The Fava Eco-Residences are housed in a group of splendid and unique captain houses of the mid 19th century, located at the highest point of the traditional village of Finikia. The architects and owners of the property started the rebuilt in the 1980's with love and devotion and they transformed the properties into a spacious and modern, though with respect to the original traditional form, complex of summer houses. Today, the villas offer their hospitality in individual fully furnished self-catering apartments of various size and aesthetics. They offer a sense of 19th century history, combined and harmonized with modern amenities and serviced by 24/7 concierge staff, located in the heart of the most picturesque and virgin from the tourist development village of the island. Fava is just a stone's throw from the magnificent Oia and away from the crowds and noise. During the reconstruction there were used methods following the bioclimatic sustainable vernacular architecture and materials which are eco-friendly with low embodied energy. All houses have wonderful views over the village, the famous sunset of the island and the Aegean Sea with the close by Ios, Sikinos and Folegandros islands on the horizon.

All houses have daily maid cleaning service and change of linen and towels every two days. The breakfast is included in the price. Every morning, a traditional basket with local organic delicacies such as rusks, homemade marmelade, thyme honey, butter, free range eggs, Santorinian tomatoes, cheese from Cyclades and a seasonal fruit will be delivered to your door.

Helios Suite is a traditional cozy and elegant old style cave-type individual apartment of 55 m2 fitted with all the modern amenities, with 5 meter high vaulted ceilings. The apartment can accommodate up to 4 people in a large unified Canava hall, it has one double bed, one single bed and a sofa bed as well as a spacious separate autonomous bathroom with shower, a comfortable fully equipped kitchen and access to a totally breathtaking yard with 180 degrees Sea and Sunset View. The house is furnished with 19th century wooden antiques and paintings depicting the history of the island. The old wooden oven where the previous century's occupants used to bake the bread is kept as it originally was. The internal temperature varies from 21 to 23 Degrees Celsius throughout the summer period due to the bioclimatic vernacular construction of the residence. In the house you will also find 24-7 Wi-Fi access, plasma TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, CD player with Classical Music CD's and multilingual Books.

Our concierge will be your private guide, whatever you might want to ask or need assistance to do.

A traditional handmade sweet will welcome you on your own Santorini house.

Location description from owner

The South Aegean region

A place blessed by God and nature and yet so troubled by fate. Magnificent and wild, Santorini is unique throughout the world for its stunning natural beauty, result of the volcanic eruption of the 16th century BC. A place like a chest of rock on which the whitewashed villages hang like acrobats on the edge of the cliffs and on the other side lay beautiful black volcanic beaches and crystal clear deep waters. Apart from its incomparable beauty, the island offers relaxing moments in authentic Cycladic environment, exceptional gastronomic choices, rich nightlife and a unique study the ancient culture that has a history of over 3,500 years.

Oia

During the 18th and 19th century, the village of Oia experienced the prosperity of the naval merchandise. In Finikia lived the farmers who worked in the valley and vineyards, but also the captains of Oia had their summer homes and canavas. In the early 20th century there were over 150 canavas that were left off after the war and the devastating earthquake of 1956 brought the village to abandon. Since the mid 1970's slowly and with patience, new residents began to return and to reconstruct the old houses on permanent or holiday homes. Today, Finikia is a small, well-preserved traditional village now united with Oia with just 10 minutes walking distance. You can stay and experience the feeling of tranquility and authenticity, visiting the beautiful beaches and vineyards in the vicinity of the village.
Here you will meet only locals.

The Finikia Village still creates the feeling of the good old Greece of the mid 20th century. The people here leave their houses doors open all day and night, are welcoming everyone who visits their area with warmth and it is so peaceful and tranquil, that during the night you hear only the wind and nothing else. Its spacious terraces make you feel like you fly over the Aegean Sea. On a good visibility day, you can see at least 10 other islands on the horizon. it is the balcony of the Aegean Sea.
On the same time it is located only 5 minutes walking distance from the heart of Oia, totally avoiding the massive crowds of tourists.
It is a place blessed by god and nature.

“Most Beautiful Villa with an amazing view”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2016

We stayed in Fava for 4 full days and couldn't be happier. A 10 minute walk from Oia - this beautiful cave house came equipped with everything. The location was awesome as it was next to great restaurants, local shops and even bus stops. I would definitely come back here in a heart beat- Thank you Antonis & Ms Eri for an unforgettable experience!

“A beautiful space with a bird's eye view, walking distance from greatness.”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2015

We really loved our stay at Fava. The location is off the beaten path, but not difficult to reach at all. It's also situated on a small hill, allowing lovely views of the circuitous village roads and the sea a 30-minunte walk away. You're also a 20-minute walk (if that) to Oia and its famous shops, restaurants, sights, and sunsets. The food is amazing, pretty much everywhere, but Fava is very close to a wonderful music cafe called Potamos (en route to the beach), and the ever excellent Krinaki. Travel around the island by cab is easy and cheap enough -- Santorini is a small place. Don't skip on Santo Wine or the seafood spot known as Psaraki. Best.

“Traditional and Beautiful!”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2013

Myself and my boyfriend had the delight of staying in the Junior Suite for our holiday to Santorini! We arrived and were in a beautiful, traditional settlement which was Finikia, we were so happy as there were no roads nearby where we were staying and traditional cobble roads like the ones you see in Greek films! The suite was so clean and our view was also lovely! We were very happy and were looked after extremely well! Definitely somewhere to stay when in Santorini!
