Romantic hilltop retreat – Authentic Tuscany with private pool and garden

Casa Foscoli is the perfect romantic retreat for those looking to ‘get away from it all’. Situated in the centre of the Medieval village of Montefoscoli perched high on a hill is an ancient monastery dating back to the 16th century and it is here where you will find a beautifully restored apartment idea for a couple or young family.

Montefoscoli is situated on the Strada del vino – The wine route of the Pisan hills and is close to many vineyards and wineries in addition to being close to Pisa, Lucca, Florence and San Gimignano.

The ground floor apartment at Casa Foscoli retains character features such as a chestnut beamed ceilings and original archways which link the romantic bedroom to the charming sitting room and kitchen.

For those who love to dine al fresco Casa Foscoli has a private dining terrace with a large table and chairs which leads from the kitchen. Outside guests have the sole use of a small mature garden with a lawn.

The romantic pool with Italian sculptures and fountains is situated on the lawned terrace in front of the main part of the monastery and offers incredible views over the Pisan valley and hills. On a clear day you can see the ‘Leaning Tower of Pisa and in the evening you can watch the sun set into the Mediterranean Sea.

The property owners Claudia and family live in the main part of the monastery and are available should you need them. However, they will also respect your privacy when it comes to using the pool and lawned terrace both of which are for the sole use of their guest.

For those of you who like the idea of an authentic Tuscan evening with a real Italian family Claudia can offer you a Pizza night on the terrace with home cooked pizza from the purpose built pizza oven in the garden!

LIVING ROOM

Situated off the kitchen with character beamed ceilings – with satellite TV and a comfortable sofa bed which can sleep an additional adult guest or 2 children

BEDROOM

The romantic bedroom has a double/queen-size four poster bed and a door which leads out into the garden.

BATHROOM

Situated close to the bedroom the airy bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin, bidet and WC. Guests will receive a welcome bathroom toiletries pack which include: shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, cotton wool and toothbrush.

BED LINEN and TOWELS

All bed linen, towels and adult bathrobes included in the rate. For bookings of 14 nights or more bed linen and towels changed once a week at no extra cost. For a stay of less than 14 nights – bed linen and towel changes are available at an additional rate.

OUTSIDE AREAS

A small garden situated at the rear of the property for sole use of our guests. In addition, there is a large lawned terrace in front of the main house with a private pool for sole use of our guests. The beautiful gardens are the creation of the property owner’s son who is studying horticulture and agriculture at university in Florence- The lawned terrace and pool looks out over the Pisan hills and valley and on a clear day you can see the Leaning tower of Pisa

Getting around

To get the most out of the area we do recommend a rental car, especially if you would like to explore the hill top towns and countryside. Eating out options in the villages are limited and we recommend you try the restaurants in Peccioli and Palaia. Buses are available from the village during the daytime to the town of Pontedera. The journey takes just under one hour. From Pontedera you can get trains to Florence and Pisa.

How do damage deposits work?
