The beautiful village of Voroklini is a peaceful, charming treasure nestling at the foot of the Voroklini Hill which is often referred to as 'the mountain' by the locals and certainly brings a smile to the face of tourists and residents who have made Voroklini their home after leaving the harsh climate and fast paced life of countries in the Northernmost parts of Europe.

What to see & do

The hill around Voroklini offers visitors and the community members a fabulous open area with spectacular views in all directions where families can walk in safety and enjoy picnics and barbeques at the official picnic site which is provided and maintained by the Forestry Department. At night the stone church of St Elias can be seen lit up on the summit of the hill from the village and surrounding areas acting as a beacon inviting people to come and savour the traditions and hospitality that Voroklini has offered since it was established hundreds of years ago.

Blue Flag Beach. The village is situated just a couple of kilometers from its pristine Blue Flag beach, which offers the safest waters for swimming on the whole of the Island of Cyprus. It is considered to be one of the best beaches for families with young children.

Voroklini Lake – A wetland of European importance. Voroklini Lake is a must-see wildlife site in the Larnaka district. This fantastic nature patch is literally in the heart of Voroklini community and, despite its small size, is home to rich wildlife. For the preservation of its great biodiversity hot-spot the wetland is protected under European law, thus it is designated a Natura 2000 site. Here, two threatened bird species come to nest, the Black-winged Stilt (Voroklini Lake is the best nesting site in Cyprus for this species) and the Spur-winged Lapwing (this species nest only in Greece and Cyprus within the EU). Moreover, Voroklini Lake is the only site in Cyprus where the beautiful Red-crested Pochard nests. In total, an impressive 190 bird species have been recorded the Lake! Spring and winter are the best times for a visit to the Lake to enjoy the birds of this unique wetland. Especially in spring and early summer, any visitor can see much colourful wildlife action going on there. If you wish to catch a glimpse of the site and its wildlife or get directions please visit the project website at www.orokliniproject.org.

Exciting Nightlife. Voroklini village is home to around 9,000 people in the peak summer season and has a vibrant night life with a broad variety of restaurants and pubs.

Accommodation. There are several local hotels in the area of Voroklini and many apartments for rent seasonally or throughout the year.

Information about the history and present life in the village can be obtained from the web page of the Community Council click here.

“Perfect Holiday”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2013

This is a first for us, despite holidaying every year we have never posted a review, however John and Regina’s resort is different which is why we wanted to publish our first review. Our family of four which include our two boys, Gunner & Bronco, two Border Collies, had the first what can be described as ‘perfect holiday’. The only problem we had was that John gave us some recommended restaurants and what followed was a difficult decision each night where to dine, if only there were not so many quality restaurants to choose from in Oroklini. The accommodation is perfect, the location allowed us to bring the boys for different daily walks, the adjacent supply of shops, restaurants, pubs and fresh food supplies all add to the perfect spot to get away and enjoy a great break to recharge the batteries. In summary John and Regina have a perfect spot to have a holiday, unobtrusive, everything you need, great homes, great location, a real opportunity to relax and take a break. We ‘only’ went for 3 weeks and have decided that it is time to take a real break later this year and take a 6 week holiday in Cyprus with John’s as our base, can’t wait and that is from all four of us. Thanks for a 10/10 holiday John and Regina, John, Grace, Gunner & Bronco

“Happy Christmas - in Oroklini”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2013

This was the fifth successive Christmas that my extended family have spent in Oroklini. Our previous agent could not find suitable accommodation for us but that was a blessing because I then found Regina Villas through searching the internet. We were in 3 groups and needed the 4 bedroom villa. From the outset we were all impressed by the high quality of the furnishings and fittings and the green and tranquil surrounds of the location. We were very well looked after by John the owner and his staff who, though always available, were never intrusive. Before leaving UK, John helped me find a restaurant that served Christmas Lunch and to our delight, a decorated Christmas tree was in the villa when we arrived. Every day started with a walk to Zorbas the bakers followed by a Cypriot brunch in the warm sunshine on the patio surrounding the pool. A perfect Christmas holiday. That's why we've alread booked for next Christmas.

“Lovely Christmas Week”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2013

We had a lovely christmas week staying at one of the 3 bedroom Royal Villas. The villa was modern, spacious, and very well looked after. We appreciated the welcome pack on arrival, including the bottle of local wine from John! With such lovely weather over the christmas week we made the most of the pool and bbq area, and enjoyed the use of the tennis court within the complex. John and his friendly staff were wonderful, taking care to make sure we had everything we needed and the villa garden and pool was spotless. The village of Oroklini is lovely, with good bakeries, supermarkets, and pubs/bars. We followed John's recomendations and had a couple of lovely evening meals at local tavernas. Compared to several other villages we visited, Oroklini had a lot happening in it during the quieter winter months on the island. Good location for Larnaca and Agia Napa, and we found some lovely small beaches along the coast heading out towards Agia Napa. Thanks for a wonderful week! we hope to be back! John and Jennie.

“A very relaxing holiday venue”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2012

We'd like to thank John and his team for a most enjoyable stay at villa Anna. We were met at the airport by a private taxi, pre arranged by John and driven the 15 minute journey to the complex. Peter the caretaker was on hand to welcome us. John visited most days to determine whether everything was alright, but was never obtrusive. The villa itself was very clean and comfortable, though all our meals were eaten on the patio due to the excellent weather each day. It is only a 10 minute walk to the village, with supermarkets, a delicious bakery and restaurants that also supplied take away food at very reasonable prices. The objective of this holiday was to have a relaxing break with our extended family, including our 2 year old grandson and John and his team ensured this objective was met - nothing was too much trouble to them. Once again, many thanks for your hospitality John. Doug and Alma Lewis and family.

“Lovely Villa”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2012

We had a lovely 2 week stay at Regina's Villas - everyone was very friendly and we'd like to thank John & Regina (and Lucky the dog !!) for making us so welcome and Peter for being onhand everyday to make sure that the outside area and pool was keep in perfect order - we enjoyed our long lazy days around the pool. The village has everything you need to self cater with several supermakets and a wonderful 24hr bakery but if you prefer to eat out there are several great restaurants nearby. If you like a change from the pool there is a lovely sandy beach just a short drive away. All in all we had a great holiday - thank you to everyone Colin, Heather, John, Fran, Tony & Lynne

“A friendly, calm place to stay and to return to.”

Reviewed 15 May 2012

It was an easy trip from the airport having picked up a hire car arranged for us by our host.We arrived at the villa late so went staight to bed and in the morning got up to blue skies and the most calm peaceful place you could wish. The villa was comfortable and clean and the owner John came to visit us by mid morning to make sure everything was ok and dropped in during the week without us feeling any intrusion. There are plenty of shops for self caterers especially the two cake shops, there are restaurants and bars for a quiet drink and a walk around the old village in the evening is well worth doing. Finally we very rarely go back to the same place but on this occassion we certainly would and are planning to return possibly later this year. Thanks to John and Family and Lucky the dog.
