Description

This property is centrally located in Old Town Padstow. Originally, this was the Old Police House and has the tallest door in Padstow to accommodate the police hats worn in those days!

The building comprises of two apartments and are suited only to couples and young families, due to the quiet position in the town.

Each apartment has the fantastic advantage of adjoining parking for one reasonably - sized vehicle. Vans and large MPV's would probably not fit, but we can offer a discount towards parking costs if this is the case. Pets (max two dogs) are welcome.

This page covers the 2 bed upstairs Apartment 1.

Although not 5 star Padstow accommodation, this 2 bedroomed - Apartment 1 is comfortable, has character and is very well located. A lot of improvements have been made recently, including double glazing, a completely refurbished bathroom, a hung slate wall, new carpets throughout and a lot of interior furniture has been replaced. Free wifi throughout, too, now. The owner would currently rate the apartment as 3.5 star.

Initial access is through a large communal hallway. From the hallway each apartment has its own private access.

Apartment 1 is located up a short flight of stairs. There are two good sized bedrooms, one with a Double Bed and one Twin Room. The Lounge/Diner has two twin sofas, a Flat Screen TV and DVD Player. Small Dining table, but comfortably seats four adults.

The Galley Kitchen has a two ringed induction hob, an electric oven with grill and a microwave oven. The standard sized fridge is located within the property but just outside of the kitchen. Although small and compact, this galley kitchen does have sufficient storage and is fully equipped. Please do note: There is no dishwasher, washing machine or freezer within the property, although there is a nearby launderette in Wadebridge.

The new luxury family bathroom has a bath with a modern electric shower over. There is a heated towel rail, mirror with LED lighting/shaver point and a wall fan heater if chilly.

There are Night Storage Heaters in both bedrooms and also in the lounge. Extra Electric Heaters are available in the property if required. All bedding and towels are supplied, but please bring beach towels with you. A teatowel will be in the kitchen for you.

There is a Wi Fi router in the hallway for both apartments to share.

Short breaks available at the owners discretion, but minimum stay is 3 nights, please.

The house is in a quiet road, but central, so there will be some passing traffic and pedestrians.A local cleaner can visit during a two week let for a charge of £25.

Location description from owner

The England region

Padstow is in the centre of the North Cornwall Coast and is a good base for visiting Newquay, Wadebridge, the Eden Project and Truro. The coast here can be wild and surfing is very popular. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the light changes seemingly every day - inspiring many artists to settle in this region. Visitors return each year to enjoy the scenery and heritage of Cornwall.

Padstow

Padstow is a beautiful and historic harbour town, which still supports local fishing and has all the watersports you could need within easy access.
The restaurants and pubs in the area have something for everyone and the Camel Trail is fantastic for an easy days' cycling. The nearest beaches are within a 10 minute walk, and Rock can be visited via a regular ferry service.
Excellent golf courses are within easy reach by car, as are all the bays in the St Merryn area.

“Lovely holiday let in the centre of Padstow”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2017

We had previously stayed in the flat downstairs, so knew pretty much what to expect. The location is perfect, in the heart of the old village, 2 minutes walk from the harbour. There are lovely walks up past Prideaux Place and out to Harbour Cove. Our dog was shattered, but happy every day, she loved the beaches. A good selection of pubs and the let has parking on site a rarity, although if you have a big or long vehicle or are not confident manoeuvring in a tight area beware. The accommodation is constrained by the old building, a lovely bathroom , good sized living room and bedrooms are all big plusses. The kitchen is tight and so much so the only time you have to move your feet is to go to the fridge which is at the top of the stairs. The decor throughout is really well done. The owner Sally has a good eye and I could have happily chiseled the bathroom tiles off and taken them home. Our second visit to the Old Police house and we will undoubtedly return, already feeling like a home from home.

Owner's reply: Thanks very much, Aidan, for your repeat booking and the lovely compliments. The bathroom downstairs has now been redone in a similar style, too! In my dreams one day I will take the apartment into the loft and get a bigger kitchen - but we have a long way to go yet!! Sally x

“Perfect Holiday stay.”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2017

We had such a wonderful time in apartment 1. It is incredibly well furnished and has every kitchen item you will ever need. The flat is very clean, with a lovely new shower room and nice fluffy towels. We felt so relaxed. Everything we needed was within a short stroll. I even found a yoga class at the wonderful shop on the harbour called Jam Industries. Out side there was a passer by who told us they had tried to book Apartment 1 again this year but were really sad not to be able to...so we felt even luckier to have been able to rent it.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for such an enthusiastic review, which is very much appreciated. I will check out that yoga class - thanks for the tip! Hope you will stay with us again one day. Sally x ,
