Close to the village centre in a quiet courtyard with views towards Osseja forest, the property is part of a converted barn which has been carefully restored. With views from the kitchen and balcony over the picturesque courtyard and in the distance to the magnificent Sierra de Cadi mountain range in Spain, the property is in a very scenic area which offers wonderful walking, cycling, skiing, canyoning, golf 18 holes near nearby Puigcerda, horse-riding, fishing, rafting, hydrospeed, kayaking, ballooning, paragliding, adventure parks, mountain lakes, heated outdoor swimming, thermal spas, ancient villages and well-preserved 12th century Romanesque churches.
Barcelona, Montserrat, Andorra and the Mediterranean coast are all easily accessible in one day by car and a scenic little yellow train wends its way across the Cerdagne plateau and down the Tet valley with spectacular views and viaducts. The area has many superb and mostly inexpensive restaurants serving tasty and healthy mountain fare and excellent local Catalan wines.
The apartment, which sleeps up to seven, is spacious and very well-equipped with a brand new kitchen, a living room with a sofa-bed, a sunny, west-facing balcony, one double bedroom, one twin-bedded room, a third bedroom off the second with a double sofa bed, two bathrooms with fitted showers and a separate WC. The whole apartment was recently redecorated. All rooms have excellent storage/fitted wardrobes. The 3rd bedroom has scenic views of Osseja forest.
There is an excellent bakery just around the corner and in less than 5 minutes walk you are at the centre of the village with its old church and many facilities including a post office, bar, two cafes, a restaurant, a pizzeria, tourist office, general stores, supermarket, second bakery, newsagent, chemist, hairdresser, library and even a cinema! There is also a scenic lake with pedalo hire available.
There are local festivals and traditions enacted in the square such as the Catalan Sardana dance, the fireworks for the eve of St John (23rd June), the local festival of St Pierre in early July, a medieval festival in August and an international sheep dog competition in July.
The area includes the fortified town of Mont Louis built by Vauban and the first solar oven in the world near Font Romeu. There is a playground for children in the village, a climbing wall and possibility to hire pedalo boats on the local artificial lake. Other sports possible include tennis, moiuntain biking, golf (18 holes at 3km over the Spanish border), Via Ferrata, Paintball, Canonying, Ballooning, paragliding and various local adventure parks.

In Winter, there are numerous skiing and snowboarding routes from December to April.

“Full of character in the centre of Osseja, perfect for exploring French and Spanish Pyrenees”
Osseja is a small town with lots of character, and the apartment is situated perfectly in the centre of town, within a 5 minute walk of the town square. The location is great for exploring the Pyrenees, with the nearest sizeable town, Puicjerda (in Spain) easily accessible by car, bus, bike or on foot. Our group (two adults, plus two teenagers) were split on whether or not you needed a car. There is good public transport (bus rides cost just 1E!), but a handful of buses each day so you need to be quite organised, and the yellow train, both of which offer fantastic views as you go. Loads of people cycling too, and you can walk out of Osseja into the mountains or to Puicjerda. The accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed to find our way around. Great to spend time in France and Spain within a short walk along a quiet road from each other!

My husband and I had a relaxing and enjoyable week at this apartment in Osseja. Beautiful countryside, and the apartment was big with two bathrooms and a separate wc. Long balcony overlooking courtyard. Cosy living room, and kitchen with all utensils for cooking and washing facilities. It was a home from home. Lots of walking to be had in and outside of the town. The town is served by a good bus service and also the little yellow train - of which we made good use of as we do not drive. What we also liked was the bakery around the corner from where we bought fresh bread for breakfast every day. There's also a nice pub three minutes walk away from the apartment. All in all, it's a wonderful place to go and stay, and one cannot fault the apartment. It's very clean, well-maintained and top notch!! We were lucky with the weather too - for early May it was quite warm.
