Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Turquoise Coast comprising beautiful beaches and rugged and lush scenery enjoys hot and sunny weather throughout its long summer. The villa nestles at the foot of the Babadag Mountains and benefits from a warm and welcome breeze at the height of summer - much needed as summer temperatures average 30 - 40 c with a winter average of 15 c.

The nearest beach is in Olu Deniz, one of Turkeys’ most famous and most photographed beaches. At the far end of the beach you will find the Blue Lagoon set inside a national park area. It is sheltered with still, warm waters perfect for safe swimming and paddling for any age group. You can get free use and transport to and from the private beach in the lagoon, (owned by the Orka hotel) which offers a cafe/bar and mix of sun and shade with sunbeds and umbrellas.

Fethiye is a large and lively harbour town with a lovely marina and promenade. Every Tuesday there is a huge traditional Turkish market which is the largest of its kind in the area – a must for locals and tourists alike with its heady mix of exotic spices, teas, fruits, vegetables and of course Turkish delight. Traders come from far and wide to sell goods ranging from designer handbags and jeans to jewellery. Try your hand at haggling and grab a bargain.

Visit the ghost town of Kayokoy village once home to 3500 Greek residents who were deported in 1923. It is fascinating to see its empty streets and roofless houses. There are also numerous restaurants offering BBQ and a swim in their pool if you fancy a welcome break.

There are many trips and excursions available with a full day boat trip around the islands where you can swim in secluded coves and spot turtles and dolphins, for as little as £12 per person (including lunch!). Other trips include:
- jeep safari ride;
- water rafting and kayaking;
- microlite flight;
- Butterfly Valley;
- tandem paragliding from Babadag mountain;
- Hisoranu Aqua park;
- horse riding;
- trip along Dalyan river (home to the Loggerhead turtles) and to the rejuvenating mud baths and spa;
- Sakilikent Gorge some 18km long and the the second largest in Europe;
- the ancient city of Ephesus and the calcium mountains and warm spas of Pamukale;
- The Yakapark trout farm with fascinating water features and tree top dining;
- A 90 min hydrofoil will take you across to the island of Rhodes.

In essence, the area has an enormous range of excursions and activities. You can be sure to find something to suit every taste!

Ovacik

Hisaronu is a lively town with friendly locals dedicated to ensuring tourist satisfaction. Sitting in the hills above the Blue Lagoon it is close to both Fethiye and Oludeniz with their glorious beaches.

The rugged landscape around Hisaronu is ideal for those who enjoy hiking. The hills are wooded offering shade and the temperatures are cooler than at sea level. Alternatively the hills can be explored on horseback or on mountain bikes.

This vibrant town is full of gift shops, bars, cafes and restaurants which cater for every taste. At night it is particularly lively when holidaymakers from nearby resorts come to join in the fun. Eating out and entertainment is great value and hair cut, shave or mani/pedicure much cheaper than at home, so it is worth treating yourself.

Smaller than Fethiye, Hisoranu has an excellent market every Monday where you can buy low cost designer style bags, clothes, jewellery and local souvenirs.

Our favourite restaurants include Castellos for international cuisine or Festival for traditional Turkish fayre. For a speacial evening - try The Sundial in Fethiye where you can dine whilst watching the sunset over the sea. Details of these and many more can be found in the welcome guide in our villa.

A Hisaronu holiday offers far more than just lazing on a hot beach. There are sufficient different activities to more than fill your days.

“A wonderful villa in a spectacular location”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2016

This was our second year staying at No 1. We love it! The villa is in a wonderful location, and in an area where there is something for everyone. Many places to eat are within a few minutes walk away, and fabulous beaches and places on interest just a short taxi ride away. We don't hire a car but get around very inexpensively by taxi. Eating out is so reasonable, and the food is amazing. The villa is serviced regularly with clean sheets and towels. It has air-conditioning in each room. We love sitting out having lunch and watching the paragliders above Babadag mountain. Truly stunning! We highly recommend this wonderful villa.

“Gorgeous villa in a stunning location”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

We stayed at this villa for 10 nights and wish we had booked for longer! We had an absolutely fantastic holiday and would whole-heatedly recommend this villa. If you are looking for the most perfect, sun-drenched, chill-out location then this is the villa for you! You really have 'the best of both worlds' with this villa - stunning location set in the backdrop of the Babadag mountains; truly breathtaking! Just out of the way enough for peace and quiet but only a short (15 minutes) walk or cheap taxi ride (£4 approx / 10TL) to the town of Hisaronu. The standard of accommodation was excellent; very clean, modern and well maintained; all things considered, home from home! The pool area was lovely; well maintained and very clean. We were pleasantly surprised how quiet the pool area was during our stay (on more than one occasion we had the pool to ourselves); no hassle at all with sunbeds/parasols. The surrounding garden areas were also well maintained; we saw gardeners/cleaners each day. We felt perfectly happy allowing our children to play in the pool unsupervised (but of course they are all competent swimmers!). Our transfers to and from the villa were each smooth-running; our mini-bus was waiting for us upon arrival and arrived promptly to collect us on our last day. The facilities at the Orka Hotel are excellent; the staff were all friendly and helpful. The Owner of the villa was incredibly helpful, providing plenty of useful advice and information; nothing was too much trouble and any pre-holiday questions were answered promptly. We would highly recommend this villa and would certainly stay again if Turkey is our chosen holiday destination in 2013.
