Description

the sourcherry Pantelleria is the result of a complete restoration of an ancient dammuso, who wanted to keep the hallmarks of its history.

  The dammuso Pantelleria is a typical house, built with lava stones that make it cool in summer and warm in winter, characterized by high vaulted ceilings. The dammuso sourcherry has been designed and furnished in the most 'small details, the furniture, tiles, chandeliers, lights, make that guests can dive into the typical atmosphere between Arab and Pantelleria.

The dammuso has a large kitchen with all the amenities: stove, refrigerator, oven and microwave, a large living room with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower, a bedroom.

Outside, is located a wide a terrace with long barbecue in masonry, washbasins and a bathroom.

Furthermore, guests can relax on soft cushions placed on the roof of dammuso where they can enjoy a beautiful sunset in the summer is right in front of the house. On a clear day you can admire the coast of Tunisia and the lighthouse of Cape Bon.

In the district of dig, where the dammuso is located, there are shops, bakeries, greengrocers, restaurants, pubs and also the only film present on the island

“Perfect Pantescan retreat; a home from home”

Dammuso Dell’Amarena, Pantelleria The Dammuso sits above the town of Scauri amongst olive groves on Pantelleria’s southern side with uninterrupted views of the sea towards Tunisia - visible one day during our stay. The configuration of the traditional house offers many opportunities to enjoy (or in my case, to hide from) the sun; a voice of upper (rear) or lower (front) terraces, entry courtyard, captured between walls of black volcanic rock, or from the flat painted domes of the dammuso itself. Inside the house is beautifully cool and charmingly decorated, retaining the characteristics of the traditional construction but with all mod cons. The photographs we have seen on line do not adequately convey the qualities of the building or the setting. Hosts Andrea and Graziella could not have been more helpful and it was lovely to be in the company of such a loving couple. Andrea provided us with a hire car on the island and pointed out local contacts and places of interest - Graziella always on hand to prepare meals if asked and providing ‘welcome’ and ‘leaving’ cakes, as well as a surprise birthday cake for our son’s 19th birthday. We felt totally welcomed and trusted by the extended family, including their daughter Ludovica who we met ‘virtually’ and who assisted in organising the trip on line. My wife, in particular, spent time getting to know Graziella although we only stayed for a week we felt that we had made some new friends. This included the neighbours dog, Ted, who accompanied us one evening on a walk to the natural sauna cave nearby. We would unreservedly recommend this property as a base from which to explore this unique island.
