The house situated on 6 acres of wild grass and bogland on the shores of Lough Corrib which is famous for its salmon and brown trout fishing. The house has its own private path to the lake and is not overlooked. There is seating at the lake shore where you can relax by the water and enjoy the scenery and peace and quite. You will see swans, ducks and other wildlife that live around Bog Bay. The shore has natural limestone flagstones which contain interesting patterns and fossils. The house's large windows offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside and Lough Corrib. There is a south facing patio with wooden table and chairs. There are many quiet walks that can be taken on the local bog roads, yet the house is situated only 1km from the local village of Oughterard.

The Western Ireland region

Galway and Clare are situated on the west coast of Ireland along the Atlantic Ocean. The area is famous for its unspoilt scenery including mountains, rivers, lakes, beaches and Atlantic seascapes. The Connemara area of West Galway is particularly scenic with its changing colours throughout the year.

Oughterard

Oughterard is a village on Lough Corrib and is an ideal base to tour Connemara, Galway County and Galway City, Mayo and the Burren in County Clare. Lough Corrib is famous for its brown trout and salmon fishing and Oughterard is the main angling centre on the lake. Lough Corrib is 50 km long by 15 km wide at its widest point, and is the second largest lake in Ireland. The angling season open on Lough Corrib in mid-February and finishes in late-September and is at its busiest in May during the Mayfly season. Boats and boatmen can be hired locally. Golf and horse riding are also available locally. Other points of interest locally are the nearby 14th centuary Aughnanure Castle and 19th centuary Glangola Lead and Silver Mines, which are both open to the public.
