Location description from owner

The England region

Ideal for Cycling & Walking, The Forest of Dean is perfect for those who wish to explore our magnificent Forests.

Once the hunting ground of Kings from the Normans onwards, the Royal Forest of Dean possesses a character, history and culture all of its own. Covering some 24,000 acres, year round it is the ideal location for a short break, family holiday or as a base for touring.

First time visitors are enchanted by the variety of attractions and activities, while those familiar with this peaceful and unique slice of England's heritage return to enjoy its charms again and again.

From Ross-on-Wye in the north to Chepstow in the south, Gloucester in the east and Monmouth in the west, nowhere in the Forest is more than half an hour away by car from Deanfield or The Coach House. Picturesque Parkend village is within easy walking distance with a Post Office, steam trains, restaurant, shops and an Inn.

Parkend

Parkend itself is superbly positioned at the heart of the Forest, putting many amenities within easy reach. Our location could hardly be better, as many regular visitors will testify.

Places of Interest nearby are: Go-Ape, Puzzlewood, the international St Pierre golf course, Clearwell Caves, the Shambles Victorian Village, Taurus Crafts, the Dean Heritage Centre, Symmonds Yat, the Nagshead Nature Reserve and the National BIrds of Prey Centre. The accommodation was great and just as expected from the description. The owners were on hand and very helpful. The kids loved the access to the garden with trampoline and swings. The location was great for cycling, being able to get onto the cycle path within ~ 500m and from there only 4km to the Cannop cycle centre.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do feel so lucky where we are situated with the cycle trail starting from the gate. Hope to see you again soon Kind regards Christine & Nigel
