Description from owner

Description

Villa St Augustin has a bit of history. The original part of the building dates back to the 18th Century and although it's now just a short walk to the local village, it use to be surrounded by agricultural land. The farm workers would stop off at the tiny, two storey 'watering hole' for a well deserved drink.

The current owners have recently completely renovated and extended the building to create a unique 2 bedroom private villa. Some of the quirky original features such as the exposed stone walls remain, but all modern comforts have been added.

There's a wonderful, shaded courtyard, as well as a large private garden with an enclosed swimming pool

Please note: although the house looks quite close to the Autoroute (A7) on the google map, you can not see or hear this road from the villa.

Further details

Bed linen, towels, and even pool towels are provided.

The end of your stay cleaning is arranged by the owners and included in the cost of your stay.

Sorry, but this villa is not available for families with young children. There are several sets of stone steps and it is unsuitable for children.

Further details indoors

The owners of Villa St Augustin live in a farmhouse close by and have carefully planned the renovation of this building with holidaymakers in mind.

The central kitchen and living room have been created from the original, 18th Century part of the building and benefit from thick stone walls which keep it lovely and cool in the height of the summer. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, freezer, oven, dish washer and washing machine.

Inside the villa there's a downstairs double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and an upstairs twin room, both with air-conditioning. There's also a separate ground floor shower room and toilet.

The kitchen and living room are spacious and open plan with french doors leading out into the private courtyard.

Further details outdoors

If you visit during the summer, you'll probably spend most of your time out in the shaded courtyard, or enjoying the lovely private garden.

Location description from owner

The Provence region

The winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views, are great to explore and you'll find loads of picturesque villages (Gordes, Menerbes, Maubec and Bonnieux) within a short drive. There's loads to do and see in the area; St Remy-de-Provence, famous for its Roman architecture, Les Baux with its ruined castle and unique rock formations, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, famous as an antique centre and market. Also within easy reach are Pont du Gard, Avignon with the Palace of the Popes, Marseille with its famous waterfront, the Amphitheatre at Nimes and the cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence.If activity is your thing, this area is perfect for climbing, cycling, mountain biking, trekking, golf, tennis and swimming

Orgon

The villa is just a couple of minutes walk from the small, Provencal village of Orgon where you'll find small shops, 3 boulangeries (!) a new supermarket and a couple of good restaurants. The village is on the edge of the spectacular Alpilles mountain chain and on the doorstep of the beautiful Luberon National Park. Both areas are popular with sports and countryside lovers. The Villa is ideally located for visits to all the beautiful sites of Provence; Avignon, with it's Festival de Théâtre in July and numerous museums, St Rémy de Provence and les Baux famous for its superb rock formations L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is less than fifteen minutes drive away, famous for the Antiques village and Sunday market.La Route des Vins, "the wine road" (Gigondas and "les Dentelles de Montmirail", Séguret,Vacqueyras, Châteauneuf du Pape) is also easily accessible and if its nature you're after, La Camargue National Park is only an hour drive from here.
