This beautifully appointed award winning ground floor apartment, perfect for adult couples, is fully self contained and has a private entrance. The apartment is situated next door to the owner's Chambres d'hôtes (B & B) in the lively village of Olonzac, the capital of the Minervois.

The owners have thought of everything to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

There is a complimentary Welcome Pack including tea, coffee, milk, bottled water, fruit, dishwasher tablets, washing powder and a bottle of local Minervois wine. All linen (including beach towels) and cleaning are also included.

Situated at street level, the apartment comprises of a comfortable open plan living room and full size kitchen decorated in the Provençal style, and a spacious king bedroom and rainwater shower room. Although it is located close to the centre of the village, it is quiet enough to allow for a great nights sleep.

This property is well recommended, particularly as the owners are very flexible about your arrival and departure dates - subject to availability. They go out of their way to make you welcome and have a good knowledge of the region.

Living/Dining Room/Kitchen: This area is open plan at street level. There are two comfortable armchairs, a sideboard with TV and DVD player and table and four chairs for dining. The TV receives international channels including UK free to air channels. The kitchen is well-equipped with fridge/freezer, large gourmet double gas oven, large gas hob with wok ring, microwave and all the crockery and utensils you will need to cook up a storm!

Bedroom: One large king bedroom with bedside cabinets, large chest of drawers, wardrobe & armchair.

Bathroom: There is a bathroom directly off the bedroom with a large rainwater shower, double basin and toilet.

The apartment is centrally-heated making it is ideal for out-of-season holidays.

There is a washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron.

Parking: Car parking is on the street at the front of the apartment.

Internet: WiFi internet access via your own laptop, tablet or phone is normally available in the apartment.

Telephone: Unfortunately there is no telephone in the apartment, but the owners will allow use of their private telephone for essential calls. Mobile phone signals in the region are generally good.

Winter heating: is included in the rental cost.

Gas, electric, & water: are all included in the rental cost.

End-of-stay cleaning: is included in the rental cost.

Bed & bathroom linen: is included in the rental cost.

Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. From 1st April until 30th September, it is chargeable at the 'guide' rate of one euro per person per day, payable direct to the owners.

Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 100 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.

The Occitanie region

The Languedoc Roussillon region is one of France's best-kept secrets, remaining until very recently in comfortable obscurity. This is so much the better for those in the know! Dramatically varied landscapes with vineyards as far as the eye can see, remote villages, cities and beaches, two distinct proud cultures (Occitan and Catalan), a tradition of religious heresy and steadfast rebellion and age-old customs; all combine to make this a great region unmatched in its romantic associations, at once epitomizing and defying everything that is France. This region is now emerging as one of the most enticing parts of the country offering a thrilling diversity of activity. We will be happy to recommend half day and full day tours to make the most of your time and here is just a taste of what is on offer...

Olonzac

Sainte-Hélène is located in the centre of this thriving large village...and just around the corner there is everything you will need during your stay including two boulangeries, a charcuterie (butcher/delicatessen), newsagent, pharmacy plus several bars, restaurants and cafes frequented by visitors and locals alike. Olonzac holds the largest village market in the Minervois every Tuesday morning. There are plenty of stalls to sample and buy the fantastic variety of local produce - wine, cheese, meats, honey, olives and olive oil - as well as everything else you would expect to find at a great market! There is also a beautiful park in the village with a good play area for children, quiet areas for relaxing, petanque and tennis courts.

Nearby there is Lac de Jouarres where you can fish, swim, kayak, windsurf or simply enjoy the relaxation of boating. Why not take a picnic and just enjoy the sunshine? The lake is fully supervised in the summer months and there is a cafe/restaurant where you can sit on the terrace and watch the windsurfers and sailors in action. The lake is just a short drive from Sainte-Hélène and within easy cycling distance or a 30 minute leisurely walk.

Just 2 kilometres from Olonzac, are the banks of the UNESCO listed Canal du Midi with the majestic plane trees creating a magnificent canopy as it makes its way from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Bikes are available for hire from the port of Homps so you can enjoy cycling alongside the canal. Rick Stein showed a small part of it in the BBC series Rick Stein's French Odyssey - but the real thing is infinitely better! There is also a daily cruise departing from Homps that allows you to experience the pleasure of being on the Canal.

Minerve is probably the most well known village in the Minervois - it sits high above the confluence of two large river gorges, the Cesse and the Brian. It is primarily known as being the site of one of the last Cathar strongholds held siege by the Crusaders but is also officially one of the prettiest villages in France. It is well worth a visit and only 20 minutes drive from Sainte-Hélène.

For the more energetic there are sports and activities in abundance! Walking, cycling, horse riding, golf, sailing, kayaking, rafting, climbing...and the list goes on!
