Location description from owner

The Costa del Sol region

Marbella is arguably the most glamorous resort on the Costa del Sol, located in the province of Malaga in Southern Spain. Whilst the cities of Madrid and Barcelona are modern and cosmopolitan, the more laid back Costa del Sol offers quality of life, as well as breathtaking views across to the African coast, and the impressive rock of Gibraltar. Where else can boast the largest number of golf courses in continental Europe? Marbella has been described as the playground for the world's elite for decades for many reasons: 26 km of beautiful beaches, stunning luxury villas, the finest hotels, world class cuisine, chic boutiques, stunning golf courses, and 320 days of Mediterranean sunshine a year. Over the past six decades Marbella has developed to much more than an international luxury tourism resort for the global jet-set community, it has been home to aristocrats, movie stars, sports personalities, and wealthy business executives. In fact more than 135 nationalities live in Marbella, with around a third of the inhabitants being of international origin. It would be impossible to fully name all the VIPs which have graced Marbella with their presence over the years, but perhaps the most recent one was arguably the US First Lady Michelle Obama who spent a summer holiday in Marbella amidst a global media frenzy. Just a short drive away from Marbella, from the end of November until April, one can visit the Sierra Nevada ski resort, perched above the ancient City of Granada and its breathtaking Alhambra Palace. In addition to excellent restaurants and bars, the resort has several high quality hotels. Marbella holds a key position for many people due to its easy motorway access to Malaga international airport which is just a short drive away. Malaga also enjoys excellent connections via its busy port as well as a fast AVE rail service connection to a number of destinations including the Spanish capital, Madrid. Just a few kilometres in the other direction is the strategically relevant British territory of Gibraltar which also has an international airport as well as a myriad experts in the financial, legal and fiscal services sectors.

Nueva Andalucia

Puerto Banus and its notorious marina, is now known as the most glamorous spot along the Costa del Sol. To speak of Puerto Banus is to speak of one of the best known ports in all of Spain. Puerto Banus is located only 3 kilometers east of San Pedro de Alcantara and about 7 kilometers west of Marbella. It is a preferred destination where you will find the best beaches in Marbella. Glitzy Puerto Banus boasts a fantastic array of Luxurious designer boutiques, as well as a superb selection of fine dining restaurants, luxurious boats and yachts, and highly popular nightlife. Puerto Banus beginnings took place about 60-70 years ago, by the businessman Jose Banus. He was the main person that created what today is considered to be an institution. Nueva Andalucia is situated opposite the Port itself and is the number one location for visitors to the Marbella area. The bullring on the right marks the entrance to Nueva Andalucia, while the road climbs towards the mountains affording magnificent views of the coast. On a clear day, you can even see North Africa off in the distance. Sports enthusiasts can find plenty on offer here with tennis, paddle tennis and a gymnasiums. For golfers in particular, the area could not be more ideal. There are several magnificent courses within virtual putting distance, including Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha Golf and Dama de Noche, which is floodlit for night time play. All the Nueva Andalucia golf courses are surrounded by stunning scenery with a backdrop of mountains. Nueva Andalucía is also fast becoming known for its International Cuisine which ranges from a down home American deli to the ultimate in cordon bleu. It also boasts one of the most popular commercial centres in the area, Centro Plaza comprising quality shops, restaurants, bars and offices, as well as a supermarket, gymnasium and beauty parlour. In other words, this thriving commercial centre has everything that the consumer might want – from taking care of the weekly shop, to buying unusual and exquisite gifts, including carpets, antiques, luxury toiletries and, not surprisingly perhaps, everything you may need for the golfer in the family. There is also an excellent street market (“rastro”) held next to the bullring here every Saturday morning. Aside from recreational, sport and commercial facilities, Nueva Andalucía has several schools, including the international Aloha College. It is also home to one the Costa del Sol's just two casinos, which boasts a vast gaming room as well as various other facilities. For both residents and visitors, Nueva Andalucía is ideally situated, just a few minutes drive from the glitz and glamour of Marbella and Puerto Banus, yet close to the natural beauty of the Sierra de Ronda mountain range and San Pedro Alcantara which is up and coming more and more each day! Only 40 minutes drive from Málaga and its international airport, Nueva Andalucía enjoys the best of both worlds, the privacy of a tranquil location, but within easy reach of all the attractions that the Costa del Sol has to offer.
