“Fabulous Experience in a Beautiful Cotswolds Cottage”

Reviewed 20 May 2017

I just came back from a heavenly week spent at Rose Cottage in Upper Oddington. I now have my photo of the view from the upstairs bedroom room window as my wallpaper on my phone so I can be reminded often of what fun I had. The cottage fulfilled every dream I had had from reading many books about England since I was a child. What a fantasy – to spend time in a cottage built in the 1700s yet so thoughtfully restored. The owner, Emmanuel, was so efficient in communicating with me and prepared very detailed information about how to get in and how to operate any and all devices inside. The cottage was furnished with everything I needed, and then some. There was a lovely garden outdoors, but it was a little too early in the spring for me to use it. The location was fabulous. The local pub, the Horse and Groom, was truly a 2 minute walk away, and served the very best fish and chips I ever had. Right outside the door was a gate to a walking path that I took to explore Stow-on-the-Wold. A friendly neighbor gave me good directions, but there is probably a way to find that information on your own. What a pleasure to have that village so close that I could walk and enjoy the country scenery along the way. Sometimes I cheated and took the car there and that was only a drive of maybe 10 minutes or less. I highly recommend Rose Cottage and hope I can go there again some magical day!

“Fantastic accommodation in the Cotswolds!”

Reviewed 13 May 2017

We had a great stay in this lovely cottage with a small baby and some visitors. Cottage is very well located, very clean and with lovely details. Hosts could not have been nicer, and it was a great place for us to revisit the Cotswolds from!

“Perfect Cottage Getaway”

Reviewed 8 May 2017

We stayed at Rose Cottage for a week during our honeymoon last year, and it was exactly what we needed--a quiet, peaceful place to get away from everything, and picture perfect. We loved it so much that we came back this year to celebrate our first anniversary. One might worry about trying to recreate a honeymoon, but everything was just as wonderful as we remembered! The scenery is spectacular, of course; we went on several long walks through the countryside, right through the fields with the sheep. (We're so in love with the garden that we're talking to landscapers now about creating a cottage garden of our own back home in Virginia!) Oddington is wonderfully tiny, and just 5-10 minutes from Stow, which has a grocery and shops--everything you need. The butcher is particularly good. Oxford is an easy 40-50 minute drive, and a great day trip. The cottage has everything you need. We love to cook, and the kitchen is well stocked with all the tools we could want. Coral also left lovely bread, butter, and fresh eggs for us. We couldn't unplug entirely this time, and the wifi was great--fast enough for video streaming and wifi phone calls without any trouble at all. Emmanuel and Coral made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. I suppose we probably can't come back every year, but we would if we could. It's just magical.

“Charming and Cozy Cotswold Cottage”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2017

Everything was wonderful! The house was perfect for us, and the surrounding walks were wonderful. What a wonderful surprise to have Carol's fresh eggs, milk, butter and bread ready for us when we arrived! We loved just staying in, playing board games and having our tea 'at home' as much as we enjoyed the surrounding areas. Just out the door and across the lane, a footpath leads through open fields, past horses and sheep to Stow-on-the-Wold. We could also walk to the 'local' Horse and Groom Pub for an easy dinner after a day of sightseeing. Emmanuel was so helpful, especially by providing so much info ahead of time, so we knew what to expect on arrival. A great stay!

“Lovely cosy cottage”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2016

We had a wonderful time at Rose Cottage (2 adults & a toddler). It is in a lovely village (I recommend the Fox pub's Sunday lunch!) and it is a very well-equipped, cosy cottage. We were even left butter, milk, fresh bread and the cottage was stocked with tea (including herbal), cooking oil, herbs and sugar which all make it easier, especially when travelling with a small child. Also good on that front - a door at the bottom of the stairs and a door to close off the kitchen. We come to the Cotswolds every year for a weekend and we would definitely consider staying here again! We were sent lots of useful information in advance, too. We tend to use our Cotswolds weekends just to relax but if you want to do a lot of sightseeing etc, the owners provide lots of info by email and guidebooks at the cottage.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful area of England”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2016

We spent a marvellous week in Rose Cottage with its cozy atmosphere. Everything was kindly prepared for our stay. A practical person would write: „The cottage was equipped with all things you ought to need during your stay: table ware, soft towels for everyone, household appliances ...“. But I prefer to write that what made it all so wonderful was the lovelyness of it all: the personal touch of the owners, the cute garden with nice garden furniture; he beds (so comfortable!) ... We had nice breakfast and little meals at the dining room table and it felt … like relaxing and really nice holidays! The whole area is beautiful and has a lot to offer: you can either have long walks or visit towns nearby (Oxford, for example, ist not far away.) Blenheim Palace ought to be visited as well. But there are so many other interesting things! And that is the reason why we have taken the decision to come back again! Thank you Jenny and Emmanuel for letting us share Rose Cottage.
