Gorgeous DOG-FRIENDLY self-catering cottage set in an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' on our own working farm. Stylish and comfortable. Right on the coast in wonderful North Cornwall with our local town the famous PADSTOW.
WALKERS! We are RIGHT ON the South West Coast Path. A walkers paradise! Head west for the breathtaking BEDRUTHAN STEPS, or east for the awe inspiring TREVOSE HEAD: the views are incredible.
GOLFERS! Did you know that we are only a mile from TREVOSE GOLF CLUB? It has 18 and 9 hole links courses. The views over Constantine and Booby's bays are jaw-dropping. What a beautiful place to play golf.
BEACH LOVERS! There are so many golden sandy beaches to choose from, and they are all DOG-FRIENDLY. Our local beach PORTHCOTHAN Bay is an 8 minute walk. It has a fabulous natural swimming pool at low-tide. Whether you love to swim, surf, go rock-pooling, build sandcastles or just breath in the ozone, this is the place to be.
BIRDWATCHERS! There is some great birdwatching to be had along the Camel trail. But did you know, we have the rare Corn Bunting on our land? Lucky us!
CYCLISTS! Have you heard about the CAMEL TRAIL? It runs all the way from Padstow to Bodmin Moor via Wadebridge. Easy bike hire at the trail. Absolutely astounding scenery: the stretch that runs alongside the estuary faces the golden sands of Rock. The inland stretch is so tranquil with water courses a plenty. Why not drop in at Camel Valley Vineyard en route for a wine tasting.
GASTRONOMERS! You are about to enter foodie heaven. Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant is in Padstow, as is Paul Ainsworth's (trained by Gordon Ramsay) No 6. Across the Camel estuary in Rock (a lovely water taxi ride away!) is Nathan Outlaw with his 2 Michelin stars. Or just down the coast at Watergate Bay is Jamie Oliver's 15. Treat yourself to some seriously good wining and dining! And talking of wine - don't miss the WINE TASTING at Camel Valley Vineyard - the bubbley is out of this world!
DOGS! We love you and you are warmly welcomed. You can walk wherever you wish on our land, you'll love the coast path and the beach, and the views are incredible. There is a nice big garden for you to enjoy too - all enclosed. Hopefully you have trained your owners to 'scoop the poop', and keep you on a lead when our silly sheep are near. We trust you don't mind staying downstairs and off the furniture. Some funny people don't love dogs as much as we do, and some are allergic you see.
LITTLE PEOPLE! We have 3 of our own, and remember well the challenges of travelling with 3 under five year olds...Tell Mummy not to worry. We have cots/ highchairs/ changemats/ bathseats all free of charge. We also have a nice big garden that is fully enclosed. We are on a road but it is a quiet single lane country road with a 30mph limit.
Crigg is a quirky and quaint gem of a place. It is a semi-detached farmworkers cottage, now tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. Pretty fabrics and soft colours will all add to your relaxation.
Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms (1small) and a spacious twin room. The beds are super comfy - some of our former visitors have gone home and ordered the same bed! There is a family bathroom, with double-ended bath and handheld shower over it. Ceilings are open-pitched, high and beamed giving an airy tranquil feel.
Downstairs is a cosy sitting room with squashy surround sofa, and a lovely wood burner for special nights in. There is a wet room with shower, perfect for coming straight in off the beach. A utility room with washer and dryer. A fitted oak dining room in the style of a pub snug, leading into a super kitchen with beautiful granite work tops. Usual mod cons such as microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen open out into the garden.
The garden is large, stone-hedged, and gated - perfect for dogs and children. There is a BBQ and outside seating on the large patio, as well as a big expanse of grass. When there are waves, you can hear the ocean.
We are close to local amenities with a pub at the end of the road, a proper village a 5 min drive away (pubs, restaurants, garage, bakers, newsagent, P.O., hairdressers, surf shop and hire, Spar, Chinese takeaway, Fish 'n' chip shop), and our local town of Padstow 5 miles away with supermarket. If you want to do your SUPERMARKET SHOP online, Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda all deliver to PL28 8PN. Minimum hassle...maximum relaxation for your holiday!
In the high season the small campsite run by our family has a bar which serves food, a shop, and a play park which you are welcome to use. There is fun family entertainment most nights in the summer school holidays too.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! As well as being in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, never mind Cornwall, we are lucky enough to have NEWQUAY AIRPORT 10 minutes away. Leave the car at home and immerse yourself in tranquility! We are on the Newquay - Padstow Western Greyhound bus route too, so you can go exploring this beautiful county, while someone else does the driving.

The cottage is semi-detached. My lovely in-laws live next door - a real 'old school' Cornish farmer and his wife. 'Grampy' can easily be persuaded to let little budding farmers have a sit in his tractor.
The garden is entirely yours, as Grampy and Granny have their own around the side.
We are on a road, but it is a quiet country lane with a 30mph speed restriction. There is plenty of off road parking.
There is a campsite opposite. It is run by our family, and only accepts families and couples. No rowdy groups allowed. We have not had any issues with noise so far.
We hope you love Crigg Cottage - we do!
The Cornwall region
Cornwall is a fantastic county. There are fabulous beaches, and beautiful country side in plentiful supply. There are also many well known attractions, all of which can be reached within an hour and a half from Crigg Cottage, so it it a great base for exploring.
It boasts wonderful gardens including the Eden Project, the lost gardens of Heligan, and many national trust gardens like Glendurgan or Trebah.
Excellent National Trust properties such as Trerice, Lanhydrock, Pencarrow, and Cotehele.
Ancient castles like St Mawes, Restormel, or Tintagel Castle: also home to King Arthur's Great Halls.
There are some fantastic day trips to be had - see the tallships at Charlestown, explore seafaring history at the Maritime museum in Falmouth, or visit Port Issac home to the Fisherman's Friends, and of Doc Martyn fame. You might want to go fishing - there are many day boats that go out from Padstow and other harbours.
There are plenty of attractions especially geared towards families and children too: Newquay Waterworld/ Zoo/ and Aquarium, Flambards, Crealy adventure park, Lappa valley railway.
Or perhaps you have always wanted to soak up the atmosphere of Land's End, or visit Cornwall's most easterly point on the Lizard? St Michaels Mount is another wonder of this wonderful county.
Art lovers will adore St Ives, which boasts the Tate Gallery. Theatre goers will be blown away by the incredible Minack theatre carved into the cliffs at Porthcurno. There really is something for everyone.
The surrounding area is simply fantastic, with so much to do.
There is wonderful walking on your doorstep, plus surfing/fishing/horse riding and golf.
The beaches are amongst the best in the world. Boat trips, fishing trips, sailing and water ski-ing available from Padstow or across the Camel Estuary in Rock.
Brilliant cycling along the Camel trail which starts in Padstow, and continues on to Wadebridge and Bodmin.
Excellent gastronomy: Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth, Nathan Outlaw, and Jamie Oliver all have restaurants in the vicinity.
Stunning walks along the coastal path at the end of our garden - to Bedruthan steps to the south, or Trevose Head to the north.
Newquay airport only 10 minutes away. We will pick you up free of charge - you can leave the car at home!
And finally, we must not forget our 4 legged friends! This area is renowned for being dog-friendly, with no bans on our local beaches. No need to leave a much loved part of your family at home or in kennels. Hurray!

"Nice place to stay"
The cottage is a typical cornish cottage, and very lovely. The kittchen is huge and well equiped. The sleeping rooms are nice and comfy furnished. The two bathroomes have been perfect for us with 3 childeren. In the kittchen was a little welcome for us when we arrived. The owner, the Brewers, are very nice and uncomlicated people. Wi-fi is available but you will not have internet reception in the cottage. If you stand outside, in front of the house, there will be....maybe ;0) We had the "luck" that it was very windy for two days, and the windows in the livingroom were leaky. So it was a little cold and uncomfy this time. My husband is very large, 2metres, and he had little problems with the room height. But these two things were the only "negatives" we found. We had a fantastic week in a great place. The beach(es) are nearby and lovely. My son enjoyed the time we spend there a lot. The surrounding is breathtaking. It is defenetly a blessed place!
