Life's a Beach is located in the beautiful Coral Cove condo on the beach with great views of the sea and beach-life. There are three large well-appointed luxury bedrooms, three high quality bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen/lounge area which has slide away doors onto a balcony which stretches the whole property. The property has been interior designed to a high standard - recent updates (April 14) have been done by Coral Island Interiors - and we endeavour to keep adding new items - our new outdoor sofa, chair and coffee table have just arrived, as has our Barbadian inspired artwork - three more paintings in Nov 14.. Built-in air conditioning is in all rooms.
The staff at Coral Cove maintain the beach area in front of the building - there are ample sunbeds and umbrellas which always seem to be the first out there on a raked beach even when we get up early. There is a cordoned off safe swimming area which is sandy throughout. Slightly further out is the best area in Barbados to swim with turtles and there are often two or three boats anchored there (see photo) with people snorkelling. The turtles nest on the beach. We recently saw loads of tiny turtles scampering down to the sea. They had to be caught by the turtle people for safer letting out at night. We have two snorkel sets (facemask, snorkels, fins) available for use in the apartment. If you don't want to swim out as far as the turtles then there are reefs either side. There are cool boxes for taking out onto the beach or alternatively, there are beach bars which do wicked rum punches and surprisingly good fried fish, spring rolls, wedges etc.
Coral Cove itself was completed in 2007. It has 14 apartments. Life's a Beach has one parking space which is easily accessed via drive thru electronic gates. It has permanently manned security who cover both the condo and beach chairs. Access to the condo areas is by security code.
The balcony consists of a lovely lounging sofa area, a dining table with benches and a 7 person hot-tub (maintained each week). Typically, you won't want it to be hot unless you are a very strange person. Good to keep it about the same temperature as the sea and good for sitting in and sipping champagne. The balcony is a perfect height - high enough for a great view and just below the leaves of the palms.
Life's a Beach has three good sized bedrooms all designed to high spec. The master bedroom opens with sliding doors direct onto the balcony. It has ensuite granite bathroom with two basins, large bath and walk-in shower. It has a walk-in dressing/wardrobe area. There is a flat-screen cable TV. The second and third bedrooms are at the rear of the condo with shutters out onto the landing area. The second bedroom has a queen bed and en-suite granite bathroom with two basins and walk-in shower. The third bedroom has twin beds which can be converted into a king and has the bathroom with walk-in shower adjacent. New fluffy pillows and bed coverings have just been delivered.
The kitchen area has high specification fittings - I have to say, my favourite in the wine chiller. There is a separate room for the washer/dryer. It's great to be able to cook up a meal while chatting to people in the lounge area and the balcony. You don't really need a barbeque here - the kitchen feels as though it is part of an outside area. The lounge area has two good sized sofas and armchair, flat screen cable tv, Apple TV (for use with your own iTunes account) with Bose sound-bar and a DVD player. It has wifi which works really well - much better than a shared hotel connection - for facetiming/skyping family back home. There is an iPod speaker doc for iPhone 4 and 5.

The Saint James Parish region
Barbados is the most Easterly of the Caribbean islands. It is made of Coral - hence the talcum powder like beaches - whereas many of the other islands are volcanic. The West Coast is truly Caribbean with gently lapping waves, great warm tropical swimming and palms. The restaurants are superb with a fusion of local, European and Asian cuisine. Golf is fabulous. Barbados is a sophisticated island that has a bit for everyone from kids to playboys. Masses to do on the island.
The Paynes Bay beach is generally considered the best beach on the "platinum" west coast of Barbados. The walk along the beach is very good - particularly first thing in the morning. Turning right, you can walk up past the Sandy Lane hotel. Turning left you can walk past the House hotel (Britain's Next Top Model) and Daphne's restaurant. I would guess there is about a mile of beach until you have to get your feet wet and paddle to the next bit.
Restaurants in Barbados are superb. Within nighttime walking distance are Daphne's and Scarlet. In Barbados, the pavements are slightly dodgy, but if you are ok with that, the Cliff, Cariba and the restaurants at the Sandy Lane are also walkable - within about half a mile. Just consult, the brochures in the condo for many others - don't miss the show at Ragamuffins!
Holetown is about a mile away - according to my Run Tracker - with many restaurants, bars and shops. Lime Grove is a new shopping complex with shops from leading designers - RL, Armani, Louis Vouitton etc. Prices are not completely over the top as it is duty-free. Good for buying watches.
Quite a nice jog can be had to Holetown through the Sandy Lane old golf course. Golf is excellent although pricey. Apes Hill is superb if you can get on it. I've played the Sandy Lane Country Club a few times which is good. I've yet to play Royal Westmoreland. You should contact them via their websites to play or use the Concierge service from Sotheby's to book.
Barbados is great for kids and teens - we have been bringing ours for the last 12 years. Lots of things to do - just google it I guess. This morning we went zip-wiring over the rain forest; paddleboarding seems to be the latest craze. There are various watersports available on the beach - Jetskis, small saiboats, being pulled around on a piece of rubber behind a speedboat etc.

"Relaxation in luxury"
If you're looking to get away from your hectic daily life then Life's a Beach - Coral Cove 8 is the perfect place to unwind and relax in luxury surroundings. The beach front location is spectacular and also practical, as it's only a 5 minute drive to Holetown which has a wide selection of restaurants. This was our first stay at Life's a Beach but we'll definitely being going back.
