Parthenay

Parthenay is a medieval town on the River Thouet and a visit to the old quarter is well worth it. The ramparts of the old fortress is the back drop to the Bastialle day firework celebrations when wine and food and music go on into the evening. There are many festivals and events in and around Parthenay through the Spring and Summer from Antique fairs to Medieval festivals and a Week long games festival with over 3000 games to play for children from 6- 60 years young

“Forget any apprehensions.”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2012

Have recently returned from an extremely pleasant week spent at Eeyores Corner. The location was excellent - quiet and restful, which was exactly what we wanted. Property was very comfortable and obviously maintained to a very high standard by the owners, Dave and Jilly Rosenberg who had provided everything that was necessary within the house. Our hosts made us most welcome (including a much appreciated welcome pack, wine, milk etc.) and thoroughly explained all the general workings of the property and guidelines for making the most of our stay. We found Dave and Jilly the best of "neighbours" being both very helpful and concerned that we enjoy our stay yet without in any way being obtrusive. We would highly recommend this holiday rental.

“Verry, verry good”

We had such a lovely experience staying at Eeyores Corner. The cottage was beautiful and the owners made us feel very welcome. We settled in straight away and enjoyed every minute of the lovely place and surroundings.Use of a hot top made it so nice and relaxing as did a walk down to the river at the bottom of the garden. We will not think twice about coming back..

“Has all and more than needed to high standards......Just perfect”

Eeyores corner is the perfect base for all. Couples to large families will enjoy. Hosts fantastic, location and weather excellent. As a family we have spent the last six holidays in various locations of France. After our experiences I cannot rate the accommodation high enough. Clean, comfortable and equipped for all needs. The splash pool is perfect for cooling off and the hot tub lovely. Fishing in river and relaxing in the garden along with BBQ's just makes for a perfect holiday even if you don't go out. But if you don't you will miss a rather hidden gem of a location in France. Historic cities, beautiful villages and landscapes, major attractions, swimming lakes and markets. All within easy travel distances. What more could you ask? Don't hesitate to book! But not before we do again!

“Everything we expected and lots more!!!!”

Great location to stay, with lots to see and do, if thats what you want. Otherwise just kick back and relax in the hot tub, or enjoy a glass or two on the riverbank. If you are lucky you may see the Ragonda swimming along. Recommend a visit to the troglodite caves at Rochemellier. Wine tasting at Saumur including a cave tour. The Ile de Re is magnificent especially St Martin. Last but not least is Venise Verte for a lovely punt ride through the canal network with a guide. We will go again and would not hesitate to recommend this gite.
