“A Hidden Gem”

The perfect getaway if you want to really get back to the country. We spent a peaceful, relaxed week and a half in Julie and Glynn's log cabin. Set in beautiful surroundings it was the perfect place to unwind and forget about work. Although it was an ideal setting for exam revision. Julie and Glynn are exceptional hosts. Ps - I passed the exam this morning!

“spoilt by our hosts in an unspoiled natural landscape”

The farm is situated in a beautiful unspoilt valley. The log cabin is perched on top of a hill and from the deck you can sit back and enjoy the surroundings. From sunrise to sunset the shadows and colours change constantly. Or you can join in, Glynn and Julie welcome traveling farm helpers as well as holiday makers. The children adjusted very quickly to the temperature and tempo of life and entertained themselves building huts and checking in on the animals and spotting gecko's and salamanders. The weather governs what can be done; some mornings start overcast and cool - a good time to go food shopping or go for a walk, the sun burns off the cloud cover and its then time to seek shade, swim in the pool, or read a book. A welcome warm breeze blows in late afternoon and depending on what everyone is doing BBQ together by the pool or walk into the village for a drink or meal. Eating out is affordable and therefore very enjoyable - not a luxury as it is at home. We ate out regularly and appreciated eating genuine local produce and the local hospitality. Olives, wine, bread, vegetables are all served in generous portions and as said in the other reviews and in tour books, the Portugeuse make children feel very welcome which meant we could relax. Glynn and Julie also have an apartment to rent on the south coast. If its available why not book that for 1 week and have a week on the farm! Glynn and Julie are very flexible and generous and open to ideas and when the sun gets too fierce also enjoy time out and to hang out.

“Peaceful with beautiful views :-)”

We arrived pretty late at night and were greeted at the airport by our hosts, Glynn and Julie. As we hadn't hired a car we relied upon Julie and Glynn to carry us about in their car which worked out wonderful for us. Upon arrival at the cabin we had fresh groceries already there that we had requested via email. As we arrived quite late at night we couldn't see anything but oh my after waking the next morning and opening those curtains, what a view! 360 degrees of unspoilt landscape. The village is a 15 minute walk away along dirt tracks that contains two cafe's/bars which you can get a meal for around 25 to 30 Euros for a family of four with drinks, with all other shops a 15 minute drive away. We arranged day trips with Julie and Glynn to the zoo, beaches and local markets and all had a wonderful time. The variety of animals on offer at their farm were wonderful for our children to interactive with, we even tried our hands at sheep herding-how fun! Overall we had a great experience being at one with nature and being away from all the hustle and bustle of the city life. I cannot recommend this accommodation or hosts enough and we are looking forwards to going back soon

After visiting this couples apartment recently i was invited to stay at the log cabin on their farm.... |t was a truly lovely place to stay, glynn and julie are obviously very proud of the area in which they live. they were perfect hosts. The views from the log cabins were fantastic and being able to get involved on the farm made this a truly magnificent trip.

“Relaxed Time”

Reviewed 8 May 2012

Never done a rural holiday before but needed a relaxed a way from it all break. For Febuary the weather was exceptional with very warm sunny days but the nights were freezing cold!! Thank goodness for the log burning stove and the free supply of logs which made for cosy relaxed evenings. Our hosts Glynn and Julie ensured that we had everything we needed to keep warm, including cosy duvets. They were very attentive and thoughtful throughout our stay. They even had a cooked meal waiting for us on our arrival which was very welcome. They have a lovely large swimming pool which we did not sample this time but rest assured we will be back and we will go in that lovely pool. It was enlightening to meet such a friendly and fun loving couple and the locals are`nt either!!

“Friendly,relaxing stay,beautiful pool”

This was a very relaxing holiday ,Glynn and Julie were wonderful hosts ,the salad and eggs from the farm were delicious. The children loved the collection of animals and the trip out to woodland in the jeep with Glynn .The pool was cool and welcoming as the weather was scorching. The food at the Texas Bar was fantastic quality and value for money so would definately recommend.A car is a must to take in all the local sites and days out to the beautiful beaches. The accomodation is basic but comfortable and the views are fantastic ,all in all good value for money with the most welcoming and helpful hosts.
