The property is set in superb walking country, with beautiful dales, river walks and villages all around. This includes the famous Eyam plague village, and lively Matlock. There are several great houses to visit within 15 minutes, particularly the superb Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
Mount Pleasant is near Bakewell, which has numerous cafes, character shops and eateries, approximately 5 minutes away by car, or 45 minutes on foot.
There is riding available nearby, and a local pub on the doorstep which is not to be missed. In the immediate area there is a delightful 45-minute walk, starting from your front doorstep, taking you through Over Haddon and along the river with beautiful blue water and a wide variety of local wildlife. The route returns you to the cottage on a footpath which takes you right past the front door of the pub.

Had a wonderful 5 days at Mount Pleasant. Cottage is better equipped than my own home, has amazing views and fantastic walks.

"Fantastic time was had by all !!"
We stayed at Mount Pleasant over the New Year period with our 8 year old daughter and another adult couple. The house is very compact but was very well stocked and furnished and is in just about the most perfect spot. The views are fabulous, the walks so interesting and never ending and the local pub extremely welcoming and friendly with a large roaring fire. Bakewell is only 5 minutes away so supplies are plentiful. Just one complaint from our daughter was the size of the tiny tv in the living room however the 2 dogs that were with us slept for almost a week when we got home ! All in all we had a fabulous stay and would definitely revisit.

"Perfect holiday - exactly what we were looking for, and more!"
We arrived late in the evening to find a beautiful old cottage in the peaceful village of Over Haddon. Upon walking through the front door the cottage was beyond expactations... refurbished to an extraordinarily high standard - very unusual in that it is on 3 floors all with a unique style to them. Oh and we were welcomed with wine and chocolates on the kitchen counter! Upstairs is the Master Bedroom with a HUGE Kingsize bed... overlooking the Derbyshire Dales for miles and miles. Lovely ensuite with vintage bath. Ground floor is the second bedroom for the children (not that we had any!) to sleep 3... again overlooking the countryside. And the highlight for us was walking downstairs... which you intially think is 'underground; but because of the way the cottage is set into the hillside, it actually overlooks the countryside with a onservatory and a garden also! Beautifully cosy living room, log burning fire, another bathroom with shower, smart kitchen area with a separate room for the laundry / utilities to ensure it's as peaceful as peaceful can be! The conservatory has a dining table for 8 looking out over the garden and countryside, which also has a BBQ.... Then there is the local area! Walk out of the front door and you're straight into the beautiful walks of Over Haddon, walking along the riverside, through the dales. The local pub offers fantastic food at the end of a walk although check what time they finish serving to ensure you don't miss out! All in all, a superb holiday - couldn't have asked for anything more and we have already booked to go back later this year!

Went to Mount Pleasant for our Silver Wedding and it was really relaxing, comfortable, home from home. Karen the owner left a bottle of bubbly and a box of chocolates! The views are to die for....the pub/restaurant is a stone's throw away.

"Stress busting long weekend, with ideal location!"
We were lucky enough to stay at Mount Pleasant through a contact at Church. I have never stayed in the peak district before, and by the end of the trip ran out of superlatives to describe not only the natural beauty of Over Haddon and the surrounding areas, but the comprehensive accommodation provided at the cottage. The bedrooms are well appointed and both have outstanding views over the dales, we loved to sit have a glass of wine and watch the mist roll over the hills enveloping everything in its path, with a log fire on the go and selection of cheeses...What more could you want. Plenty of walks, places to eat. Relaxation with a cool looking bath and candles. This is an ideal base for exploration of the peak district, or just for a getaway from the rat race. Highly recommended!

"Views to die for"
Delightful property in beautiful situation overlooking the Lathkil Dale. Pleasant village only 2.5miles from Bakewell; cottage well equipped and comfortable; only 75 yards from excellent pub/restaurant. A veritable home from home in a quiet situation. Have revisited this cottage for more years than can be remembered; it never disappoints. Ideal central location for walkers and sightseers throughout the fantastic Peak District. Owners unfailingly friendly and helpful..
