Location description from owner

The Scotland region

We are 10 minutes away from the busy harbour town of Oban with lots of ferry routes to the Hebrides to chose from for a day's outing. There are various castles in the local area such as Dunstaffnage, Kilchurn and Stalker castle. We are an easy day's drive to Fort William and an outing on the famous Harry Potter train. Glencoe is also nearby, as well as lots of other stunning sightseeing trips.

The village of Connel has 3 local hotels for dining out, a well stocked village shop and a regular bus service into Oban.

Oban

Some suggestions for places and walks in Argyll;

A trip to Crinan; just sit at the locks and watch the goings-on with boats travelling through the canal

A drive through Glen Lonan with lots of Highland cows to see, nice scenery and come out at Taynuilt to collect smoked salmon or trout pate from Inverawe smokehouse for lunch

Take a boat trip over to Kerrera and visit Gylen Castle on a good day armed with a bottle wine and corkshrew.

In summer join the Jacobite steam train (the Hogwart Express) from Fort William to Mallaig for the most scenic train ride in Britain

A trip to Mull, if you take the car across make sure to head for Glengorm Castle north of Tobermory to have lunch. Visit Tobermory with it's colourful seafront and it's many lovely shops. There is a great walk from the Pier toward the lighthouse with wonderful views over the Sound of Mull and return via the golf course

Drive to Craignish past Ardfern and enjoy peace & quiet and views over Scaba and Jura

A visit to Castle Stalker Cafe and enjoy the views over to one of Scotland's loveliest castles

Head up to Ben Lora for great views over Benderloch and Connel

There are numerous gardens in the area well known for their amazing azaleas and rhododendron collections

Or just enjoy the view from the house or patio with plenty of wildlife to see and get hypnotised by the sight & sound of the water

“An excellent property in a impressive location”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2012

One of the best properties we have ever stayed in. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard ,with lots of extras and was spotlessly clean throughout,. The position of the property overlooking The Falls of Lora is stunning , even on a dismal November day,. Gabriella and George gave us a lovely warm welcome and have obviously put much care and thought into creating a very special holiday home which we hope to return to.

“110% excellent”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2012

The property, location, and owners George and Gabriella are excellent, you could not pick a better property, everything is just perfect. My partner doesn't drive so if i was fishing by Connel Bridge ( good fishing ) she would go into Oban which is easily accessed by bus or train. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance, scenery is fantastic and the views from the patio area !! well you could just sit there all day long and marvel at what you have in front of you, i have sat there are filmed the Sea Otters. The property is absolutely spot on, i couldn't begin to describe it fully you will need to see it for yourself. If you are looking for an excellent relaxing/ walking location you really should consider Cnocaruan. Thank you George and Gabriella Terry and Cherie

“Highly recommend !”

Reviewed 11 Oct 2012

On arrival we were greeted by our fabulous hosts and shown to our home from home for the week. The view off the patio of the falls was spectacular and then came the next supprise, the fabulous cottage. We have stayed in many cottages in the UK over the years but this cottage is by far the best. Everything had been thought of even down to the IPod and lap top. It really was a home from home and we can not wait to return again.
