The English Riviera region

ENGLISH RIVIERA ATTRACTIONS
The English Riviera attracts visitors from around the world who are looking to experience a unique blend of stunning scenery, family entertainment and action-packed fun.

There are plenty of things to do in the English Riviera for families, groups and couples of all ages. Whether looking for outdoor pursuits, a touch of history or fun-filled attractions, days out on the English Riviera will create lifelong and treasured memories for all the family.

Get active
With over 22 miles of coastline, visitors can’t escape the wealth of coastal and maritime pursuits that are available to them. From boat trips, fishing and sailing to Torquay’s more exhilarating beachfront watersports, adventure-seekers will revel in the superb selection of activities on offer. Away from the water, there is still plenty to do with an array of walking routes, cycling paths and spectacular gardens showcasing the fauna and flora that the English Riviera is renowned for.

Places to Go
Not just a seaside resort, days out on the English Riviera can also be filled with trips to the many exciting and fun-packed attractions. Treat the kids to a day out at Paignton Zoo, home to thousands of animals and acres of activities or visit Splashdown@Quaywest for some wet and wild fun. For a more educational expedition there are various attractions to be found, including the Geo Park which displays historical findings including the earliest human remains or discover more about the world's most famous mystery and crime writer, Agatha Christie who grew up in Torquay.

Paignton

PAIGNTON ATTRACTIONS
Famed for its vibrant atmosphere, seafront merriments and glorious sandy beaches, Paignton is a lively seaside resort that has managed to retain its traditional charm and character.

The hub of this town is undoubtedly the bustling and colourful pier and its surrounding waterfront. Jam-packed with attractions for all the family including waterslides and crazy golf, Paignton provides a fun-filled feast for holidaymakers of all ages.

Life’s a beach
Days out in Paignton can be largely taken up around the beachfront, which is alive with entertainment, activities and traditional seaside fun. As well as the gloriously sandy shores and paddle-friendly waters, there’s also a multitude of watersports available with opportunities to learn to sail or dive or to charter a boat for the day. The seafront green also hosts many festivals, fairs and musical events throughout the year and as night falls the promenade restaurants and bars come to life under the soft light of the beachfront illuminations.

Away from the beach
Although renowned as a traditional seaside resort, away from the shores there are still plenty of things to do in Paignton. Take a trip on the steam railway and enjoy the spectacular coastal vistas, visit Paignton Zoo for a glimpse of thousands of animals and endangered species as well as the acres of activities, take in a performance at the Palace Theatre or discover one of the superb walking routes and cycle paths which stretch along the South West Coast Path.

“Lovely, clean holiday apartment right on the Pier and beach.”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2013

Lovely clean holiday apartment right on the Pier and beach. The apartment was well kitted out for all our holiday needs and the apartment manager was on call if we needed. The on site heated swimming pool was very clean and available at all times we wished to use it. The main town centre was less than a 5 min walk away. Having the exclusive use of a car parking space was of great benefit as free parking spaces are few and far between in this part of the world!
