Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Hisaronu/Ovacik has blue skies and sunshine from spring until early autumn. Average Hisaronu/Ovacik temperatures remain in the mid 20 to 30c and more throughout the beach season. Mid summer can be very hot (40c and above) so don't forget your sunhat and suncream! Easter breaks will enjoy plenty of early season warmth and the weather in Hisaronu in May is ideal for walkers and nature lovers. Hisaronu weather in October is as sunny as the weather in spring although evenings start to feel cool but daytime temperatures are very warm compared to the UK. You can sunbath on the beaches well into the autumn.

The British love this area and return year after year as everything is easily accessible and the Turkish hospitality is second to none. This area is famous for its agriculture and the food you order or buy will be both fresh and delicious. Walkers can explore the local area which offers a ruggedly beautiful landscape. They will discover a coast filled with secluded bays which are accessed through winding forest paths. There is also a golf course about a 30 minutes drive away.

Not to be missed is the beautiful blue lagoon at Olu Deniz with its safe shallow clear waters. However you do have to pay entrance to this beach as it is privately owned. If you take the right fork of the road (opposite where the pay booth is) you can follow the road up and there are many beaches along this road with free entrance. Nicholas Beach is the best one we found and they also offer a free shuttle service and will pick you up from our apartment and take you back. Nicholas beach has hot showers and is the most reasonably priced for sun beds. They also have a cafe with free waiter service to your sunbed on the beach!

There is a daily ferry from Fethiye to Rhodes.

Near to our apartment are local shops where you can buy food, water and everyday essentials. There are also restaurants close by where you can enjoy a lovely peaceful meal which is very reasonably priced. Sea Shells serves delicious food and gives a very generous glass of wine!

This area has grown over the last ten years and Hisaronu in particular is great for nightlife and has numerous restaurants and bars. Many shops offer free alterations for clothes you buy from them. There are 2 or 3 large supermarkets and lots of smaller shops, car hire, tailor, horse riding or unwind with a massage and Turkish bath or treat yourself - gentlemen to a very close Turkish shave and ladies can enjoy a beauty treatmentt in one of the many hairdressers/beauty salons. There are also chemists, taxis, numerous shops, jewellers (the gold is exceptional) cafes, bars, and an open market once a week. Tour operators offer reasonably priced excursions.

Don't forget to haggle everywhere you go!

There is an Aqua Park which is 10 minutes away from Orka Gardens which is surrounded by stunning mountain/forest scenery. Don't forget to visit the beautifully stunning National Park, ideal for families and also walkers.

From the main road in Ovacik you can catch a dolmus to either Fethiye or Oludeniz beach which run frequently throughout the day up to about midnight, after this time you will need a taxi.

Oludeniz is smaller and quieter than Hisaronu and slightly more expensive to eat out as you are right on the seafront. There are ample seafront cafes and bars, plus tour operators where they offer reasonably priced excursions.

Daily boat trips and also a wonderful sunset cruise are available from the beach at Olu Deniz. Boat tours will take you around the beautiful bay of Fethiye where they will visit secluded bays.

The best way to see more of the area is to hire a car or go on a Jeep safari where you will have a full and long day out. The jeep stops regularly throughout the day to visit many locations. Normally included in this trip is a visit to a trout farm, the rock tombs, turtle beach and mud baths but please check tour operator for more details.

About 20 minutes by dolmus, is the harbour town of Fethiye. It has a modern shopping area with quality goods and an old town area with narrow lanes and Turkish shops & restaurants. Not to be missed is the weekly large market containing an amazing display of fruit and vegetables, as well as leather goods, trinkets, shoes, clothing, and sweets etc. Buy your Turkish delight fresh as it is soft and you can choose from the many flavour available. The sellers will also allow you to taste the numerous flavours.

The harbour area around Fethiye has been filmed for the new James Bond movie.

Dalyan is a lovely day out. The boat takes the route of the famous film 'African Queen'. On arrival at the town of Dalyan you will be transferred to a river boat and will cruise to the sulphur pools and warm mud baths.

Local currency is the Turkish Lira but the Turkish also accept sterling (they get a better deal that way!). ATMs are available and bank cards are accepted in most places.

Returned from another fantastic 14 days in Ovacik. It was our 2nd visit to this location and these apartments but first to E2. It's ground floor access to the pool was a decision maker for us after having an upstairs access apt last year. All mod cons and love having a washing machine as we can travel light. Powercut on arrival was swiftly resolved much to our relief as we were in need of the aircon. The pool is a great size for our kids (12 and 9). The hill is a challenge but we don't walk up just down and take a taxi back up (12 lire). Azda is down in the main drag to Hisaronu and has everything you'll need to self cater, although get fresh fruit and veg next door and bread just up on the other side. We are out lots...favs are Suzannes, Pine Hill, Reef and Barracuda in Hisaronu. Yengec in Ovacik fab but book ahead and Oulodeniz is a taxi ride away with loads of eateries ...Hang Out and Buzz need a mention. Shame we had to come home x

Thank you taking the time to leave a excellent review of E2. We try our very best to make sure that our guests are looked after. We hope you may return to us next year. Kind regards Mark and Carolyn

“Fantastic place, totally beautiful and I can't wait to go back.”

This is our second visit to Orka Gardens and we specifically booked this apartment (E2) after the wonderful service the owners gave us last time. We like going to Turkey at the beginning and end of the seasons because the resort is quieter, you get to chat more to the locals who aren’t quite so busy and the weather is still really good without being drainingly hot. The other advantage is that the beaches often offer freebies such as free sunbeds until the beginning of the season (around 1st May) but you still get all the facilities, shops and food stores available so it’s just a bonus really. Although we love travelling and like to get to try the food and know the culture as much as we can, the owners recommended a great restaurant for those days when nothing but a Full English will do. Turtle Restaurant on the Upper Ovacik Road (this is the first road down from the apartment, turn right and it’s about 5 minutes walk) does a full English breakfast, with proper English sausage and bacon for only 5 lira. They also make fresh to order fish and chips with mushy peas for 9 lira which, you have to admit, is a bargain. The owners encouraged us to steer away from the bright light type restaurants on the main road for one or two nights and try exploring the back streets where there are little diamonds in the rough selling good quality meals for 9-15 lira each. Since we were last at the apartment they’ve had the patio extended, which is great. We loved sitting out in the evenings drinking wine and listening to the crickets . We could really stretch out and I think a larger family group of up to six would be VERY comfortable with all the open space the patio, garden and kitchen area allows. We HIGHLY recommend this apartment. It has beautiful views all around, the pool is amazing with views of the mountains, the owners are extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area and really help you to make the most of your holiday.

Thank you for taking the time of leave a review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at E2 Orka Garden. We hope that you will return to us in the future. Kind regards Carolyn and Mark

We arrived late at night, picked the keys up from Orka and was then escorted to the appt.On inspecting the appt the following morning we were not happy.the appt is brand new,the following things were not in place No crockery so we could not have a drink,no coat hangers;no tea towels, some curtains missing in bedrooms making it very bright in the mornings no safe installed it was just left on the television or dvd player installed, no cleaning utensills ie mop brush dust pan etc.the front and rear garden area are new no grass just some plants and mud, every night they would water these areas but it would mean that you walked dirt into the appt most times, there was also no water pressure in the showers.with all these faults i went to orka to tell them,we spent the next 2 days in the appt , whilst various people came and went to fix things.Six days later the downstairs toilet flooded which resulted in the kitchen area full of water and human waste, this was the last straw,we moved out, orka put us up for one night, and then they found us somewhere else to stay.Luckily for us we hired a car,the appt is a very very long way out from the nearest main road no way would i like to walk into town and back,i was told on my return to the uk that if you rang orka they would come and collect you but there was no phone to do this, we were given compensation from orka which was a meal for 4 at the hotels turkish night value £12 each we stayed for one hour then left.In my view the appt was far from ready to be let, the owners should have been there a week before us to insure that it was ready, not leave to there guests to waste 2 days of their holiday sorting out problems, a holiday was ruined,my advise if you do decide to stay there hire a car.the plus point is the swimming pool, massive would i go there again DEFINITELY NO

This was our very first guests and we are grateful for any feedback and hope that things will improve as indeed this was a brand new property as these guests were well aware of. The guest rang me to inform me of the list of things wrong and I immediately telephoned Turkey to try and help. I was informed by Orka that the guests wanted to move even if things were put right. The missing items and problems were addressed promptly and Orka commented to us that the problems were minor and exaggerated by the guest. However, Orka compensated the guest with a free meal for the family including all drinks for the evening as the whole team were trying to make these guests happy. The guest dissappointed us after the first week by ringing us to state that the garden had been dug up, the WC was blocked and everything was ruined downstairs. (We were later told by Orka there was no damage to the apartment. The guests went on to mention there was a funny smell all week in the downstairs WC, but this was the first we'd heard about this apparent problem (after a whole week), despite numerous phone calls, texts and emails to and from us and the guests about the other things they were not happy about. We asked a friend of ours who lives in one of the apartments at Orka Gardens to check to see if the garden had been dug up and it had not been! We were informed by Orka that the guest had put lots of paper down the toilet which is not allowed in Turkey. (We aim on our next visit to put notices up so this does not happen again). This guest then insisted on being moved as his pregnant daughter was arriving and he was worried about germs. Orka agreed to move the guests free of charge as always helpful and hoping to keep the peace but the guest informed us that the apartment he was moved to 'was worse than ours' Furthermore the arrival of the daughter was a complete surprise to us as this guest only put himself and his wife down on the contract (the contract clearly asks for names and numbers) and although we don't mind other people coming along it would have been nice to have been informed, but as a gesture of goodwill for the incovenience we still refunded him the £100 security deposit, which we had every right to refuse. We understand that our next guests were extremely happy and have sent a very positive review. Furthermore this complaining guest also rang us and stated that he had spoken to the owner of the apartment in Orka Gardens they were moved to who was apparently fuming as he knew the apartment was not ready. We tried to contact the owner of such apartment but it was impossible to find a contact number. We later checked with Orka who phoned the owner and he denied such a conversation had taken place. The guest continually asked for compensation in the form of money from us and we believe it was for that reason only that they exaggerated the problems. We did not offer compensation as advised by Orka as they had already been compensated by them. We understand that this guest also wants to return next year and rent a villa so it is our view that they must have enjoyed their holiday or they would not want to return at all.
