The Ile-de-France region
Paris is a superb city to visit at any time of year. It is easy to get around, and exciting to explore - always offering up a new suprise, particularly if you decide to walk...and take your time.
Despite all it's fame, Montmartre has retained a unique village atmosphere that sets it apart from other areas in Paris. Perched on a hill with spectacular views, Montmartre is an area full of surprises. The myriad of streets that make up Montmartre and adjoining Abbesses are a pleasure to explore - full of restaurants, bars, museums and the market in rue de Lepic is a classic - with excellent butchers, seafood, bakers and some great cafes.

"Spacious apartment near to Sacre Coeur"
We stayed for five nights in October/November 2012 with two boys aged 14 and 9. Very spacious apartment. The separate tv lounge was great for the boys and plenty of DVDs to chose from as English speaking television channels were limited - but you don't come to Paris to watch television! Ideal for self catering as there are local shops and supermarkets nearby. Plenty of restaurants as well if you want to eat out. Well situated and close to four Metro stations - though not as close as suggested in the guide - would allow ten minutes walking time. If arriving in the dark, with heavy luggage and children, it's worth taking a taxi from the Gard du Nord, as the streets close to the apartment are very busy, and it is difficult to keep everyone together!

"Genuine Paris Appartment in interesting part of Paris"
The appartment was near to the Sacre Coeur but otherwise was well away form the more usual "tourist" haunts. The Metro though was close so it was easy to get into central Paris etc and there were lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The route to the Metro goes through an area where there are lots of black market salesman on the streets and this felt a bit inmtimidating but was no problem at all particularly once we worked out a route to avoid them. The flat met all our needs - although the abscence of a microwave and the pots and pans for cooking were a bit limited if we had wanted to cook. The Guardienne did not speak any english and was a real "traditional" person - insistent that the ruubbish was put out, etc. - to us this was all part of the experience and felt we were in the "real" Paris. The owner communicates well in English and was very helpful - sorting everything out and also contacts us to make sure all went well. It was also very useful to have the nearby underground (secure) car park - although again be aware they do not speak English and the security man did not seem to be expecting us (although the flat owner had booked us in) - but this was no problem - the security man let us in and then we sorted it all out with the manager the next day. During the day we took the Metro into Paris center and in the evening we tended to walk locally and find restaurants etc - this worked very well - there are lots in the area. So a good location to stay - in an area with "colour" - lots of artists / unusal shops / etc and a good base to visit the Paris sites and other areas around Paris from - particularly if you have a car!

Good location - convenient distance (10 mins walk) from Gare du Nord and at the foot of Sacre Coeur. Spacious apartment comfortably appointed and well stocked for self catering and a Carrefour round the corner and boulangerie across the road. Montmatre has plenty to offer and all just a few minutes stroll away. Metro stations Abbesses and Anvers nearby.

"A perfect location in a traditional and spacious Paris apartment"
We spent a long weekend in this apartment which lies in the shadow of the beautiful Sacre Coeur. More than enough room for 4 people and everything that you need for a comfortable stay. It was a great base and there were lots of places to eat round about. we can recommend Cheri Bibi and Cafe Botak at the top of the steps. Very handy for the metro and the open tour bus. We have always loved Montmatre and Sacre Coeur and having having found somewhere so perfect to stay we will definitely be back - hopefully very soon.

"We felt we belonged in Paris, and the place ours, can't recommend it more highly than that."
We loved our stay in Montmartre. I've visited Paris a lot, but nearly always stayed in the Latin Quarter or close to Gare du Nord to get an early train. This apartment was such a different experience in many ways, and so refreshing, that it was almost as if I'd discovered a new Paris, without losing any of the things I most loved about the old one. As you can read from the reviews, which so inspired me to book for our visit earlier this year and which are bang-on, the apartment is roomy and very sunny, with everything you'd think of, and many extras which I'd not have considered before visiting: the books, the dvds, the kitchen. etc etc. We felt we belonged in Paris, and that the place was ours. Can't recommend it more highly than that. Book it as an alternative to a tiny hotel room or cramped apptmt in the centre and it'll likely be the best decision you made on your holiday.

"What an amazing home away from home - The perfect apartment"
What an amazing home away from home! We would thoroughly recommend this wonderful apartment to any family looking for a base in Paris. The apartment was clean and well appointed and the location was excellent. The apartment was perfect for us - four adults and it was more like staying in a friend’s home rather than a rental apartment. It is a true reflection of life in Paris. We appreciated the ability to make our own meals and the kitchen was just divine to cook in and pretty much had everything you needed. The living areas very spacious and the bathroom was great. There were cafes, restaurants, an excellent supermarket, bank and a wonderful bakery nearby. The owners were wonderful to deal with; extremely friendly and helpful. We had an awesome holiday experience and the accommodation was excellent and in the best location, only short 1 minute walk to the base of the Sacré-Coeur. We will definitely be back in the future and recommending this to all of our friends. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone
