantastic 5 days”

Lovely cottage. Perfect for visiting the peaks and also not too far from manchester and hull which were both visited for football and corrie purposes!! A perfect home from home! Only downside was that the washing machine was not in use!

“Wonderful homely cottage”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2014

Had a wonderful long weekend at Oker View in Darley bridge. Very much a home from home cottage and very helpful and friendly owners. There was everything we needed and more! Close to Bakewell and Matlock as well as Chatsworth House for the Christmas Markets. Village pub within 10 metres of the cottage with good food and ale... Great holiday home - would strongly recommend.

“A great break”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2014

It is a great cottage, full of character. It is described as fully equiped and it certainly was, everything we needed was provided. You need a car to get around, but the sights and surrounding area are great and well worth the trip. We had a great time, saw all the local sights we wanted and had a great break. Well worth going again in the future.
