Location description from owner

The English Riviera region

South Devon is a popular holiday destination, boasting some of the highest temperatures during the summer months in England. Paignton is part of an area encompassing Torquay and Brixham - a beautiful unspoilt fishing harbour town, commonly known as the English Rivera. Oldway Mansion in the heart of Paignton was once the home of the Singer family, founders of the famous Sewing Machine. Agatha Christie was born and bred in Torquay, The Princess Theatre on the sea front often shows productions written by this legend.Three miles from Pheasants Hide is the lovely town of Totnes which has a fabulous market every Friday in the heart of the town - plenty of local produce, a lot of organic, very original foods and some marvellous interesting artefacts! During the summer months, Elizabethan dress is almost compulsory with the locals going about their everyday business on a Tuesday. The town is definitely worth a visit - plenty of great eating places and some great Tea rooms with irresistible home made cakes! The English Riviera boasts 22 miles of coastal paths and countless sandy beaches, the nearest is Goodrington Sands but Blackpool Sands is definitely worth a visit - you may have to pay to park in the car park but once it's full no one else is allowed onto this golden beach, therefore never crowded and just fabulous really clean facilities.During the months of June, July and August there are countless fetes, fairs, festivals, carnivals - literally something happening every week.

Paignton

Pheasants Hide is probably in one of the best locations for exploring South Devon. Few places in the world can genuinely offer you such a wide range of ways to spend your time. Relaxing on the beach, afternoons browsing through designer shops or visiting fascinating museums. If you have the energy, there is a vast selection of sporting activities to choose from, both on the water and off the water, plus hundreds of place to visit within easy reach and a diary packed with events and festivals. For those looking to spread their wings there are historic towns, expansive moors, picture-postcard villages and heritage-rich cities close by, just waiting to be discovered.Just a few places to visit:DartmoorPaignton ZooQuaywest Water ParkTorbay Golf CentreJunior Quad Bike CentreModel VillageKent's CavernTorquay MuseumTorre AbbeyCompton CastelSteam RailwayPrincess TheatrePaignton HarbourSharpham VineyardDartmoor Otter Sanctuary & Buckfast ButterfliesHedgehog HospitalBuckfast AbbeyEven the supermarket is only 1.5 miles away!

“Peace and quiet in a delightful location.”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2012

Beautiful accommodation in a delightful location - peace and quiet with glorious countyside all around but only a short car journey to the coast for cliff walks and the beach. Well styled, maintained and spotlessly clean cottage with views accross the valley and the fish ponds. The fresh flowers and muffins on arrival were a nice touch and Richard was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We will certainly book again - possibly for more than just a long weekend.

Sorry, forgot to thank you for your lovely review,it really is a nice place isn't it, have a great Christmas and hope to see you again soon Simon & Yvonne
