About us

A family from SWEDEN talk for us....

This is one of those places you want to tell the world about. But at the same time keep to yourself.

We stayed at Casale Eredita for four fantastic weeks!

The house is perfect. There is everything you could possible need. And if something is missing the wonderful Giacinta fix it right away.

Every room is decorated with a lot of tought, love and good taste.

We stayed in the yellow room. The view from the bed was like a picture in a fancy magazine. Olive trees, pink roses and the turqoise water from the pool. We have a 9 month old son and for him Giacinta made a adorable baby bed.

Outside is a big private garden. Full with diffrent plants and roses, well taken care off. Very nice! During the day, when the sun moves there are diffrent places to find shadow. This was very good for us and our baby.

The location is on the countryside. All you can hear is the wind and diffrent birds. If you enjoy going for a walk or run it's perfect. You can go in any direction and you will have a private time. Just you and the beutiful nature with the oaks like a roof giving you shadow. Sometimes you just have to stop to look at the hills, the fields and the diffrent villages you can see in distance.

Orte is a beutiful little village. Quite few tourists. You have the local market, fish store (fresh fish tuesday and friday), bread (won the price for best bread in italy), meat and vegetables. When you shop at these places you can make your own spagetti vongole or vitello with some lemon. Perfect!

Your host, Giacinta, is simply the best! She is a varm and caring person. Who knows when to stop and chat or just say ciao and walk by. She helped us out when our boy got sick and had accident so we had to go to the dentist. To us she became very special.

She showed us the real Italy and took us to places we nerver would have found. Like the best bufala mozzarella, oil and wine fattoria.

You would think that staying that long in the same place you would have something to complain about. But we don't (and we have traveled a lot and we're picky).

It's simply a fantastic place and so are the surroundings.

You would make a mistake not coming here!

My husband, daughter in-law, husband and two granddaughters stayed at Casale Eredita for 7 lovely days. Giacinta (and her family were wonderful). On our first day there Giacinta made reservations for us so that we could join her family and friends to a yearly fund raiser in a local farm field, that allowed us to taste the different flavors of the area, enjoy the band and the kids found some international friends to play with. It was a fun evening, so much so that we took part in it the following night. Giacinta was eager to please, helped us with directions when needed and encouraged us to help her with her English skill.

Location description from owner

The Lazio region

Casale Eredit is located in the Lucignano Valley, a protected area alond the couse of the River Tiber, 80 km far away north Rome in a wonderful countryside. It is 7 Km from Orte, near the remains of the ancient river port of Seripola and the Lake Vadimone, today dried up, where the Romans defeated the Etruscans in 309 and 283 B.C.
Famous archeological sites (such as Tarquinia, Vulci, Ferento) and varieties of urban sceneries of historical, artistic and folkloristic interest ( such as Viterbo, Tuscania, Civita Castellana, Bomarzo, Caprarola, Orvieto, Todi, Narni, Spoleto, the Marmore Falls), a famous Bolsena Lake and Trasimeno Lake, nature Reserve of Vico Lake, fill the immediate surroundings of the village.

Orte

Orte is a very picturesque small village in provincial central Italy. Ancient inhabitants ( 6 th century B.C.) understood the strategic importance of the tuff rock flanked on one side by the river Tiber, and settled the original nucleus of the village on its top. Centuries of history have since then enriched this elevated portion of land and its surroundings. Medieval and Reinassance buildings are still the setting of centemporary everyday life at Orte.
The area was inhabited since the Paleolithic Ages, as evidenced by the finding of some flints and arrowheads, now preserved in Rome at the Museum Pigorini. Later it became an Etruscan settlement and suffered the Roman conquest. Being part of the Empire, the town followed the fortunes of Rome. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the town experienced the Barbarian invasions and their destructive incursions. Occupied by the Arabs and conquered by the Lombards in 914, between the X and Xi centuries, Orte intensified its control over the commercial traffic of the Tiber, contending its toll rights with Amelia, Narni and the Abbey of Farfa. In later centuries there was a decisive increase in population, accompanied by an urban, economic and cultural development. It became one of the major cities of the Patrimony of St. Peter in Tuscia and in 1864 began the construction of the railway of the Papal States.

“Fantastic Strategically Located House”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

I booked to stay at Casale Eredita over 12 months before my stay and from the moment I booked until the moment I left after my 2 week stay I felt that Giacinta the owner looked after me and saw to all my requests and questions. Arriving late on our first evening Giacinta greeted us with a freshly prepared meal and showed us around the property. Food was fantastic and really needed after a long day of travelling. The house itself is great, 3 large on suite rooms, living area and a kitchen with everything that you would need and more. The private pool, which is not overlooked by the main house, was superb and kept clean at all times. In fact Giacinta keeps all of the gardens in a fantastic condition. Always waiting for us to be out for the day before she attended to the pool and gardens so not to disturb us. She even went the extra mile to ensure we had Sky Sports so we could keep track of the Olympics.......The location is fantastic, strategically located to explore all of Italy. We travelled to Rome twice, 45 mins on the train from Orte station which is 10 mins drive away. We also went to Pompei, Florence and a local town Orvieto as recommended by our host Giacinta. We had a great 2 weeks holiday, felt really well looked after and I would totally recommend a stay here.

“Great vacation!”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

After June 2008, we spend our second vacation in June-July 2012 here, each time two weeks and we recommend this location very warmly. Casale Eredita is a beautiful house, with a big pool and huge cultivated garden. All rooms are nice, very clean and completely equipped. Perfect for quiet vacation near Roma (45 min with a train). The Owner family is very hospitable, stay in background, but help every time in any question. It is a really insider tip location. We will come again, promised! Count and countess S. from Berlin – Germany.

Dear friends, thanks for your kind words. Twice you have honored me with your presence and your kindness. With affection I greet you and wish you well. Giacinta and family

“The perfect week to finish our two week Italian family holiday.”

Casale Eredita is a fabulous place and Glacinta is the perfect host. The villa is perfect for families with 3 good size bedrooms with a private bathroom for each. Our bedroom also came with french doors that opened up onto the patio by the pool. Large pool and lots of area to run around in the gardens for the kids. Glacinta has done a great job with the gardens that surround the villa. You are only a few minutes outside the town of Orte which is a great hilltop town to explore. Plus another medieval hilltop village is just above them on the hilltop which is a couple minute drive up the hillside. Orte is a great location to explore the Umbria area as your just off the main toll highway and the railway runs through the town. We did day trips like the hot springs in Viterbo, Marmore Waterfalls in Terni, Assisi, the Baci chocolate factory in Perugia and much more. We took the train into Rome on account it was so cheap and easy. Glacainta also arrived on Friday morning with a birthday cake for Ed. She saw his date of birth on the passport and did it as a surprise. Wonderful place to stay. Ed, Heather and family

“Beautiful cottage with warmest welcome!”

This is truly THE place to take a break from everyday's hassle, lay back and relax, take a stroll through the last warm autumn afternoons, and feel at home the minute you arrive! The house has been renovated recently and has everything you expect: a pool just large enough to swim in, a kitchen, classic furniture with a distinct local feeling, a porch to sit and eat on, and most of all a caring housekeeper family in the background, just lovely! Try at least one or two of their homemade dinners, ordered on site!
