Description

The White House casita was completed in 2015. The property managers, Helen and Janice, live next door separated by a high wall. The White House is totally private with its own car park, entrance and terraced garden. It is set in the Sierra Nevada region and sits just below Canar and just above Orgiva. The area is classed as Las Alpujarras.

Orgiva is the main town and is a bustling, busy market town where there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, banks etc and the local market is on every Thursday. Canar is one of the famous, 'White Villages, which are all very pretty and have stunning views. Some of the others are Pampaneira, (1060m), Bubion (1350m) and Capileira (1436m). From Capileira walkers can take the Pioqueira Gorge and climb up to the summit of Mulhacen, mainland Spain's highest peak standing at 3478m high. It is an incredibly beautiful route which can be done in one day but the owners have done it in the past and taken an overnight stay at the lovely Poqueira

Other attractions to the area are that the beaches of the Costa Tropical are only 45 minutes drive so if you fancy a day on the beach relaxing and swimming in the Mediterranean then it is only a short drive down. The whole area is a magnet for walkers/hikers, cyclist both mountain and road, horse riders and mountain climbers. However, do not let that put you off, if you feel that is all a bit too energetic then just come and sit by the 10m x 4.6m swimming pool.

The White House is a solar house and is completely run by 6 solar panels on 2 sun seeker arrays, meaning they follow the sun for maximum power intake. The water is from the springs and snows of the Sierra nevada so The White House is totally off grid getting electric and water organically whilst having all creature comforts needed for modern day living. There are 2 bedrooms, one is a double bedded room and the other is interchangeable. It can either be 2 x single beds, or changed completely to another double bed. A cot is also available.

The views from the house are second to non and it would be very difficult to beat them as we have mountains all around us. The setting is 0.6km off the nearest road, down a track, no need for a 4 x 4 however, as the owners used to drive an old Toyota Celiica and that had no problems.

Inside the rest of the house is made up of an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge with 2 x sofas seating 5 people and the inside dining table seats 6, whilst the outside table also is 5 to 6 people. There is shower room which consists of shower, a toilet and handbasin, all rooms are spacious, the kitchen, master bedroom and shower room also benefit from a sky light, so you can actually lie in bed and look at the stars. Inside the lounge the back wall is completely made up of one large glass window which is showing off an indoor/outdoor fish pond with water feature.

A very peaceful location with stunning views. Very well kept and private with a lovely pool and lovely surrounding villages to visit.
