The English Riviera region
Devon is Great Britain's third biggest county and has a wide range of landscapes. From the moors to the seaside sand dunes, from the buzzing cities to the sleepy coastal towns and villages, Devon can provide an all-round holiday experience.
The cities of Exeter and Plymouth both provide a delightful combination of rich heritage and modern excitement. All the coastal towns have lively harbours and local produce so you can have the real Devon experience.
Devon is also home to two national parks. Dartmoor in the south and Exmoor in the north both provide wonderful walks for the lovers of wildlife and the countryside.
So with two coastlines, two national parks, and two cities, there are how many reasons not to visit Devon? That's right, none!
Paignton is the perfect location for a family holiday on the English Riviera. It's friendly atmosphere and superb beaches make it the ideal location to relax while the kids are kept amused.
At the beaches you can hire boats and canoes as well as trying your hand at snorkeling, water skiing, surfing, scuba diving and many more activities.
Along the waterfront you are also spoiled for choice by the numerous cafe's, restaurants and there is an abundance of pubs and bars providing an excellent nightlife.
A big visitor attraction in Paignton is Paignton Zoo. Opened in 1923 it is now an education & scientific charity devoted to preserving wildlife from around the globe.

"Ideal holiday cottage"
A lovely clean and comfortable cottage in an ideal location - easy walking distance from beach and harbour in one direction and town centre, bus station and railway station in the other. Well equipped, comfy beds and no problem with finding a parking space in the street outside. It is convenient to have two showers and loos too! We found we didn't need to use the car much at all, because public transport is so good and that's just as well because the confusing one way system around the town makes it difficult to find your way around by car!

"Best Cottage ever"
This cottage had everything we needed, fully centrally heated, we went early in the year and the heating was needed. Very clean and tidy and extremely comfortable. The owner showed us around which was a lovely touch as other places we have stayed at they leave the key hidden and you are left to work things out on your own. We are both in our sixties and managed easily the ten minute walk to the beach and the shops. This cottage is ideally situated it is quiet at night and it is easy to get to places that you want to visit. If you come via car there are lots of other places to visit such as Teignmouth, Dartmouth, Cockington and many more besides. Or you could take the steam train to Dartmouth, again Paignton station is only a ten minute walk away. If you like walking I can recommend walking to the harbour and then walking up a steep road where you will come to a park and there is a zig zag walk down to Goodrington Sands, from there if you walk along the sea front when you come to the end of the path turn right and go under the railway bridge then directly left you will see a coastal path, walk up the hill and then you will see a bridge over the railway on your left hand side cross over this and go into the field there is a spectacular view from here and a little cove to explore. Of course you can walk much further along the coastal path. There is so much more I could tell you about the area to explore, sometimes though it is better to explore and find out for yourself as we have done over the past ten years in coming to Paignton. This was our first time we had stayed in this cottage and we have already booked to stay again next year.

"Brilliant little cottage, tidy and very near to the beach. Plenty of room for all five of us, loved it!"
The cottage is in walking distance to most of the attractions and very near to the beach. It was very tidy, modern and well kept. We were a party of 5 (3 teenagers) and there was plenty of room for us all. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We would highly recommend staying there and the coastal ferry trip from the bay was really great too.
We are naturally delighted that your visit to Jayasri was so enjoyable, the quality of the accommodation plus the great location make for a fantastic holiday at this apartment. We know the thoughtful owners will also be delighted and both they and we hope we can be of help again soon. Iain & Gill Butterworth - Holiday Homes & Cottages
