Description

Our newly-renovated apartment is an ideal base for a romantic holiday in Florence. Not only is it located in the best neighbourhood in the city (the Oltrarno where we also live!), but it has a beautiful courtyard garden, surrounded by ancient walls and filled with birdsong, roses and jasmine. Inside, the apartment is a perfect size for two. There is a big living room with sofa and chairs, a desk for internet use, a large built in wardrobe and soft lighting. We also have a library of English books and travel guides. A staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor and a super-comfortable 160cm double bed. The big kitchen is a wonderful, sunny room with a door leading out into the garden, a fabulous spot for al fresco breakfasts or candlelit dinners. The kitchen itself is brand new: it is superbly equipped and has warm wood countertops. There's a traditional marble-topped table for eating and an armchair for watching while the cook works! We are very proud of the bathroom (which is surprisingly

We designed the apartment with a view to living there ourselves one day: we love it and know you will too.

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Florence is the regional capital of Tuscany. There is enough to see in Florence itself to keep you busy for weeks, but there are plenty of places of interest within easy reach of the city. Siena, Pisa, Arezzo and Lucca are all within an hour's drive of Florence and all are well served by public transport. The beach at chic Forte dei Marmi is an hour and a half away or you can drive further afield to the beautiful Maremma area for cleaner sea and wilder beaches. There are several golf courses within easy reach of Florence. Wine lovers shouldn't miss a tour of the Chianti vineyards, but if wine isn't your thing, a visit to some of the charming hilltowns of Tuscany is a great way to spend a day.

Oltrarno

The location couldn't be better: 20 metres from pedestrianised Piazza Pitti and 30 metres from buzzy Piazza Santo Spirito with its morning market, a short stroll will take you to the Ponte Vecchio, Boboli gardens and the Brancacci Chapel while a 10 minute walk takes you across the Arno to the Duomo, the Uffizi, Piazza Signoria, the Accademia and lots more. Our neighbourhood is full of restaurants, bars and cafès and the chic designer boutiques of Via Tornabuoni are just across the river. There are excellent butchers, bakers, grocers nearby and the market in Piazza Santo Sprirto offers fruit and veg stalls plus clothes every day except Sundays. There is a bank just across the road, a post office 5 mins walk away and a pharmacy a few metres away. The red tourist buses stop outside our front door as do buses to the train station. There is secure parking in a private garage round the corner.

“Perfect home base to visit Florence”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

This apartment is located within walking distance of all the famous sights of Florence, but in an area that is set back from the throngs of tourists, so it feels more like an authentic neighborhood. The apartment is very comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated. It is spacious and clean. It is wonderful to have the little courtyard garden in the middle of the city. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook. We explored the markets as well as local food shops and enjoyed making some home cooked meals with the excellent seasonal ingredients that are available. It was very convenient to have amenities such as wifi and a clothes washer. Nicky is a wonderfully caring and friendly hostess. She takes great pride in making the apartment a perfect home away from home for visitors. She made sure we had everything we needed. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us excellent advice about where to shop, which restaurants we should try, and events around town. I recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a pleasant place to stay in Florence.

“Perfect apartment in perfect location”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2013

My partner and I recently stayed in this lovely apartment and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Florence. The apartment has everything you need including a private walled garden with comfy furniture and very fast and reliable Wi-Fi. The bed is HUGE and incredibly comfy. Everything in this well-equipped apartment is of very good quality. We loved the area which is minutes away from Ponte Vecchio and other tourist attractions. Although situated very centrally it is very quiet and peaceful. We loved coming back from a day sight-seeing to sit outside with a nice cool beer to relax. There are plenty restaurants nearby and there's a bus stop outside the apartment which can take you to the main station etc Loved our week in Florence and will definitely be back - wouldn't want to stay anywhere else but here. You might want to read Dan Brown's Inferno when you're here as some of it is set in the same are as this wonderful apartment.

“FANTASTIC!!!”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2013

We are well travelled and this apartment was the best we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail and the quality of everything in the apartment was excellent including kitchen equipment, pillows, bedding, furniture, gorgeous bed etc. The outside garden area is a real treat, a peaceful oasis in a bustling city. The location is lovely and quiet but a couple of minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio. Would highly recommend, wouldn't stay anyway else in Florence! We hope to be back one day! PS: Hosts so helpful too!
